@wrwlumpy Good work as usual, I’ve always wanted to go to Gameday if it’s ever at a KU Dook game so I can hold a Sign that says Nixon went to Dook lol.
-
dook is a trash school full of trash people and I hope we win by 50
-
Vegas has us as a 4.5 point favorite.
-
On the bright side we don’t have to worry about Grayson tripping our guys!
-
… or missing last second shots.
-
@wrwlumpy i usually thumbs up every post on threads you make like these but I hate Duke so much. raincheck on upvote until your next post ?

@wrwlumpy tyty!

Great work! Duke hospital is where my grandmother died so I do have a soft spot for the institution. Grandpa got to know a cafeteria worker in that hospital named James Worthy!

And we are 2.5 point underdogs per ESPN. Shocker.
-
@KirkIsMyHinrich Not something to get your nose out of joint. Vegas is trying to stimulate equal betting on both teams. ESPN is trying to stimulate interest in the telecast, so making Duke the favorite likely gives Duke fans reason to watch. And with the 5 stars vs 4 stars battle, it is not unreasonable.

So you’re saying Duke fans are fair weather fans…unwilling to watch unless they are the favorite. Meanwhile KU fans carry a chip - flyover state, no respect, damn right we’re watching.
-
@mayjay I think Duke fans would probably watch the game either way. It’s not unreasonable to have Duke as the favorite but you can be sure that ESPN’s analysis in favoring Duke went so far as this: “We love Duke.”
-
Anyone else think we should play a 4-guard lineup tomorrow and put Garrett on Hurt? I’m very much in favor of this. Match-ups might look like:
Dotson - Jones
Moss - Stanley
Agbaji - Moore
Garrett - Hurt
Azubuike - Carey
That would put our best defender, Garrett on who I think will be Duke’s best offensive player, Hurt. It would just make rotations for our defense easier in general, and it would probably make it easier for Doke to guard Carey. It would also give us another ball-handler on the court so that Dotson doesn’t always have to bring the ball up against Jones, who is a very good on-ball defender.
-
@KirkIsMyHinrich I’ll be really curious to see if Self tries to go with the two-big lineup for awhile. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t throw it out there for at least a few minutes.
Do we really think Moss is going to bounce back from the hammy injury to play more that a handful of minutes?
-
@ajvan I don’t know about Moss, that’s a good point. What is his status for the game tomorrow?
-
Moss probably won’t play. I’d be stunned if Self started 4 guards. I think we at least start with 2 bigs and then adjust as necessary. One thing we know, Self will coach circles around K, who’s basically a figurehead at this point.
-
I also don’t think it would be a bad idea to put Enaruna on Hurt at times. His length would make it difficult to shoot over.
-
@dylans “So you’re saying Duke fans are fair weather fans…unwilling to watch unless they are the favorite.”
Yup!
-
I expect them to play Zone and pressure the ball. Probably will double Doke a lot especially if he gets Carey in foul trouble
-
@KirkIsMyHinrich Our best lineup is absolutely NOT a four guard lineup. Our best lineup is a traditional 3 out, 2 in look. Self’s hi/lo is the perfect fit. We just have to impose our will and stop saying we can’t guard the 4. We can.
That doesn’t mean we can’t or won’t play four guards. In fact, switching it up here and there is certainly reasonable.
But to impose our will, and not be imposed upon, it’s 2 bigs all the way.
-
@HighEliteMajor How do you know what our best lineup is? We’ve played 2 exhibition games. The 4-guard 1-big lineup certainly seemed to work best in those 2 games. I think it’s a little too early to be ABSOLUTELY sure what our best lineup is. You don’t know.
Nor did I ever say that the 4-1 is our best lineup. I was talking about a lineup that would be the best match-up for Duke. Great reading comprehension, though.

You asked a question, it would appear. Thus, I gave my opinion related to the answer. An answer I strongly believe to be correct based on our personnel.
While I did not say that you stated the 4/1 was best tomorrow – that goes to your reading comprehension point – your post does indicate that preference quite clearly (“very much in favor”. Again, though, I didn’t say that. Work harder on your end.
Not sure what you were looking for and now, as I think about it, I don’t care much. If you were trying to be jerk, you sure got there easily.

It indicates that preference against Duke, not against every team we play or in general.
I’m glad you don’t care. I do enjoy not having to read long-winded posts from a racist person.

Well, that’s it. Cry yourself to sleep buttercup.

I’ll need to see it to believe it with Silvio and Dave defending wings and extremely mobile 4s. The way I see it Silvio/Dave/Doke are all the same position, center.
Hurt worries me.
-
I’m less worried about Hurt. He’s not a super mobile stretch 4. He’s super skilled and kind of soft with average athleticism. Silvio is certainly quick enough to hang with him. I think Silvio is a defensive 4 and an offensive 5, skill wise. Actually sort of worried about Doke getting out on the perimeter if they stretch Carey and he decides to try at basketball.
But I’m not worried at all on the other end of the floor. If K decides to zone us we’ll eat them alive on the boards and get plenty of second chance points. Watch out for a bunch of lobs behind the zone (might be a situation where Hurt gets teabagged…) I think our perimeter defense will be a shock to them as well. Tre Jones isn’t a great offensive player and Moore/Stanley won’t light you up. Only risk is if a guy like Jack White or Alex O’Connell gets stupid hot.
Going to say Jayhawks 71 Rutgers South 62
-
@FarmerJayhawk can they run w/us?
-
Thing is Hurt is another four that can step some distance from the basket and drain 3’s - -w have seen how that’s worked before where our big’s get pulled out away – another case of a ummm our 4 against a pretty mobile four - -gonna be a challenge. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Sports comment sites always seem to bring out the lunatic in all of us. Never enough to disagree. An opinion always has to be stated with utter certainty and be insultingly dismissive of any other.
Who needs family Thanksgivings for absurd drama anymore?
-
@mayjay I do it myself occasionally. We all want to be right, and it’s easier to be a little snarky when we’re anonymous. I didn’t read all of what you’re referring to, but hopefully cooler heads will prevail and we can all get along.

@Crimsonorblue22 I don’t think so when we’re turned up. Hurt and Carey aren’t exactly high motor guys. Moore and Stanley are A++ athletes though. We absolutely have to get back on the break.
-
@FarmerJayhawk works both ways, huh? Dok can run now!

I would pay large dollars for a poster of Doke dunking on the entire dook squad.
