  • @jayballer73 Tucky is trying to duck us.

ya you would think after we playing them 2 years in a row at their place

  • The B12/SEC matchups have nothing to do with last year’s standings. LSU, which finished first, is playing Texas. Tennessee? It’s like a bye week for us.

  • Tennessee is coming to Allen Fieldhouse. Rick Barnes is already having nightmares

    lol

  • @BeddieKU23 Barnes is one of the few coaches with a win in AFH though. Barnes was also one of 3 teams to beat KU in their title season. While this game shouldn’t be too close, Rick Barnes is a good coach capable of stealing a game.

  • 😀

  • @Texas-Hawk-10

I have nothing but respect for Barnes.

But I’m sure he’s not thrilled coming to KU with a rebuilding team

  • Tucky is not going to be that great this year, and didn’t want to be embarrassed.

  • In the history of the Big 12/SEC challenge, KU has played Kentucky 3 times, Florida twice and Texas A&M once. I am personally glad that we are seeing another SEC team other than UK or Florida. We need some variety.

  • ya actually I pretty tired of playing Kentucky in this thing too.-- There are more teams then Kentucky - just isn’t doing it for me - -not afraid by any means just looking for new

  • I like playing Kentucky, its a game that means something to our fan base most years. They are our rival in a lot of areas just as Duke and a few others are as well. It never hurts to have bragging rights over them.

All of our games should mean something - -if not - - then there is something wrong. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • We play Kentucky every three years in the Champions Classic. We have played them every season in the last four seasons, and we will see them next season in Chicago for the Champions Classic again. That’s five of six seasons to face one non-conference opponent. That’s a lot.

I am all for playing UK once every few years in the Big 12/SEC Challenge as long as the Champions Classic is going because we will play them once every three years in that anyway. We aren’t ducking them. They aren’t ducking us. But it doesn’t make sense for the same two programs to play in the Big 12/SEC Challenge every year from a marketing perspective. I want to see Tennessee. I’d like another shot at Auburn. A matchup with Mizzou at some point would be fun. Arkansas could be interesting. Maybe LSU. We haven’t seen a single one of those teams and the challenge has been going for six years. We finally get Tennessee. The whole idea is to see different teams in non-conference. Not always the same teams.

I agree. - - Missouri is finally in the Challenge , why not play them - -you talk about a rivalry couldn’t ask for much more - -well at least they used to be. - - Sure not on Kentucky level - -but so what? - -something new - like you mentioned playing the same team Kentucky or not - - ehhhhh. - -loses some of the luster for me.

I would love us to play Auburn again - - I would like to play LSU - -not saying never play Kentucky in the challenge again - - just play some one else for a change - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • I like playing Kentucky, especially since we have beat them a lot the last 5 years but I also think the game would mean less and less if it was played every year with being in different conferences. I personally think Cal is scared to come back to Allen and I think we have played them like 7 of the last 10 year or something around that. I like that Missouri is in personally, the rivalry will never be what it once was, which stinks IMO. But I think it would be a cool game to play every 2 or 3 years. Personally the KSU rivalry doesn’t do it for me. I think it’s gotten more intense since we stopped playing Missouri but it’s like beating our little brother that gets cocky.

I kind of lost that edge of K-State being a rival since we went on that streak and beat them like what - 21 yrs in a row or somewhere in that neighborhood at Bramlege - In order for it to be a rivalry the other team needs to win more then once or twice in a decade - I think Missouri will always be a rivalry - -maybe not like when they were in the Big 12 but still feels so good to beat their ass

  • I want to see KU play Kentucky and Duke and UNC and MSU every year! I’ll never get tired of watching KU play quality national opponents. Especially after they’re overhyped, gotta love shutting up the media for a day or two.

What I’m tired of is big boying the big12, it’s time for another national contender in conference. Texas screwed that up when they fired Barnes. Tech may be that if they can figure out how to get recruits there and keep Beard in place.
