Kyree Walker and Jalen Wilson are the big prizes now. I think Arkansas is no longer an option for Walker assuming he reclassifies. I think he will assuming his academics are in order. They’re 3 over the scholarship limit as it stands and just took two wings as grad transfers. I’ll see what else I can dig up there. Everyone feels like KU leads for Wilson, and I have no reason to disagree. He and RJ were always independent of each other.

Has Walker ever mentioned himself that he is thinking about reclassifying? I just haven’t seen anything about it… Really haven’t seen much on him at all.

@FarmerJayhawk I have seen that (Walker RJ either/or not both) bandied about in a couple articles before, one on Rivals I think. If Arkansas isn’t in the picture, it would have to be KU I’d think. Saw nothing but Arkansas or KU and he is Adidas all the way I believe.

He always plays coy about it but I really think he will. He turns 19 in November so he’s eligible for the 2020 draft if he graduates this year.

I’ve heard Memphis, though that was pre-Tucker and Precious, Oregon (seems less likely since his good friend Wooten is gone), and LSU. Also he’s on the Adidas circuit this summer. So look out below!

Not buying it, no player that good would stray from pitches from other schools.

Kyree is a different kind of dude too. He popped for ASU suuuuper early. Like Markese Jacobs early. I don’t get the feeling that he wants much of the attention.

@BeddieKU23 I mean at this stage if he reclasses, many schools are full up. Bill Self needs to do the shit Calipari did with Juzang. He needs to stay Adidas as @FarmerJayhawk mentioned.

True on scholarships. I guess I’ll wait and see what happens. Never seen a recruiting cycle like this one and I hope we never do again. There isnt much fun in following this the way it’s gone if that’s how it’s going to continue

Oh yeah, absolutely will LOVE to see this recruiting cycle end. KU/Self will bounce back I have no doubt.

Especially with an absolutely gaping hole at the wing. He wants the ball in his hands as more of a guard (personally I like him more as a 3) but he can do that playing off guard at KU. Dead eye shooter too. 43 and 47 percent the last two years. 80% from the line over his career too.

So seeing what I had been mentioning - - MICHIGAN , right there - because of Jwuan. - -anybody but him , - like I said His parents loved the fab 5 and named Jalen after Jalen Rose. - Hell they had even talked about trying to hire Jalen as an assistant to help things- - at this point I’m not even beginning to try and think were in good shape with ANYONE

He DID have Memphis as one of the three schools -BUT that can’t be an option anymore. - Yet IF and when he does IF he does I’m sure there will be a lot of Schools be jumping on it. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Here’s my new mindset - KU will never land another top 100 recruit. That way IF they do sign one I can be happy and not pissed at every whiff. There are far more misses than hits the way this staff recruits, wide net.

Ya I like him a lot. - when I watch clips of him , and I know they are high lite clips but looks like the kid can be a pretty physical player , like I’ve mentioned here I believe , seen where they call him like a positionless player. - - I think from the way it sounds and I know if he re-classifies I’m sure things will change drastically but as of the moment - for him it was like 3 teams he was listing -Arkansas - - Memphis - -& KU.
the kid can score for sure - -would be a nice fit at the 2 give us some outside scoring - got some serious hops as you know - -decent handles.

As frustrated as I am as a fan about recruiting I can only imagine how the staff feels. And they have to keep a smile on and go do it again today. Played twice in the same month. Poor guys, hope they have a plan D E and F.

I think, at this point, that their plan is to get to the '19-'20 season and go all in on the '20 and '21 recruits. Three that I want to be Jayhawks? Xavier Foster, Ty Berry and Bryce Thompson.

He’s still officially in 2020, so that’s all you can pick at this point. I think the expectation is for him to jump to 2019 though.

Zion says HI…Never hurts that he’s on the grassroots program probably being influenced to stay with Adidas though. I also get we are talking about two completely different people. Zion had a big brand and was going to be tough to retain. Walker from everything we hear is much quieter and may just enroll somewhere (KU) without much fan-fare

In that case Zion was Nike and then Adidas made a play to try and recruit him for KU. Didn’t work out but this is a lot different than Zion’s situation.
Walker has been at one of the bigger Adidas AAU teams and been going to an Adidas prep school.

Something like that! I can say Oak Hill is pretty rigorous. They don’t mess around up there. More like a military academy than basketball factory.

Yeah, my impression is that if he graduates on time from Hillcrest everything will be fine academically. But it’s not a lock he will get it all done by the time he would have to get to KU. I also wouldn’t entirely rule out him coming mid-year a la Silvio if he needs to clean up a course or two.

You know , even though it has been as crazy as it has been this recruiting year - – so many misses , yet it is almost mind boggling to even begin to think that even after ALL of this they we ( KU ) good STILL end up with a pretty dam good recruiting year - -even now if we can just get a couple of things to swing our way for once this year. - hard for me to even comprehend.
If things were to happen and play out right , and we should happen to still be able to pull Wilson & Walker into this class – - get Devon to come back - We would still have a pretty dam salty bunch - -here is hoping. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

He can declare. It’s a year removed for your class, so since he would be in the class of 2019, he’d be eligible for the 2020 draft.

Enaruna, Braun, McBride, SDS, Grimes and Dotson. Now that’s a class anyone would be envious of!
