Seeing picks for Chris Harris Jr to Oklahoma St. Not sure why KU is not all over this kid. As good a shooter as you will find in the class and has a developed body already at 6’3. Best friends with Tyrese Maxey who is going to Kentucky and will be a OAD. Kid can play

It’s been weirdly quiet. Self has meetings this week with all the guys who may leave so we should get a better feel for things then. Thankfully most guys aren’t deciding until mid to late April. And for Precious could be as late as around Memorial Day. Some guys who are thinking about reclassifying could show up in August. So buckle up. It’s shaping up to be a weird offseason.

The quietness makes it seem maybe some guys that we think are leaving either are not or are a lot more on the fence than people think. I think Dedric is 100% gone. Maybe Doke and Grimes are on the fence…?
I haven’t seen KU linked with any transfers whether it be a grad or a true transfer.

He is a lot better then I thought. Ideal 2 guard imo. I think Harris is better personally as a shooter but Beverly is an athlete that can shoot. Heck I’d take both

well I now how people feel about Matt Scott - me myself - -I can take him or leave him - - doesn’t matter.
However , - -he I feel made a pretty good point - he and Mat Tait were talking today about KU recruiting possibilities , and made sense to me. - they were mentioning coup[le of possible re-classifications one Being RJ Hampton and what he said about Hampton I think everyone would pretty much agree with. - He said he feels that if he does re-classify , that KU already has a pretty decent guard with Devon - -and Duke he thinks may very well be losing Jones - -in summary meaning if he re-classifies - -probably Duke - -but if he stays in his class - then KU has a pretty decent chance.
Then he talked about and I know by far not spelling the name but you should be able to decifer - -The kid from Wichita academy? -Afyante? - -sorry hell I don’t know how to spell it BUT -talking about what he will be like after he learns the game - - -Brut strength - more like a physical version of Hurt - -right now just a bully lol.
The point I liked in a way the most - - - —made me think - - Tait asked him what he thought about possible re-classification - he stated that it was one of those situations where it would be a on again - - of again topic - he said his thought - - was if guys weren’t thinking about re-classifying - -why would you take your official visits - -means one of two things - -your either re-classifying - -OR making a really early decision where your going - – makes sense. to me. - -He finished off by saying gonna be a crazy two weeks or month. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

@BeddieKU23 When you say “athlete that can’t shoot,” I think of Marcus Garrett and the problems he causes with offensive flow. I love Garrett, all the more so if he develops a jumper, but assuming he doesn’t…do we really want two Garrett-type players on the roster?

I believe I said athlete that can shoot. Beverly is a capable 3 point shooter as far as I have seen from games this season. He is one of montverde’s best on the team

They was talking about needs yesterday in the recruiting segment , talking about how KU this year was NOT really that athletic -and saying how KU needed to recruit athletes.
They gave examples an said - -now if KU were to land Hurt & a guy like Precious - - -and add them to Oachi & Dotson? Then you would have a athletic team

@BShark I kinda understand why. If you’re a casual fan you need a relevant team every season. Duke, UNC, UK, and KU are the only teams that fit that billing currently. Three are far enough east, 2 are in the media darling acc. Pick you team, OADs are the rage Duke wins there.
Casual fans won’t wait on a team thru the down years.

I’m legitimately wondering if Self will have 13 scholarship players next year. I mean legit KU players. I just don’t see how he is going to find 5 players this late in the game. Going to be fascinating to watch.

I doubt we get 13. It’s pretty hard for any program to get 13 legit guys in any given year.

Rumor is it’s not Duke if he reclassifies, but remains to be seen. He’s got an entire summer to get more classes if needed.

@FarmerJayhawk I am not talking about getting 13 top 100 kids and or immediate impact kids. I understand that’s not feasible in most cases. I’m talking about kids that actually belong at the KU level. We have already heard Self is combing through the Juco ranks. JC kids hardly ever pan out at the next level.

Right. I’m saying it’s really common for blue bloods to have one or two open every year. If a guy leaves unexpectedly a lot of times it’s better to keep it for the next year or for a mid year transfer than take a flier on a kid who probably isn’t going to cut it

I could care less how we do it but we need a full 13. Just to deal with guys who cant play via eligibility, injury, who knows what else but we are great at having a less then 100% roster by the time it matters

Self is going to have to channel his inner Roy and bring back everyone who’s on the margin of staying or going pro.
