This Is It

  • A 2 day tournament for the cheese. It’s money time. The next two games will determine our trajectory throughout the rest of the season. Win both games, and we’re on a 5 game win streak with momentum as the team comes together. If we go 1-1, it might be too little…too late to win the conference. And with the new NET rankings system specifically designed to screw us to the wall for playing the toughest schedule in the country, we could be looking at the lowest seed we’ve been in a long time. And then if we go 0-2…well, that would be brutal. Let’s not think that way.

    Bracket Tidbits:

Looking at some early mock brackets, I don’t think there’s any way they are going to allow us to play in KC. They don’t give 3 or 4 seeds spots that close to home normally…especially us. That said, we could really be getting a gift if they send us out West. Here’s Why:

    • Gonzaga is simply a lock as the number 1 seed. I have them rated as the worst number 1. They’re still a good team, but I think we’re better.

    • The 2 seed in the bracket is going to have to come from somewhere other than the West, so it’s going to be most likely a UNC or Sparty. With Ward and Langford being out for MSU, I would think we might have a shot. I have been less than impressed with UNC - I just don’t see a great team there. Their lack of a presence inside would bode well for us. We go to the West bracket, and I could see an avenue where we cobble together some wins, and go further in the tourney than we thought. That would be a nice surprise.

  • I’m really not a fan of the NET rankings. I think it will take us winning both the conference titles to get a 2 seed. If we dont win either we could looking at a 5 seed. The last time we were lower than a 4 seed was 2000 (8 seed) with a bunch of freshman like Collison, Hinrich and Gooden. Maybe if we end up a 3-5 we can play with less pressure. No one is really talking about us beyond the sweet 16 outside of Fran of all people lol.

  • Not really on this topic, but what will happen this evening if Louisville v Syracuse happens to run over into the time slot for the game following?!

  • @colohawks Obviously that game will be moved to ESPN news or the ESPN app. We saw the treatment Saturday with them refusing to leave a blowout for us but moving us in a blowout.

  • @colohawks they might cut it at half for pregame!🤣

Interesting choice of words in retrospect considering the Boeheim incident after the game.

    I tried not to laugh… I failed.

  • Well, it’s showtime. Biggest game of the year…so far. This is it…

  • The last time Texas Tech lost was… in Lawrence 3 weeks ago. Lawson had 25, Dotson had 20, Agbaji had 10 and 10 boards, and Kansas won by 16. Garrett didn’t play. Vick had a decent not great game. It will be a tougher game in Lubbock, but there’s no reason why Kansas can’t get a win on the road today. They have everything they need.

    Kansas 76 - Tech 71

    Let’s get it.

  • @KirkIsMyHinrich Vick had 13 pts and 6 boards-pretty decent

  • @Crimsonorblue22 I wasn’t trying to marginalize his game, he had a good game. I was just trying to distinguish it from the amazing games that he’s had this season.

  • @KirkIsMyHinrich On the radio they were saying that Bill has totally figured out how to stop their mediocre offense. No reason why they should not rinse and repeat…other than the pressure/stress of road environment.

Week of rest, sound game plan, trending up.

    KU 83 TT 69

  • KU 72 Tech 68.

  • Well guys and gals - - -we might as well figure on missing at lease close to half of the 1st half since we are following Syracuse/Duke on ESPN. - - I hate we to have to follow Syracuse on ESPN. - no one giving us hardly any chance. -

The idiot of the local sports cast here in Topeka said KU will have to hit at least 10 three’s to have a chance - -any if we don’t we have NO CHANCE – ZERO chance against Tech if we don’t. - -to that I say – -BULL SHIT - he just happen to follow that up with - - OH All I want in the K-State game today is - -Dean Wade and Stokes to make it through the game healthy and not get hurt before Monday - -hmmmm something smells there lmao - -Sucking K-Straights ass possibly - ya I think so - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer73 Like jballer, I get tired of all the guys (and now ladies) sitting on their asses and claiming to know everything about the game. I hate when the color guy has to critique a play and say, well, if he had just gone to his left hand blah, blah, blah he would have scored. Jerks. I’ve said this before, I don’t listen to the audio and instead play music while I watch the game. That keeps my blood pressure below 150/100. JK. 120/80 here.

  • On the CBS online game preview every highlight was Och dunking!

  • I wonder if this is the biggest underdog Self has been in a conference game. Right now TT is -6.

I don’t remember them ever being that big of one.

Tell me what you mean. I’m disturbingly confused.

geez I’m sorry confusing you BUT I’m not at liberty to say – lol - -guess you just gonna have to ask around or look it up. - - ROCK CHALK AL DAY LONG BABY

  • For good luck, I’m starting Devonte in a few of my Fan Duel teams. He’ll probably be the low score drop on the team, but the karma was too good to pass it up.

  • @Woodrow The line has dropped to 4 1/2. All the money is coming in on KU.

  • Man this game is sooo , big. - we have a lot of things going against us. - -Texas Tech , playing at home - - – Texas Tech wanting to get pay back for the loss at the Phog - -Then probably the only full load and feisty crowd here tonight. - - -The fighting for at least a share of the Big 12 - - Tech knowing they have to win to keep pace - - KU feeling pressure to have to keep pace a lot to overcome.

We just have to circle the wagons - stay within each other - play smart. - Got to hit SOME three’s - playing against this kind of defense - -Listening to Oachi now on pre game - -you would never tell this kid is a Freshmen - just so mature - -love this kid. - Got to get our Lunch Bucker ( Mitch ) - -and Energy ( Dave ) - need them to contribute -let’s do this - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Bill Self is the most profitable coach currently in the game. If you had bet on KU to beat the spread Bills entire career here, you’d have made a very pretty penny. It’s why I keep putting $200 on KU. I have the last 3 games…

Edit: this quoted the wrong post for some reason and I’m too lazy to fix it

  • Well of course we are going to miss the start with over 4 min to go in the Syracuse game. I hate ESPN

  • @Kcmatt7 ouch.
