    • RE: Kentucky Wildcats - Saturday - 5pm - ESPN

@jayballer73 After reading this, I’m wondering if it’s too late to cancel the game! In so many games against better competition this season, we seem to be at a disadvantage in numerous positions, but the guys figure out ways to win. They may not be “pretty” doing it, but they certainly seem to be effective.

@BShark We tend to measure a player’s worth by his in-game stats. Mitch’s contributions may be seen on the practice floor and by his encouragement during games.

    • RE: Has Bill Self Lost This Team?

@HighEliteMajor Amen to that. And what truly matters is that Q trusts in HCBS.

We are not hitting on all cylinders in so many. ways. Play hard for 25 sec and then give up an easy basket, watching an opponent rebound, not ready on a missed free throw and get out-hustled to the ball, not taking one more step to stop a pass that ends up as a 3 pointer, 3 times not getting a shot off before the shot clock hits 0, etc. Whether or not these errors are due to attitude, lack of necessary desire, lack of effort or uncertainty, who knows for sure? The sky isn’t falling when it is little things here and there that stop us. We are definitely searching for an identity and for leadership; Coach Self has his work cut out to get this team where he wants it to be. I have confidence in him because we have been in similar situations.

Not really on this topic, but what will happen this evening if Louisville v Syracuse happens to run over into the time slot for the game following?!

@FarmerJayhawk I’d be OK with TT winning B12 as long as we win the big prize in April.

Just when the light was disappearing, Doke turns it back on. Now the question is: would we rather have Doke for one year or Hurt for a year??

@dylans I really don’t see HCBS leaving. No NCAA at the next level, but the ego headaches/problems would be much greater than at this level. Every level has its particular problems and issues.

    • RE: Pivotal Game

@HighEliteMajor Charlie might have been more relaxed than normal; he wasn’t looking at the bench when he did something not quite right. Probably knew he could play through a mistake since we needed minutes.

@Kcmatt7 If Beard had his choice, would it be KU or Texas?!

@Big-Clyde52 If all of the players had been here for 1,2,3 or even 4 years, it might really hurt their pride knowing they are in danger of ending the streak. However, with all of the new people playing this year, maybe it doesn’t really bother them as much as we think. Nobody likes to lose but right now we do not seem to be truly invested in doing all of the little things it takes to win. We have very little room for error, and teams are exposing this right now.

@HighEliteMajor And I’m sure that the psychology of dealing with athletes at this level is extremely difficult at times, if not almost all of the time.

@Marco Just some random thoughts on athletes in programs at this level. As many have stated on here (and I think we all agree), high school ball is so vastly different from the college game. How quickly a player adjusts to it is different for every player. We read the rankings and reports and expect each of them to perform at his previous level. What we do not see is what is going on inside these players that allows some of them to take right off and others to struggle. The essence of coaching is finding the correct buttons to push. And even more importantly is when the athlete also pushes the same buttons.
