OK , Here - -Silvio part 2 - confusion

  • Well guys sorry more Silvio but wanted to vent my feeling -expressions and questions.

So , Ok now we know . We have once again witnessed 1st hand just how idiotic the NCAA is , how they can make themselves look like giant Ass - -I’ve read so many comments from other Coach’s heard these guys that the NCAA just went WAY overboard with Silvio , for me to think - -I just can’t get a grip on how the NCAA can hold Silvio responsible for a 3rd parties actions with Silvio himself having any knowledge of what this piss ant is doing - makes NO SENSE to me. Yet with having said that - they ( NCAA ) has done it which in turn brings me to the present.

Now KU has said that Silvio will continue to be with the team - - practice with the team - - -will retain full scholarship benefits - --( which I applaud KU for this ) he is family/blood your there for him - -that’s great. - -Also Silvio will still be able to travel with the team and sit with the team at away games through KU’S request of waivers - -I understand all that - and appreciate all . HOWEVER

Guys let me ask you. How many of us as KU fans , yes they are appealing this - I got that - -but YOU as a KU fan how many here really honestly and fully believe anything different will come from this? – I don’t sorry to say , but I just don’t . So I guess this is why I am asking this question to my fellow KU fans , and that is - - Why would Silvio want to stick around ? - -His fate has been made - - they aren’t changing squat , even if they do let’s play this scenario. - Given the ultimate best out come of this appeal - -wouldn’t Silvio be classified as a Senior when he would be eligible to play again ? - - So he sticking around here being able to do nothing for almost 2 MORE years just to be able to play ONE?

I just can’t see that happening , how is that helping Silvio? -Again man I would love to have Silvio to be on the floor for us - -but almost TWO more years before that would happen? - -I don’t see it. - If I were Silvio and I KNOW I’m not for sure but - -If I were him and they told me the decision – I’m out. - -the reason would be WHY? - I mean say I were to stick around and then after the appeal they STILL rule me ineligible – just more wasted time for me. - -Silvio needs to pick up and move to the next chapter after the NCAA screwing him over - -at least go over sea’s play a year of ball or so then try to come back and declare for the NBA- at least be making SOME money in the main time - -It’s just time for Silvio to go and do what’s best for Silvio now at this point - -just me guys , let me hear your opinions I’m all ears waiting to hear -what you think. - -should he stay? - am I wrong in my way of thinking? - I just want what’s best for Silvio - -let me know - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • One could be a red shirt year, not that I think he will stay. Remember he’s young.

  • @jayballer73 I don’t think the appeal does anything. Never heard of an appeal reducing something like this.

@Crimsonorblue22 Unfortunately, I think he loses two seasons of eligibility. So if he stayed, he’d be a senior. That’s how I understand it.

with him being young MIGHT be a Main reason he would stick around. - -I just can’t see him sitting idle for close to two years though. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

I agree on both things you said in your answer here. - - # 1 - -I don’t we would get any kind of satisfaction from this appeal, which is one of the reasons - I would leave and I just don’t see him staying Period. - -Part of my reasoning - -Why take a chance at this point? - -you have been ruled ineligible - so say he DOES wait for the decision on the appeal – NCAA continues to be ass, no hurry - -then again when they o make a decision on the appeal - -he is still ruled ineligible - -look at all the time wasted on this crap. - -In the best interest of Silvio- If he ask me what I thought? - -I think I would tell him to go - -he can at least go over sea’s like I said earler and maybe make a little money. -I mean I’m glad w trying to look out for him but I just don’t see anything positive coming from this.

Like you also said I think YES he would be a Senior too. - -He would have his Soph yr taken - - then siting out next year too - that would be his JR year - -so you are correct there too I believe. I just can’t see him riding this out for ONE yea rof playing College ball - -just can’t see it. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • No chance he sticks around and sits another year to play 1. He had Euro offers after last season and I’m sure he can find a way.

The likely scenario is they wait out the appeal to see if they can convince the NCAA to drop some or all of the 2nd year ban. That’s the only scenario that seems logical for Silvio to stick around.

  • @BeddieKU23 They might, at best, give him back second semester next year, I think. It would show people they are sensitive to all the criticism they have gotten (sure they are), but would let people know the bully is still in the room & still plans on randomly taking kids’ lunch money.

If so, and if SDS stays through next year, his pattern of availability over these 3 seasons would be odd. By semester: no, yes, no, no, no, yes. And if magic exists in the universe, he stays yet another year (yes, yes), and leaves with 2 NC’s when he grads in 2021.

  • @mayjay

I consider it a longshot they budge now but who knows maybe the media backlash and KU’s pressure (from Self & Long’s) statements change that. Roll the magic 8 ball, might be the NCAA’s decision model

I would love to see Silvio on the court - BUT it’s not happening
