The les miles effect in recruiting
-
Well ya , looks like we might have possibly missed on Dante Starks - -went to the Louisiana Boards and went under their football recruiting - -found the article about commits.
Said in the article Devante on a post/twitter seen where it said Starks was going to sign on National signing day that he changed his mind and on his twitter he stated he was going to be signing @ 8;00 a.m. 12-19 - -at Jalen Ehret High School - -that was tweeted at 11:44 on Dec 14th
Well time to move on - -ew are going to be all right - -thought we had a real shot - -anyways rock chalk all day long baby

Hard to see Agbaw ending up anywhere but KU…
-
@BShark - was this section (from which the video was taken) full of player visitors on OV or Un-OV? The section seemed a bit disinterested, sitting when the rest of the fieldhouse was standing. It was a combination of parents and teens with official badges of some sort.

Added Ezra Naylor today. Big bodied JUCO WR. For w/e reason, the staff is going HARD after wrs, they must not like what is on the roster already.
-
Well have read at least of - Reggie Todd receiving his offer - -a former SEC receiver , - Ray Vchasek was in - – -Justin Ford has closed his recruiting and announcing then the commit Of Naylor.
So we have went from ONE commit to now FIVE - -and we know there will be more - -just interesting to see who that’s gonna be. – ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

And it’s a big need. We’re graduating 4 scholarship WR’s and the returnees are less than inspiring.

I think he just instantly in love with the environment - -always a big recruiting for us. - -ya it was basketball - -but it NOW can really help us in football to
-
I’ve got a question and it doesn’t deal with any one here or AT LEAST I haven’t seen anyone here mention of this.
My question is and a lot of others wondering also - -noticing already there are some that is disappointed at our recruits so far - -not liking the caliber of recruits we pulling in. - -My response to a train of thought like that is - - -WTF
Come on know – let’s get real - - -pull your baggie out - -take a good hit - -then step back - - slap your bitch as and get a really good cold hard dose of what people call – REALITY.
What in the hell are some people thinking? Coach Miles coming in here at this late of stage in recruiting and we have some just insane idiots that just because it’s Les Miles he is ONLY going to land 5 * recruits - - -umm HELLO - - - -Houston - - we have a problem - -for these kind of thinking idiots - -get your head - -out that ass and realize , no matter who the hell you are it’s gonna take time - -just try and remember how sorry this dam program’s shape it’s in
So to thoseof you thinking like that – now Step Back give yourself a good really fricken hard sucker punch to the groin - -and say oh shit guess maybe these others are right. - -He comes in and has to try an assemble a staff - - plus recruit in what like right about 2 months?
I think with the amount of time Les ha had - -assemble staff and then umm let’s go back down memory lane shall we? - - GOOD - -so let’s take a lil looksie back to not that long ago -we had ONE – - -ONE fricken recruit with nothing on the horizon - -and yet now we have FIVE – Five in that short amount of time - -are they 5 * - no - -but for the amount of time Coach has had - -he has done fine
Now you give Les and the Staff a full year to recruit? - -you just sit back - - hide and watch - -see how this guy recruits - - Holy Bat Shit - -I mean GOG - -DOGGIES - - REALLY? --SERIOUSLY? - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Just got a commitment from Naylor’s team mate Andrew Parchment. Another WR.
-
Parchment and Naylor are freaky athletes. Really big too. Immediately juices the running game. Both should be here next month.

like some are saying I think we are probably done in this class with Juco WR’S - -watch his film - -he looks a little taller then 6’3 to me - -more like 6’4 or even a tad then that - -looks long nice hands
-
@BShark Our top 3 receivers in Booker, Johnson and Sims all graduated so not a huge surprise.
-
@jayballer73 people are just bit**ing to do it, unfortunately all fans bases have those guys. I thought we’d be lucky to get a few 4 stars with this class. If that doesn’t happen then so be it, as you said it’s plenty late in the game and most guys will probably sign here in the early session. The most important thing is to fill up all 15 spots we can with the most talented guys we can get. I don’t like seeing a high number of jucos but we have to get what we can at this point. Next years recruiting class will the one that Miles should be judged off of. If we can win 4 ( MM was the last coach to win more than 3 in 2009) or more games, that would be huge to show guys how fast he can turn this around with the right talent.
-
KU does have a couple of good receivers coming back. Stephon Robinson was solid all year and Daylon Charlot came on strong the last couple of games to give himself some momentum going into next season. KU really only needs one more reliable receiver for next year to have a solid receiving group.
-
Cole Mueller decommitted. Have to take it as a sign they have 15 better in mind.

Has to be the case. Seemed upset based on the tweet.
-
like is pointed out off other sites. - -There was no thank the staff or thanks for the opportunity at the end of his tweet.
Sounds pretty much like the staff told him umm sure you can come out - -BUT - -you might wanna check out other opportunities - -Might of wanted him to try and change to another position. - -just kind of think that umm - - - - ya. – ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

We got Terry. My god I love that kid.

HUGE GET.

Perhaps not necessarily next season but more likely moving forward when the staff has had a chance to recruit and the message its sends is that KU will be getting high caliber prospects and 3 star players might not see much playing time in the future.

I see what you did there.

Terry could be a very interesting player for KU. He’s maybe a bit of a project, but he has the physical tools to be an interior force. Even more importantly, he opens a potential secondary recruiting pipeline into Mississippi. While KU can’t necessarily count on always getting into a state like Mississippi for recruits, having connections there will always help, as Mississippi turns out a good amount of talent every year.
So far we have three HS players and three juco players. Parchment was previously at Northern Illinois, while Naylor committed to Kennesaw State (FCS) out of HS. That should immediately boost the offense by having a new QB and some new threats on the outside.
Still looking for some defensive signings at the juco level. Having the HS guys is good for the future, but the D could use some stabilizing forces as well with Dineen graduating.
-
Expect a lot of news these next two days. I expect 3 or 4 more guys. Definitely 2.
-
Flipped JUCO DE Caleb Sampson. Former Missouri player before JUCO.
-
3x3 guy. Huge.
-
I’d say Miles is thinking he’s got 15 players ready to come and that’s why Mueller decommitted. We probably would have kept him if we were gonna be a man or 2 short.
-
I’m surprised we haven’t heard anything from Jax Dineen at this point. I’d say the attempts to turn Garber either failed or didn’t happen with the receivers we have just got. One other kid here in KS I thought we would try and turn was McCullough, 3 star safety outta Blue Valley North thats got a verbal to Miami (OH). You never whos name will come thru once the fax machine gets fired up tomorrow.
-
@kjayhawks rumor is we didn’t offer Jax a full scholarship, or wanted him to blue/Grey shirt.

I’ve heard people bitching about the Juco’s - - ( to many ) - -or not wanting that many. - -Like you said NOW at this point we have 4 Juco’s - -3 High School - -true Les has offered ALOT of Juco’s - -doesn’t mean we are signing all of them. - -I think he has done fine considering the circumstance - -getting such a late start - -this years group isn’t gonna knock your sock s off - -but I think it will end up a lot better then it was going to end up.
Would of liked to get another Dineen but looks like the lil kitties are going to end up with him -heard also we have really backed off Legrande -some possible head issues goin on there - -other schools backing off also.
Come 2020 class I think look out - -thinking we are gonna probably have one of our most talented groups to ever come in. Hide and Watch - - let the Wizard do this thing. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
@FarmerJayhawk I haven’t looked up any info on him, maybe he isn’t good enough to be at this level. Haven’t heard anything outta Jay since hes been on campus either.
-
@kjayhawks I personally think he’s stuck at FB at this level, and not sure if we’re really even going to use one with any regularity. Since we’re stuck at 15 this cycle, it makes a ton of sense to blueshirt him if possible. Whether he wants to do that is a different story.
-
@FarmerJayhawk I’d move him to LB like Joe, people forget he actually played FB for a couple of games back in 2015.
-

I don’t think Jax is quick enough to play LB in the Big 12. And he’s really short. Joe and Jay are 6’2 and Jax is maybe 5’11.
-
Landed Justin Ford, 3* CB. May end up at S because of his size.
-
Didn’t get Dontye but I would think with adding Ford today and Agbaw tomorrow I think that makes some sense.
-
Coach Miles tweeted about 8:30 this evening - -stated: - -Looking forward to adding some special guys to the Jayhawk family tomorrow
Starks - -will be making his choice at 8:00 A.M. - -tomorrow
Agbaw - - will be making his announcement at 9:30 A.M. - - - we shall see. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

@FarmerJayhawk You seem to be more educated on Jax than I am lol.

Ha! Now that school is on break i just have the opportunity to watch football to my heart’s content. And it’s a glorious thing.
-
Agbaw is official.
-
Also, all five of the juco commits (MacVittie, Naylor, Parchment, Ford and Sampson) are expected to be on campus in January and participate in Spring drills. That is a big thing when recruiting jucos, as it makes it more likely that they will be 1) eligible and 2) able to contribute next season.
Fairchild, Russell, Terry and Agbaw should all arrive in the summer.
That’s nine recruits, with a position breakdown of 1 QB, 1 TE, 2 WR, 2 DT, 3 DB.
We could still use depth on defense and along the offensive line. An impact skill player or two wouldn’t hurt. With six scholarships left, that gives some flexibility. Miles has ensured that this year won’t be a complete disaster on the recruiting trail.
-
@justanotherfan i havent seen ny offensive linemen yet though
-
Neither have I. KU also added Malcolm Lee, a juco defensive end. That makes 10 signings.
-
@justanotherfan When is Terry supposed to make it official?
-
I don’t expect any o-line until late, if we take any this year. We blueshirted quite a few this year. Terry should be this afternoon but I’m still a little nervous.
-
Really good start so far with the requisite band-aid JuCo players. I will guess that future classes will depend largely on how well KU does next season; 6 wins sends a message that KU is on the rise and a few players short of being a contender which might get higher ranked prospects to consider the up and coming team. Another 2-3 win season and we are back at the usual spot. With better coaching KU could have won 5 games last season and with the improved coaching staff there is no reason not to expect at least 6 wins.
-
@justanotherfan Lee was a pretty nice snag for the staff. Most people thought he was going to Iowa. I believe he was a top 40ish JC player.
-
Another signing that was not listed earlier is Torry Locklin, a dual threat three star QB from Texas (although he grew up in New Mexico). QB of the future?
Terry is still listed as committed, though he has not signed yet.
