Beaty

  • I might not be as hard on him if he hadn’t completely screwed the roster for next year.

Whoever is has the job next year, it’s going to be difficult.

  • @BShark do you think everyone is transferring out? Didn’t I ask you that?🤔

  • @BShark Can you at least spell the man’s name right?

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 your thoughts on the game? You watch?

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 Whatever. It doesn’t change my point.

He’s a loser, a liar and a fraud that is stealing from KU.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 Didn’t see much of it, probably why they won. Last time I didn’t see a KU game was the 2016 Texas game.

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 skip the KSU game then!

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 it was a really good game.

Eh, this feels like a bit of a stretch.

  • @BShark He’s the lowest paid coach in the B12, Zenger went cheap with the hire and got what he paid for.

Despite what you think, the scholarship situation us in much better shape than when he got here and won’t take the next coach as long to fix because only last year’s class is way out of balance on JuCo’s which wasn’t his original plan, but an adjustment after a lot of his HS commits backed out. The next coach will only need 2 years to fix the current scholarship issues, not 5 like Beaty did. Weis is the one to blame for KU’s current scholarship mess much more so than Beaty is.

  • Well, it’s his own fault he couldn’t get HS guys in. I did mention in another thread that I think the next coach, if a good hire, can get KU bowl eligible in year 2. Have to retain the good FR though which is going to be difficult.

Next year will be brutal though, regardless of the coach.

  • @BShark hey now!🤨 it was a close game, kinda exciting

  • @Crimsonorblue22 Exciting no doubt, but not particularly well played by either side.

  • @BShark Largely depends on who the next hire is. I still believe Les Miles is Long’s top target and if he is the hire, KU won’t have many players transfer out.

The defense does probably regress next year because of how much they’ll lose up front, but the secondary will return mostly intact so it won’t be as bad as it could be.

The offense should be better because there will most likely be a mobile QB starting next season and most of the OLine will be back as well. The OLine coach will be the most important hire for the next coach because there us talent on the OLine, they just need a coach to develop that talent.

I do believe KU can get to 6 wins next year with the right coach and coaching staff. There’s some good pieces to build around with this team.

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 sounds good. What qb you thinking?

  • I took this out of the game thread because it belongs here.

Query: Sould we feel bad that KU won and played pretty well, with no turnovers and an actual successful 4 down goal line stand, since that makes it less likely Beatty would be fired?

Or, should we reconsider that maybe he is starting to get what he wants, and decide to give him an extended chance?

Keeping him as a lameduck coach would be costly in the long run. But if he has gotten players to buy in, would it not be counterproductive to get rid of him?

    I am torn. Hopelessness Hangover.

  • @mayjay always take the win, I think the attendance speaks for the coach. It’s to bad for the players. Post game guys said kids were coming from mass after the game.

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 Not a factual statement on the scholarship numbers, they likely will be worse after he leaves with his Juco and grad transfers. Tom Keegan ran an article on this earlier this season. Beaty has done very little to nothing in 4 years. A coach with a brain takes this roster bowling.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 winning on a butt fumble is exciting!

  • @approxinfinity so funny!

  • Agree with @Texas-Hawk-10 that Miles is the target. My sense is that he’ll retain Hull. We’ll have a shot at getting LeGendre back into the fold. With a competent line coach, Stanley at QB, and a solid OC we can take a big step forward on offense. The defense will be meh, but the drop off may not be as pronounced just because Bowen will be gone. 5 wins is definitely doable, maybe 6 if things fall right.

  • There is a slim chance Beaty is kept on for another season. Obviously it looks like a bad move at this point but he’s still employed to this point and with how bad the scholarship numbers, if we have 3 or 4 guys transfer out it will be worse than Beaty inherited. So the next guy should be given a bare minimum of at least 5 season baring no wins in his first 4. There is more con than pro to keeping him but if you force him to sign only high school recruits and keep him, it probably doesn’t hurt much except attendance. I can believe on this beautiful day a shade over 15,000 showed up and I hate that for these player because they are playing hard. I really a, proud of these guys for fighting every week regardless of the score.

An interesting and close game with a good outcome perhaps but I would hardly call it a good one.

Keegan is also full of crap on the numbers because of his personal agenda against Beaty. Tait is the guy who presented the most realistic take on the scholarship situation at the beginning of the season and it was quite a ways off of what Keegan claimed. Take anything Keegan or Benton Smith say about Beaty with a grain of salt because they have been on an extreme anti-Beaty crusade ever since Beaty essentially pulled their media credentials and called them out on their reporting last year.

Matt Tait is the guy who still has access to KU football at the LJW so he’s the best source of information from them at this point.

  • So, we’re tied for 8th in the Big 12. Maybe we have a chance to beat KState. I’m really happy with the team’s win, but why wasn’t Bender’s throw out the back of the end zone intentional grounding? Is there an exception to the intentional grounding rule for intentional safeties? I really wish we had just punted the ball away. Also, how frustrated was everyone else that Bowen stayed with the 3 man rush on TCU’s last drive? But for the butt fumble, we lose that game.
