Late Night Visitor List

  • @Kcmatt7 depends on the kid really. It hooked Jo and Wayne immediately. I think we also get a lot of guys who want to see the spectical for an official but don’t really have serious interest in KU.

  • Seems like a pretty good group of players attending, any predictions about anyone signing?

  • Per Adam Zagoria, Hampton’s dad said RJ will not be attending Late Night.

“He won’t attend Kansas’ ‘Late Night in the PHog,’ but will be at the USA Basketball minicamp in Colorado Springs, Col., Oct 5-7, and will then visit Kentucky for Big Blue Madness Oct. 12.”

  • Poop

  • Been a waste of time since the spring

  • Looks like we may actually need to land McBride.

Well I agree but rj has no bearing on that. Stanley is a flashy name but mcbride could easily have a better impact long term.

  • I don’t know that it impacts RJs decision, but just so we aren’t left out in the cold with only Charlie at PG.

  • @Kcmatt7 lots of options in 2020

  • Not a big deal on Hampton IMO. He came last year and still can come back for another official next fall or for a game. Doesn’t bother me that he wants to watch his friends play football.

You don’t expect Dotson on the roster in 19-20?

  • I expect him in 2019-2020, but not 2020-2021. Would leave us with just a senior Moore unless we landed someone else, right?

And if we don’t land Hampton, the person we do land is likely a program player. So I was just thinking I’d rather have a sophomore McBride coupled with a Senior Moore. And when McBride MIGHT have to take over as the main PG, he would at least be a jr.

But I could be thinking crazy things.

  • @Kcmatt7 what’s the thinking? 2020 is a loooong way off.

  • @Kcmatt7

I can see that happening. I expect at least 2 seasons from Dotson but it could be 3 if we are lucky.

I don’t know if the staff views Moore as a potential starting PG. We’ll see soon enough.

Otherwise I do think it would be beneficial to keep the roster relatively open for elite level talents to come in 2020, a class that has a ton of perimeter talent already popping up. We are likely to have Moore, Garrett, Agbaji & Braun at the minimum so I would think the focus would be on bringing in elite talent to mix in. A lot will change between even this fall and the spring recruiting wise

  • Also read off Zagsblog - - - -that Elijah Woods a 2020 kid from Sunrise Acad will also be here on an un-official a 6’5 point guard from Potomac MD # 102 has 22 offers at present. - - EH - - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer73 Yeah, all of Sunrise will be there.

  • Updated OP with the final list. Two new visitors and removed RJ Hampton.

  • For those whom care or need the perspective Rivals has the recruits ranked:

    2019

    • Wiseman #2
    • JRE #10
    • Stanley #31
    • Nnaji #37
    • Walker #76
    • Chandler Lawson #87
    • McBride #109

    2020

    • Thomson #66
    • Wood #78
    • Berry #121

  • @dylans Great idea. Thanks.

Sorted into likelihood of coming to KU imo

    Snowballs in hell, #FreeVisit etc…

    Wiseman

    .

No idea how seriously KU is recruiting them

    Wood

    Walker

    Berry

    Nnaji

    .

    Fair shot

    JRE

    Stanley

    Chandler

    J. Lawson

    Thompson

    .

    Fire Emoji

    McBride

  • I know there are some big names , but does anyone feel like this is a smaller group than usual?

    Maybe it’s just me.

    • I remember Matt Scott saying the staff actually prefers to do OV not on Late Night so that they have more one on one time with kids.

They still like to do that

Move JRE to hash tag # fire emoticon. It’s waaaaaay too early to rank 2020 guys, unless you know better than they do where they’re going. KU isn’t serious about many 2020 guys at all yet. Nnaji will likely wait until spring. Some blue blood (KU, UK) or high tier program (IU, blah blah) will probably have a spot left and will duke it out then. Still think Lawson ends up at Memphis.

  • @FarmerJayhawk Yeah I just assumed with the Lawson connection that it’s like KU vs Memphis for the most part. Then I had Thompson there because his dad played for Self. There is a chance KU doesn’t really prioritize either of course.

Hopefully JRE commits and doesn’t even bother taking his Arizona visit.

Zeke waiting would be nice. Seeming more and more like Hurt is going to be a later decision as well.

  • Forgot Chandler was even visiting.

Zeke coming in is big, didn’t think that was happening at all. If he waits we definitely have another big to hedge in the fallout of JRE/Hurt

First twittering of the day from any of the 19 recruits.

  • I’m really curious about how the staff could be selling on JRE and Hurt playing together. Have to think it is one or the other, right?

  • @Kcmatt7 see the Morrii for examples.

  • @FarmerJayhawk I just don’t think either will be physically capable of guarding and rebounding well enough to play them together. But I could be wrong.

  • JRE is one of the best rebounders in the class. Hurt can grab his share as well.

  • @FarmerJayhawk It’s different going against grown ass men who have been hitting the weights for 2-3 years though. Neither are built like gladiators (De Sousa) and Bill hasn’t exactly been the best with frosh bigs… I’m just voicing concerns. Odds are both will be capable rebounders and it won’t be an issue.

Playing time is an issue as well. I’m sure they are being sold on both starting, but McCormack is really good and there is a dream scenario where Silvio is back.

If the staff pulls it off, I’ll be impressed.

  • Didn’t want to start a new thread, but just read that Memphis is bringing in Drake and Justin Timberlake for their late night. That is some heavy hitting. I guess the demand for tickets was so big that they were able to sell them.

No doubt Penny has created a incredible buzz, but time will tell if he can coach.

  • That’s absolutely crazy lol. I like who we’ve gotten lately, but that’s just not even in the same league.

Looks like either Drake and JT no showed or that was some bad information…

  • To be honest, I don’t care who Kentucky has playing, because I think they overplayed their hand, and are going to whiff on the big guys. They’ll get Carey, and that’s about it.
