ESPN plus

  • I’m watching ku vb on ESPN + and it sucks! The audio was so bad the first 2 sets I had to turn sound off. The gal was being repeated on top of herself. The video is all blurry too. I’m mirroring it on my tv. It is getting better. I have cox and it’s not on there unless it started late.

  • @Crimsonorblue22

    That is not good.

What device are you mirroring from? What is its internet connection speed? Many devices will adjust resolution to connection speed/signal and also many devices that allow streaming and mirroring such as Roku sticks will also reduce quality when a poor signal or low speed is detected. I had problems with getting wi-fi signal upstairs since the main router is in the basement so I installed a repeater connected through the house power wiring and now the signal is great and so is the TV display.

  • OK guys I’m opening myself up here showing my stupidity but anyways sometimes it takes things awhile for things to sink in this thick head of mine so anyways here goes please bare with me ok?

So I have a question. - This new thing that the KU athletic dept is going to do the thing with ESPN plus where we now can watch these additional games that have been blacked out for a lot of us in Kansas that were shown on Channel 38 but like people in Topeka which is me couldn’t see - - - -So know ESPN Plus is going to now carry those right? And you pay like what 4.99 a month for it right? - - -The thing is I’m thinking of doing it so I can see late night and these games that have been blacked out - -So this is something that will be shown over the inner net right? - it won’t be some TV channel right - -just a link on the inner net correct? - -See I know that sounds stupid sorry but just trying to find out - -if I pay this is it over the inner net OR is it for another channel on the TV ? - can some one help this slow understanding guy I would appreciate it . Thanks for your patience and understanding hopefully my friends. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer73 - I believe there’s a 7 day free trial during which it can be evaluated.

I don’t have cable or satellite, just WiFi. In the past, I was able to get most games via Sling TV. I’ll try ESPN+ unless I also need a subscription to ESPN.

@JayHawkFanToo - mirroring is an issue, I agree. What looks great on my iPad isn’t always the best on the TV.

  • @jayballer73

Depends on what device you would watch it on.

For phones & tablets its an ESPN app you download right onto your device that plays the games. For me I was always asked to enter my cable package information to login. After that it was just finding the game on the home screen.

For computers, ESPN has icons on the main page with “ESPN + and Watch” 0_1536341199115_upload-fcec0c33-8fdb-4a5e-8821-4f2de87c56f4

I believe they will ask you to sign up for an ESPN account, purchase ESPN + then login and you should be able to access the games right from there.

If you have other questions feel free to ask

  • @JayHawkFanToo I spent an hour trying set up mirroring, and I’m going to have to get a new sound/video card in order to get miracast. Have you ever replaced one?

BTW, for your wireless network, you need to meet Thio Joe.

  • @BeddieKU23 OK, so if I’m wanting to watch off my desktop I would just go to the ESPN site ? and it should list the ESPN plus right?

So if I pay the extra 5 dollars it might be on my TV with my other ESPN Packages? - -sorry - told you I was slow

  • @KUSTEVE

In the old days I used to build my computers from scratch as it was much cheaper to do it this way. Once the big companies started mass producing overseas, it was cheaper to buy them assembled. Replacing a video card is pretty straight forward hardware wise and you just need to install the new drivers software wise.

Most Android cellphones and TV set less that 3-4 years old have mirroring capabilities and it is pretty straight forward. If you don’t have a smart TV, you can get a Roku stick or Chrome-cast that will make your older TV set smart. You can also mirror from iPhones or iPads but it tends to be a little ore complicated since Apple always does its best to not be compatible with anything non-Apple.

BTW, I have seen that video before but there are simpler and reasonably priced options that will do a better job.

  • I thought it was a decent deal, the game coverage was solid outside of the commentators lol. With ESPN+ you get Beatys hawk talk and press conferences. Hopefully that means you can get Bill Selfs, they will be worth watching.

  • @kjayhawks I have sat in my car to listen to Bill’s Hawk Talk many times. He is great on the radio

When you go to www.espn.com its listed on the top below the scores to the right. You will have to purchase and set up and account and stay logged in, kind of like here.

Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t believe it will be on your tv unless ESPN + was something you can add to your cable package. For that information you would have to contact your cable provider. Safe bet is you can stream the games on your computer provided you have decent internet speeds. This will just be a seperate online streaming option for you. Lots of games will be on ESPN + especially when College Basketball gets rolling.

  • @BeddieKU23 Ya it’s an inner net thing - no problem there . as I called Dish to see if it was provided - -Thanks for all the help. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @KUSTEVE Just fyi-- that’s an April fools joke. It doesn’t actually work.

    Very elaborate hoax.

    ESPN+ is available on Roku.

Yes it is. I used it last year under the free ESPN. Now they are just nickel and diming

  • @BeddieKU23

They have to considering how much audience they have lost.
