Things could be worse

  • Let me start by saying yes I know, I troll other teams throughout the Nation message boards – Yet I never post on any , I just find it interesting to read the different topics, plus I also know that there are many many other teams fans that troll our message boards and ALOT of them do post. In fact there have been some threads where you wonder who’s fan site is this as members from two different fan bases get into a heated discussion and neither of the two are KU fans but yet on our boards. I never message – I jus tread I pick up recruiting information and other tidbits - I did post on one board and promptly got booted off lmao - -it’s ok it was Kentucky - -God forbid lol.

But that is not what this is about. - -What I wanted to say is our boys have went through a rough stretch - - our boys have taken some heat - – Coach Self has taken some heat. However I DO think that possibly seeing signs that we might be about ready to get t turned around - -possible baby steps and yet.

The whole point I am making a feeble effort to make here is that things could be worse I reckon. - - -My GOD the Kentucky fan base is just beside themselves. - - They lost again last night --4 game losing streak and look bad.

People saying Coach Cal should be on the hot seat , people saying how they are sick and tired of this OAD - -how the team is lazy - -how these players should be playing - -how three shouldn’t be - - They really hot cause Cal made the statement how he doesn’t care about the record - -he cares about the kids oh that really set them off.

Saying maybe all Cal DOES care about is the OAD’S and getting the to the NBA - -how they need to change their recruiting approach - -and on - -and on - -and on sorry my friends it’s just that when I see things like this then it I realize you know what? - - Things aren’t so bad here - -ya we have some problems - but I’m confident - -I can just see little things - -Vick possibly pulling out of his funk - -Newman doing some better - I love our guys - -things could be worse - -In Kentucky yes - - " THE SKY IS FALLING LMAO " - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Lol at Cal being on the hot seat.

  • @BShark

All the talent and only one title to show in recent years, same as KU, who has not had nearly the talent UK has had and still does.

  • @JayHawkFanToo Sure but he shouldn’t be on the hot seat. It would be like saying Self should be on the hot seat. Also Cal does have a lot of FFs.

  • I mean, I love seeing UK lose. And they legitimately could miss the tournament if they lose on Saturday. But Cal isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

I am really excited to see what happens with Gabriel, Vanderbilt, Richards and Washington though. They could be horrible next season if they don’t keep 3 out of those 4.

Cal will keep them in the fold.

I don’t think UK will miss the tournament. They should get to 20 wins which LOCKS you in when your name is Kentucky.

  • @BShark

I am not saying he is in the hot seat only that the return on investment has not been great for them. With all that talent you would expect better results. Bobby Mo, Bobby Mo…😃

  • @BShark Have to win Saturday imo. Otherwise the losing streak probably gets to 6 and this team just completely folds it in.

  • @JayHawkFanToo Eh, Self is pretty highly paid too and constructed the current roster*. It’s entirely possible that the top end coaches in college hoops and football are pretty grossly overpaid…

*I like Self, obviously. I’m just saying that if we want to bring money into it Self only has 1 title too. I don’t know the contract of either Cal or Self w/o looking.

He has two less than he has. 💥

  • @BShark

I am not talking about money but how the programs were built. UK model is based on the one and done with players that the fans do not really know since they are basically temporary hired guns. Also, when you have WWW behind the scenes you know things are not on the up and up. It would not surprise me at all if in the future a lot of the UK wins are vacated like they were at Cal’s previous programs. I prefer the way Coach Self has built the program which has been an example of excellence and consistency…and, we don’t have to worry about missing the tournament.

    YEPPPPPPPP

  • @JayHawkFanToo Well, I’m definitely glad that KU isn’t doing it the same way as Cal. that’s for sure. Love having multi-year players with flaws, you get to know them and watch them develop.

  • @BShark

Having had the pleasure to watch Frank Mason develop in front of our eyes makes it all worth it.

Their talking no team Chemistry - - having trouble with basics. - -Auburn last night the commentators were talking Uk had 3 inches per man in this game - -and yet it was Auburn with the block party.

Talking about how they constantly are getting beat back down the floor way to many transition baskets for the opposition. - The fans talking they want to see a lot of these guys gone - - go ahead and go pro get someone who cares they say lol -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Me personally they can keep right on losing. - Right at the present we have picked up 3 games in the all time wins on them - -just got to keep chugging right along just like the lil red engine- with the attitude of – I think I can - - -I think I can - - I know we can lol ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @JayHawkFanToo or going to the nit

  • With all the talk about hot seats, are we about to get our big-man assistant coach back in the Phog? I’m not sure Wake Forest will tolerate another year (record) like this one. No doubt Bill will find a way to get Manning back if he becomes available.

  • Interesting to point about Kentucky. Their fans have to be livid and not only for the losses but how they have played and the lack of effort that seems to be coming out of their players. They look like they don’t care. That said, did anyone else see them listed as a potential #9 seed in the most recent Bracketology on ESPN? As awful as Kentucky has looked I would not want to see them as a potential 2nd round game if I am a #1 seed. They have a lot of talent. They have crazy fans who will travel. They may even have a chip on their shoulder if they are a #8 or #9 seed. I personally hope they go into complete meltdown mode and don’t make the tourney but just thought the potential matchup with a #1 seed was fascinating.

  • @joeloveshawks the down side if Kentucky ends up in the NIT is they could go on run to more wins than in the NCAA’s. I like that we are gaining on them.

  • KU is better off with UK being good that with UK struggling.

We already know KU is going to be loaded next year. UK is going to be very good. But think about Cal’s best teams at UK. They came after Cal had a disappointing year, because when Cal gets kids to come back as sophomores, those kids are generally the best returning sophomores in the country. They were OADs that didn’t pan out, but when you mesh that talent and experience with more incoming talent, those teams turn into world beaters.

We want UK to lose multiple guys in the draft every year, because when they don’t, they have a roster with a ridiculous amount of talent. I don’t want Quade Green returning to Lexington. Same for Gabriel, Vanderbilt, Richards and Washington. I want those guys to leave.

Think about UK’s biggest issue this year - lack of outside shooting. Quickley and Herro especially can both flat out fill it up from outside. Put them with some of the guys on this squad and look out. Keldon Johnson is a better version of Kevin Knox. You don’t want UK getting these guys and having Green, Gabriel, Vanderbilt, Richards, Washington, Killeya-Jones all returning. That’s experience, depth and talent. Last time UK had a team built like that, they went 38-1. The time before that they went 38-2 and won a national title.

I want UK to get back on track because if they don’t, they will have a monster of a roster next year because next year’s recruits address this year’s problems – you don’t want them fixing this year’s team’s problems.

Actually , I read a thread on their board today exactly about that. It said would fans be willing to travel to these sites for the 1st 2 games and then it listed all the sites. – The crazy thing is most of them said NO - -they WOULD NOT travel to watch them this year to those sites – there were some that said they wouldn’t travel ANYWHERE to watch the this year - -they are in a complete meltdown with their team. - – thing is they could have yet 2-3 more losses in league BEFORE their conference tourney.

They still have Alabama at home - - Arkansas at Arkansas( not easy ) - -Florida at Florida - -I can’t remember the other 2 but not easy so they could be looking at 10-11 losses - - -good luck with that - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer73 very interesting. To me that is a group of horrible fans if that is how they feel at Kentucky. I cheer for the Jayhawks, Chiefs and Royals in both good times and bad. I haven’t lived in Kansas for many years and only go to games that are in Chicago but being a true fan means you stay with your teams even when the chips are down.

    …unless they play Bobby Mo…😄 😃 😺
