Bracket Preview
-
Kansas being No. 6 overall is a clear sign that quadrants are going to be a huge factor this season. Jayhawks are tied for the most Quadrant 1 wins and Quadrant 1 + 2 wins. Jeff Borzello

KU knows how to schedule. Whomever is in charge of the schedule is really good at what they do. Didn’t miss a beat with the format change.
-
Lunardi thinks KU is #3 seed…
-
Wishing our scheduler would’ve taken it easy on us in conference play lol
-
@JayHawkFanToo It’s based off of the word of the bracket preview released by the selection committee as opposed to a bracktologist. It’s merely a snapshot of today. Bracketologists project out. I’m just impressed that KU is that high personally. Tied for most group 1 & 2 wins is apparently as big as advertised.
-
The Lunardi link I provided reflects who he thinks are the top 16 teams and it is different than the ones selected by the NCAA. Lunardi has KU as #11 while the NCAA has it at #6.
-
@JayHawkFanToo It says that he made his picks before the committee provided theirs. I guess your point is he isn’t too far off? I don’t believe we you are saying his opinion is more important than the actual selection committee?
-
No, I am not saying that at all. All I am sayin is that despite how many fans believe this is such a bad team, most other outside people still see KU as a very good team. The NCAA has it as a #2 seed and Lunardi as a #3.
I checked KenPom, Sagarin and Massey and KU’s strength of schedule is way up there, anywhere between #2 and #5 with the most wins over top 50 teams; OU, WVU, Tech. and Texas are also way up there and all conference teams have SOS in the top 50 and 8 out the top 10 teams are also ranked in the top 50. The Big 12 is still the top ranked conference.
What I am saying is that some fans don’t appreciate how tough the conference is top to bottom as shown by the last place team beating the top team. Oh well…

I agree with Lunardi about KU being a 3 seed right now and would even listen to a case for KU being a 4 seed. KU has 2 bad losses on their resume right now (Baylor and OSU). Texas A&M is our best win followed by Kentucky, and TCU ×2, that’s not saying a lot at this point beacsue thatmock bracket that was released is based on RPI which is what their primary tool is to seed teams.

Road win at West Virginia.

@BeddieKU23 Not based on RPI. WVU is in the mid 30’s, the other 3 teams are top 25. I know RPI isn’t the best way to measure teams, but that’s why KU was projected a 2 seed in that mock tournament bracket.
-
Other rankings such as KenPom and Sagarin are now also used in addition or instead of the RPI.
-
@JayHawkFanToo People claim that every year, but RPI is still the biggest influence on seeding and who gets in the tournament.
-
New procedures have now been implemented that allow committee members to use the RPI or one of the computer rankings for selection and seed as they see fit.
