Pre-game time killer - Mock Keegan Headlines
-
@JayHawkFanToo and u forgot me and @RockChalkinTexas
-
I was referring to KU being back in charge of the conference.
-
Not sure about that. Tech and OU both only have 1 loss and Tech already beat us in Lawrence.
-
@JayHawkFanToo still
-
Took the bully’s best punch and bloodied him right back. Most satisfying win since coming back from 14 and beating them in Lawrence 3 years ago.
-
@KirkIsMyHinrich But we have won at WVU…now they have to.
-
@Hawk8086 Yes but Tech has a win in Lawrence. If they get us in Lubbock I think they are in the best shape.
-
@KirkIsMyHinrich A lot to play out yet…we’ll see.
-
16 down!!!
-
This game woke all the old Jayhawks.

Welp? Proud as hell. What a hard fought game and I get to celebrate…Geesh.
-
Folks we just EARNED that win in what many thought would be loss. Rock Freakin’ Jayhawk
-
@betterfireE Was Mitch clutch enough for you on that put-back dunk after Dok fouled out?
edit: just in fun!
-
DG handled post game really well too!
-
-
@BShark Loves it
-
@mayjay Mitch is coming along nicely and hopefully he maintains that play. I don’t think he’s near a ceiling. I’d like him to get more consistent from that trey.
-
@truehawk93 The last 2 games before tonite he got yanked immediately after missing a 3.
-
Sleep gonna be hard to come by tonight!
-
KU outscored WVU 40-21 in the last 16 minutes of the second half.
-
@Fightsongwriter just think, huggy might not sleep at all

Breaking news.

Bilas sure didn’t give us any love last night. He was on the big Mountaineer train to “beat Kansas.”
Imagine that stupid technical on Doke happening to a Duke player? Bilas would have demanded an investigation, and probably would have been involved right there on the floor, questioning the officials and then would have had the technical removed. That is what Duke and Coach K can do and also Bilas. I don’t think most fans realize how much love Bilas gets in games. I’ve watched him question calls directly with refs during games.
He barely mentioned it in the game, and he had to say it was a bad call, under his breath.
Doke is now suffering from some bad calls like most big men face. Big men have to earn their reputations before refs start calling them fair. It’s just the way it is… and it has been that way all of my life. Big men don’t get calls until they get established at a higher status. This is one of the secret rules of basketball… probably written on the back of Naismith’s Rules of Basketball!

Keegan: Upcoming Dozen Contests to Decide Conference
-
@Gunman Ha, I just saw that, was going to post. He gets paid for that?
-
Gotta give it to him, the man has a knack for the obvious.
-
Yes! And he had a good game prior to that. I just want Mitch to develop and co tribute in March. Energy guys who can finish are essential.
-
@betterfireE absolutely!

KU Has To Score More Points Than Opponents To Win Games
-
@drgnslayr I thought Bilas said that T on Doke was a ridiculous call.
-
He also said that the 4th (?) foul on Doke looked like a rebound and not a foul.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 I think he said the refs were “over-sensitive”. Not sure if he used the R word.
-
Keegan: Big 12 Teams Want to End KU’s Streak
-
@JayHawkFanToo Only one foul was a legit one. The player throwdown was out of frusteration and had to be called.

Looking at his columns, I realized Keegan stole my idea that KU football should shift to the triple option.

He did. He just didn’t make a big deal about it.
I can’t recall ever seeing a T like that in college basketball… ever. A player gets called for a T for just looking at someone from many feet away?
Heck… Ts can be called on almost every play then.
Unless I missed something… like Doke making a comment. But it sure looked like he was just looking at Konate while walking backwards away from the dunk.
Did you understand the T?
-
The “foul” on Vick when he got sandwiched by Ahmad and konate, and the last foul on Doke to take him out and try to give the game to WV were absolutely ludicrous. Our playrs showed unlimited restraint to deal with these obvious engineering ploys by the officials. Mitch really stepped up to seal the game with the huge rebound on the D end and the O rebound and slam. Btw…watching the replay, vick’s shot was goal tended…tipped after it hit glass and missed by zebras. So Mitch s adjustment and dunk was even more crucial and impressive.
-
@drgnslayr I have seen T’s for staring. Last year or the year before, I think, there was a point of emphasis about mocking or intimidating gestures and looks.
Trying to avoid confrontations by applying kindergarten rules, someone called it, IIRC. “Teacher, Dok made a face at me!”
-
@drgnslayr Here is an article about the Ncaa attempt to get more T’s called for unsporting behavior (taunting, etc). Apparently acc to the refs in Monday’s game staring can be considered hostile or aggressive behavior toward an opponent. Basically, Doke gets punished for having grown into a man’s face from his previous baby face.
OTH, the world has seen many confrontation in sports, bars, and the street caused by staring at someone wrong. These phrases are almost cliches:
“You lookin’ at me?”
“What’re you lookin’ at?”
“Take a picture. It lasts longer.”
No doubt the refs were trying to make sure the game was under control from the beginning. I would think, though, that they could have warned him not to use his DBF (dunking bitch face).
-
@drgnslayr And I forgot last year LgV got hit just for screaming after his dunk against M State:
-
I’m all for the NCAA legislating against the ridiculous screaming, yelling, posturing, etc. directed at opponents. An issue is always the consistent enforcement.
-
@mayjay DBF! lol

Keegan: “I Want to Say I Don’t Write These Headlines”
Byline, Mayjay January 17, 2018
In a rare interview, Tom Keegan has admitted that the lampooned headlines appearing over his stories are, indeed, of his own sole creation.
“Yeah, I write them. As you know, newspapers have made huge cutbacks, especially in administrative positions like executive editor.”
Asked if the cutbacks are why he writes the headlines, Keegan sighed and said, “No, I think it has more to do with the fact that no one wants to read my crap so I am the only one who knows what’s in there.”
“Really, I want to say that I don’t write those headlines–but I can’t say that.”
-
Keegan retracts writing headlines. Then retracts retraction .
-
Thanks for the link!
Yeah, I understand how almost any behavior can draw a T… but just looking at a player from a distance while backing up? I would like to hear an explanation for that T.
I’m starting to second-guess myself. Maybe Doke said something and it wasn’t visible on TV.
Anyone know?
-
@drgnslayr Doke said he just stared at him. I believe him
