Most Improved player this year?

  • Who ya guys got? Why

  • I’ll start. Easy answer would be Doke. He’s exceeded my expectations so it was tough to pick against him.

Devonte Graham is the most improved Hawk in my mind.

Why? Having to play 36 minutes a game with no backup is not easy. The pressure is on him, he knows it. We are a discombobulated bunch without him on the court. His numbers are up across the board, his scoring production is starting to creep up towards 20 a game, well above that in conference play so far. That’s rare company at KU. His PER, 24, is excellent for the burden he has to carry every game. Lately he’s been more aggressive getting in the lane averaging 9 FT attempts per game in conference play. This team will go as far as Devonte can take them.

  • De Sousa! (I mean, really, can you think of anyone else who probably got better at a quicker pace than him?)

Maybe by March we are saying that

  • Think I would go for a tie… Devonte and Doke! They have both come to play a different game over their game last year.

  • I think it is easily Udoka. Skilled, soft hands, nice feet. He’s clearly progressed. Big guy we can count on. With Devonte, his approach has made him better – more driving, more drawing of fouls.

My second pick behind Udoka, though, would be Svi. He’s shooting 9% better from 3 pt range, he’s improved on rebounding from 1.9 to 3.1 per 40 minutes, and on scoring by 5 points per 40 minutes.

  • Yeah it’s Doke, even his progression during the season has been pretty great.

  • What @HighEliteMajor said and Udoka is not even close to his ceiling. Once he learns the basics of getting himself in position at both end of the court he will be a beast.

  • That most improved player thing seems to change from game to game. I am still hoping to see Vick rise to the title which was forecast for him, back in October. As yet, he is not exactly nursing hind teet, but he has a long way to go to prove himself as most improved.
