How many credible D1 bigs does OU have?
If > 2, then OU = Trouble
Only the one that I know of - -that’s Bamba. - dam that name sounds more like some kind of exotic dance than a players name roflmao. - - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Young had 32 and 10 last night. Scoring and finding people is what he does. This team is all about what he can do for them
-
It’s amazing what a NBA caliber PG will do for a team. OU probably finishes in the top half in the conference if he had been there last year.

Definitely. Without Woodard for most of the year last season they were a mess. Will be interesting to see how he does in the meat of the schedule especially facing KU (the school he could have went to)

I don’t think Coleman is much of an NBA prospect but I have noticed the difference he makes for Texas
-
Bamba plays for Texas. Latin and Freeman are the main two bigs at OU.
-
KenPom has OU’s offense ranked 36th and KU’s 5th. The unadjusted numbers for OU may not be as flattering as they seem.
-
Young is the difference between OU being a Conference top or bottom half team. I would like to see Garret on him and see the freshmen Duke it out.

Garrett already knows him well from HS ball. Held him in check too. Good Call there

@BeddieKU23 what would we have done w/young? Certainly not 20 shots for him?
-
Young made the right decision for himself.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Certainly not! He would have to blend in and that’s tough for a volume shooter to do. Ask Svi.

He would have made our perimeter an embarrassment of riches beyond what we already have. Young is thriving in a system catered to his style and he has the keys to the car while he’s there.
He certainly wouldn’t get the usage he’s getting at KU, shots, assists etc. The best for him is showcasing what he does well in order to minimize what he can’t overcome physically
Will be nice to kick his butt twice though

Mason was a volume shooter in HS, changed his ways and 4 year later he was the concensus POY.

@BeddieKU23 can’t wait!

Simple competence at the point last year makes Texas a tournament team. I watched them three times last year and was amazed at how often they would go extended stretches in games without being able to even get into their offense, even when not facing a press. They just simply couldn’t get guys into the right places on the floor, or couldn’t get the ball to them in those places.
Simply having a decent PG has made Texas worlds better this year. Having a potentially elite PG has OU looking like a good team. Think what Iowa State would be if they still had Monte Morris this year. The college game is dependent on good PG play because the players are still so young that they need someone on the floor in order to execute even the most basic sets.
When Coach Self made his Topeka YMCA comment, it stemmed from PG play. Capable (or incapable) play at the point can make a good team look bad (or vice versa).

Just thought I’d let everyone know I haven’t missed a shot all year.
-
That’s what I think.
He could never compete with Devonte at the point and would have had to settle for “first off the bench.”
Sounds like he wouldn’t have liked that… causing team distractions for us.
-
Yes, I agree… and we’ve had our years of weak PG play, and it cost us dearly.
I don’t think many fans realize the PG is essentially like the quarterback in football… the general on the team.
Just ask the Green Bay Packers how important the quarterback is!
-
Completely agree.
Iowa st has resorted to a wing to run the point because they don’t have a good option right now to run the team.
A thought reading through your post. We will be relying an awful lot on freshman next year to run the team. Dotson is everything hes been talked up to be but still he will be going into every situation as something new. Moore isn’t a point guard but I think he will develop in time to be an option. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Grimes and Dotson splitting pg responsibilities next yr. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Grimes getting time at the position because his game looks like it’s advanced enough to be relied on

I’m thinking it’s possible Devonte goes pro if we land Young. Either way I think Young would start, but wouldn’t get the shot volume he wants.

I saw that Weiler-Babb is playing PG now; he did have 6 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists in the last game and the new players are starting to produce. ISU will be much improved by the end of the season.
