LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR

  • Ok, den. Dotson and Zion sign. We will have Charlie, Garrett, Cunliffe, and I think Vick comes back, along with Dotson. The front line is the Lawsons, Doke ( don’t tell me he’s going pro- he’ll have his hands full getting up to the college level ), Mitchell Robinson, Preston, Lightfoot, and Zion. We’ll be stacked like a brick s*it house.

  • @KUSTEVE Doke go pro. Goes to dough. No doh.

  • @KUSTEVE jethro! Calm down, take a dip in the cement pool, swig some of granny’s moonshine, hunt some squirrel!

  • You forgot Grimes.

  • @BShark Our 2nd stringers would be a Sweet 16 team. I mean…are you serious? That much talent. Scary good…

  • @KUSTEVE Wait, I thought there was a talent embargo?

  • @Fightsongwriter That theory was never advanced by me…

  • If we have anything close to that lineup, everyone better look out.

  • Unless Cunliffe is better then we saw in Italy we can count him as a practice body. Still a lot of time for the kid to prove himself here but in HS he bounced from school to school and has done the same in College. Would not shock me to see him do the same after seeing what Self brings in on the perimeter

He will have to improve a lot. How he played in Italy backed up what I thought based on limited exposure of watching ASU games as well as what ASU fans were saying. He just…isn’t a basketball player YET. Might never be. Time will tell.

  • There is a reason why the statement exists about not counting chickens while marveling over the eggs.

It is fun to dream of the possibilities… but I don’t get too deep in this because then I’m totally let down when one or two players don’t work out.

  • @BShark

It’s disappointing to see a former Top 50 player be with the program for over 7 months and provide little confidence that he can be anything more then the 9th man on this roster. That’s where Cunliffe is at after Italy. No sugar coating, no excuses, he’s last on the depth chart. I’m sure that is not where his father or where Sam wants to be. I’m sure that if he doesn’t improve and find a way into the rotation Sam won’t be here after this season. We see it all the time. Either Sam was just a good HS player and was over-hyped coming in or he’s just taking a long time to adjust to the new situation and will stick it out where he is now.

Self is probably going to recruit over him, he might have already with KJ who has some skills that make him a good rotation piece either on the wing or in small-ball 4 lineups. The chance that Zion lands here or Vick returns as a Sr only put Sam even further down the road from a meaningful role here. He’s going to have to show a lot in the next 4 months and 2nd half of the season

I would say it’s pretty clear he was mis-evaluated. He wasn’t good at ASU either. Some people wanted to cherry pick some stats, like his three point shooting. That doesn’t work though, his total game matters. Now obviously he was on a bad team but still, he did not impress.

I was down on KJ too, but he has more to his game than Cunliffe. As well as a willingness to get dirty and bang around that I’m not sure Cunliffe has.

  • @KUSTEVE Psyched if that pans out!! But I think Vick is a pro after this year.
