DG news!

  • @HighEliteMajor

Yep. I prefer him to Duval for this reason, plus Duval has no trey ball. I hope Svi is back as well.

  • According to Adam Zagoria, – Coach Self really would like to play Duval with Graham & Newman – -I just don’t see it, Heard a interview with Duval from the Nike Hoops Games - -saying he wants to make a decision probably the end of the month.

I guess weirder things have happened but umm I sure don’t feel this is going to be one of them. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @SkinnyKansasDude

    Good points.

I think Young didn’t want to compete with Devonte but honestly Young wanted to stay home so I don’t think one player was the issue for young. He saw how Mason was doing and still stuck with OU. His choice…

Garrett is definitely underrated. I mean practically nobody saw him much before he signed with KU. Had a great year and was rewarded. A lot of people don’t think he will be a point guard and at his size he’s probably going to be a SG/Wing at this point. I liken him to a player that grows out of position but keeps his skills and that’s what Garrett is. Hope he adds muscle and keeps toning his shot. The word is his defense is something we can count on from him early. Such an exciting prospect

  • @BeddieKU23

The staff nailed it locking down Garrett early.

As for the PG thing he will never, imo, play the lead guard position for KU. I do think though that he will handle the ball and facilitate a lot, particularly by his JR year (assuming he is still around) so it’s a little bit of semantics.

  • Was told yesterday at lunch with my uncle who has been doing business in Lawrence for 30 years and has pretty deep ties that both DG and Svi are returning. He has usually been correct With the info over the years.

  • @Blown

Thanks for the info. I’ve seen a lot of conflicting things on Svi. Hope your uncle is right.

  • This team just reloads. It was vital that we get to see the best of Devonte. He is a great player who deferred most of the year to Frank. The chip on his shoulder for that Oregon game will be great motivation for next year in the tournament. Now that actually means we are

    LOADED

  • A senior Graham is better than any OAD. Svi has dropped off many mock drafts and short of playing in Europe his path to the NBA appears limited now. Next year’s draft is heavy on bigs and he would be better off waiting Since he still is pretty young. After 3 years I would think that his parents would prefer he stays in school one extra year and gets his degree.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 YAH! FREEKIN FRAK YAH!! DG! D-TAE’

Ok now I’m done jumping and hollering.

We all knew we were going to be good next year. DG coming back just solidifies that.

SVI is coming back unless he is going pro over seas. Svi isn’t NBA ready yet and I’m fairly certain his parents are in his ear bout getting his degree from KU

  • A question… I love devonte and am so so glad he’s staying, but he can’t do the things frank did… who will drive and draw fouls like frank did? Frank could singlehandedly take over and change the nature of a game by driving and either scoring or getting to the line

  • @Bosthawk Newman is capable of doing most of the things Mason is as far as scoring goes.

  • Now we need Svi to come back and sign another big man. Tilmon would be fantastic but Misery looks like his destination. But you never know. Duval or Juiston would be terrific gets as well.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 It does make you wonder.

  • @BShark Nice timing

  • @SkinnyKansasDude I actually can’t wait to see Young struggle against some real DEFENSE. This high school wussy defense that makes you look like an NBA all-star is deceivingly ridiculous. Young will struggle at the next level. Graham will take him to school.

  • @wissox #2 in updated NBA draft? WHY NOT?

  • The speculation of Duval is interesting. Correct me if I’m wrong, but we went through a similar experience with Wiggins. If I remember correctly, we were a long shot with FSU and I think UK was also a solid fav for his services. Many were completely positive that he was going to FSU because of his mother. I think you know that rest of the story.

Duval is in a similar position with Puke and Zona. Like Wigs he will start wherever he goes, but where will he fit best. What was it about KU that Wigs picked KU? He later revealed that Self’s ability to teach defense was attractive to him. I think he liked the team too. Let’s hope that Duval finds something that attracts him away from Puke and Zona to KU.

Maybe DG’s return will sway him to or away from KU?

  • @truehawk93 I’ve no idea just what Duval’s pt. guard situation would be at Duke or Arizona. But at KU he can share the floor with one of the best and most experienced floor generals on a possible Final 4 squad. A chance to start with Graham and Newman? WOW! With VIck and maybe Svi chomping at the bit to share floor time and a coaching staff currently second to none. A virtual blessing of an opportunity for Duval. And for KU, a guard who can go to the bucket!

  • Graham came back to run the show. Duval wants to run the show. Devonte isn’t deferring to anyone this season. This Duval talk is over

  • @BeddieKU23 it isn’t over until it’s over, which is when Duval commits. He hasn’t committed yet, so it’s not over.

  • @REHawk

Duke doesn’t have a PG so he’d automatically be their floor general.

Arizona has 2 PG’s on the roster- a Senior and an incoming freshman ranked in the low 4 star end. They also have a transfer with size who can facilitate.

  • @BeddieKU23 isn’t Frank Jackson staying though?

  • I’m glad DeVonte is returning for his senior year. His experience will be invaluable. I’m still mystified by his disappearance against Oregon. His offensive absence reminds me of Selden’s goose egg during the Wichita State game. DeVonte’s 26 against Purdue and 3 against Oregon is exactly the difference between success and failure in the tournament.

  • @HawkChamp

Most likely, but they will use him the way Devonte was used this past year. Jackson is a scorer, not a PG

I look forward to seeing Garrett beat Young just like he did in HS. 😀

  • @truehawk93 He still has announced so I’m being hopeful. I think I’ve heard some slightly, well, if my imagination runs wild, statements that he may come back.
