NEW ASSEMBLY HALL BRACKET
-
I could see them putting Virginia in our bracket instead of Florida. I am not privy to the NCAA bi-laws on facing a team from your conference, as the Wahoos facing UNC in the Sweet 16 of the South Region would seem too early ( although I could be wrong ). I thought two conference teams could only face each other in the Regional final. I am not afraid of Virginia in the least.
-
Would this make Virginia possibly going somewhere else? UNC/UVA have played twice already
Teams from the same conference shall not meet prior to the regional final if they played each other three or more times during the regular season and conference tournament.
Teams from the same conference shall not meet prior to the regional semifinals if they played each other twice during the regular season and conference tournament.

@BeddieKU23 Nice response. I did not know that.
-
This article from January shows the process in case you had other questions
-
It amazes me that #3/2 UCLA is still sitting on the 3 seed line. You’d thing that’d be a team ranked in the double digits.
-
@dylans bad SOS is not helping them. They have no bad losses, but at the same time they don’t have those 15 solid wins.
-
@Kcmatt7 UCLA won at Rupp and beat Arizona. Their resume isn’t too shabby as far as signature wins go. The Pac12 isn’t the Big12, but a 2 seed seems more appropriate for UCLA at this time. We shall see how they do in the PAC12 tournament.
I shouldn’t get worked up over mock brackets the real one never looks anything like the mock brackets. I can guarantee a few head scratchers on seeding.
-
Dissecting that Bracket as it stands some things to note.
Virginia/Cincinnati in the 2nd round would possibly be played in the 40’s. Two defensive teams praying to score.
Oklahoma St/Kentucky 2nd round would be an exciting game!
Villanova would have the hardest path to Phoenix. That’s a brutal looking bracket.
-
@BeddieKU23 Hey, was Okie St playing a packline defense last night? It was hard for me to tell if they were playing man, a 2/3 zone, or a packline.
-
@dylans No I agree. I actually think they should be a #1 seed. But they played cupcakes in the non-con besides UK. And a 14 team conference is only getting 5 teams in… Just doesn’t help their case with the committee.
-
@KUSTEVE I saw man. Ole forte was doing his patented move, shot fake- jumping into the defender. Saw 2 of 'em. About killed one guy, landed on him. Better not happen sat! Like to see him fall on his face!
-
Seemed like some variations of man. I heard Underwood simplified their defense after the 0-6 start and that has helped the team overall. They gave up way too many 3’s to ISU last night and one terrible call at the end certainly didn’t help either
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I’ve often wondered if Forte has regretted going to Okie St since his buddy Marcus left ??
-
@nuleafjhawk I thought he might be a grad transfer after last year. Maybe he welcomed a new coach?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 So let me get my head around this: Smart trained to fall backward on his own, Forte trained to fall forward on his own. Can’t they just stand up and play basketball?
-
You have to think Forte is a bit smart-er falling forward. Draws the foul 99.9% of the time.
-
@BeddieKU23 I think last year he tried w/us and didn’t get the call, screwed his leg up if I remember right. Maybe the year before? Did he play at all against us last year before he got hurt?
-
@ParisHawk ha! Good one! Really like to get the jinx off that place!
-
I believe it was the game 2 years ago he hurt himself doing it. He’s done this for years and been rewarded even though they changed the rule to not reward him for it
-
I have terrible memories about Stoolwater. They have handed our heads to us on more than occasion.
-
What days would we play in Tulsa? Some said fri/sun?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 i keep hearing fri/sunday, but not sure how that has been determined without the pool being released yet.
-
@Kcmatt7 I’d rather watch KU beat no D UCLA, by ratcheting up ther own D down the stretch, than see KU play all D Virginia. Those 40-50 games are boring.
-
-
@BeddieKU23 could be daytime still?
-
yes. Only thing we don’t know will be the timing.
-
We aren’t going to get a 6th big XII team in are we?
-
It’s not looking good.
TCU plays K-St tonight so this is basically an elimination from the bubble. Both teams are part of the Next Four Out from Lunardi’s bracket. Either team must win both remaining conference games and not bail out in the first round of the Big-12 tourney to keep their hopes alive.
-
@BeddieKU23 since tcu got screwed on that call against wv, I hope they get in. Still wondering about Ahmad, at wv?
-
boy did they ever get screwed. TCU needs a big win against the top of the conference. Best win to date is Iowa St
-
Five teams are pretty much locked in. TCU, Tech and KSU play each other and depending how it goes and how far into the tournament each team advances, I would think that at least one of the 3 will make it…and maybe two. The Big 12 has been the strongest conference all year and if a 14-14, 4-12 Clemson teams is still being considered, I can see where one or even two Big 12 have to be considered as well.
-
@JayHawkFanToo Oh yea clearly KState and TCU are bubble teams. But I just am not sure either of them can make it 3 games without shooting themselves in the foot.
-
Weber playing for his job and I am not sure this is a good or bad thing…players might want him gone…
-
I remember Forte’s freshman year back in 2009 when he front flopped.
And people made fun of perry for being at ku a long time. He must be 31! Sheesh.
