WOW

  • put this here as it is pertaining to basketball, just read Lonzo Ball’s younger brother, - - -Lamelo a 2019 pg commit, scored NINETY TWO POINTS in a win over Los Osos, in a 146-123 victory. not overtime.

he was 37-61 from the field , 7-22 3 pt shooting 7 assists 5 rebounds - -he scored 41 points in the forth quarter, they said only had 29 at the half lol.

He previously scored SEVENTY TWO in a win over Rancho Christian Calif, - just found this kind of, crazy that’s all. – -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 was it him or the middle brother that scored 72 previously? I’ll be honest, the cutesy names and helicopter dad as their coach and running up their personal stats makes me despise them without ever having watched them. I’ve deliberately avoided all three of them. And it makes it easier for me to smugly believe from my self-induced bubble that my POY candidate is a greater person, and a greater player than some PAC-12 punk.

  • @approxinfinity

The youngest brother scored 92. The middle brother is resting for State Playoffs.

Neither are as good as Lonzo but they put up ridiculous numbers

  • @approxinfinity from what I read from the article, I think it was him, if I remember it said he had scored the 72 earlier. - -Guess it’s time to " Google " lol. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL TIME LONG BABY

  • @BeddieKU23 ya I had to look him up afterwards and seen he is like rated I believe like 51st on 247 maybe lower, kind of thought Whaaaaaaaaa? - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 ha you read it before I edited out my joke. I may be wrong. Read it during bout of insomnia.

  • @approxinfinity LMAO, aren’t these edits awesome lol - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Fwiw I’m happy with you googling things for me 😄

  • Just heard Jeff Goodman doing an interview about the Ball kids. - They were saying that actually, - -Coaches are upset with the Ball kids. - -All 3 going to play at UCLA. Lonzo of course already there, then LaMelo already committed and then the youngest LeAngelo a sophomore. . The AAU coaches, the High School coaches not happy, are upset, saying the Ball kids approach is try to trap, when you can’t let them go so you can jROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABYack up more three’s - and they say that’s not how it’s done your surpose to try and play some defense. - -

  • @approxinfinity GOTCHA - - -stick around and we will see how fast that takes place lol - – -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @approxinfinity

Wasn’t there a college players that score an unreal number of points not too long ago? I think this type of games are a sham because all they do is get the ball past mid-court and chuck a 3 and play no defense because the emphasis is getting the ball back as soon as possible. This is the way the Early 80s Denver Nuggets were and they either missed the playoffs or did not make it past the first round.

I don’t believe players like that are suited to play in elite teams with balanced talent; they are better suited for a small program where they are allowed to fire away and no one cares how much they score. Look at the UCLA team now, they are ranked pretty low in defense (#117} and the emphasis is in scoring (#1); it would never fly at KU…

  • @JayHawkFanToo

Chino Hills the team the Ball’s have played for won 61 straight HS games until losing to Oak Hill and Billy Preston’s team last week. The method has worked including winning on the AAU circuit. Chino plays a national schedule as well. Not that I’m trying to defend their style of play or how its negatively affecting their reputation or how coaches feel about them but these kids are winning. It’s unorthodox to say the least and I’m sure in some capacity the style will be mimicked.

Lonzo played the same way and is leading UCLA to a great season and will be a Top 3 pick.

Wasn’t there a college players that score an unreal number of points not too long ago?

I believe you are referring to d-3 Grinnell with Jack Taylor from 2012

    http://deadspin.com/5962514/d-iii-players-138-point-game-is-a-sham-record-and-shouldnt-be-celebrated-by-anyone

  • @BeddieKU23

Yep, that was the game. UCLA is doing well but if they get matched up in the NCAA with good defensive teams, it might not make it past the first weekend.

  • @JayHawkFanToo

I agree either a good defensive team or a good offensive team to exploit their poor defense is UCLA’s Achilles heel.

  • I’d bet UCLA makes the EE minimum.

  • 146-123 in a 32 minute basketball game? No defense whatsoever. From what I saw, he didn’t go past half court to play defense. That is not very impressive.

  • @BShark

The NCAA is all about match ups and a good amount of luck. A bad match up and you are gone…remember Stanford?

  • @JayHawkFanToo

Not sure what team is a bad match-up for an excellent offensive team. Their defense is a bit of an issue but unlike us they at least have a post rotation.

  • UCLA probably gets to the Sweet 16 just based on the fact that the teams they will face early in the tournament likely won’t have the firepower to stay with them. UCLA can hang 90+ basically whenever they want. Not a lot of college teams have that type of scoring punch, so I doubt they get upset really early just because they are a hard team to stay with offensively.

  • @BShark

An excellent defense with a good offense?

  • @KansasComet how fun to be their teammate? Think they’d like to play for Self?😂

  • @KansasComet Probably very true. That’s the thing they were talking about on ESPN, they said the AAU coaches - -the high School coaches not to happy with the Ball brothers, but they also mentioned how the Balls were so good on the floor, but if you tried to talk to them OFF the floor how quiet and almost timid they are. - -Dad does all the talking for them, – there you have it - -the influence, - -they guy was ask what he thought dad would think about how his son’s are looked at about no defense - -the reporters response? - - Oh I’m sure the dad doesn’t care - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @JayHawkFanToo

Other FF caliber teams basically. So maybe a handful of teams this year like UNC, Nova etc… Wouldn’t expect them to play such a team before the EE but it is the tournament so you never know.

  • @BShark

I don’t know…there is always a Norfolk State or Bucknell or Florida Gulf Coast or other heavily under scouted teams that pulls surprises in March…who would have thought that Northern Iowa and Farook-whats-his-name would go crazy and beat overall #1 seed KU and #10 Saint Mary’s would beat #2 Villanova in the same round? UCLA was trounced at home by Arizona and lost to a very pedestrian USC team that is ranked in the 40s.

  • I think some people think they are vulnerable in the early rounds for the disparity in their offense to defensive efficiency.

  • @jayballer54 Yeah, I read that Dad already said his three kids were gonna be better than Jordan. WTF!?

    No, That’s not gonna happen.

  • @Lulufulu LMAO, ha, he sounds like he might be just a little left of center if he is saying that. I hate it when pops tries to pretty much dominate a kids life, not let him be a kid, trying to make him THAT superstar. – I’ve seen where it has had that adverse reaction, where the kid grows to hate what they are doing because of it. - - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @Lulufulu now with my case my dad knew I had the talent - -but yet he didn’t push me, he let me work at my own pace, he didn’t try and force me. - -He help sit up aids for me to improve things like hung a tire up and would get it to swinging to help me focus with control pitching - -he took an old milk container you happen to know, what were they % gallon cans sit it up and I had yo try and pitch to get it in that little opening, my brother worked with me for hours, day in - -day out catching for me, till he finally couldn’t take it any longer cause I turned his hand so red and bruised from catching when I pitched. - - My best friends dad would catch for me while I practiced they had to buy extra padding for the catchers mitt cause threw to hard and would bruise their hands and turn them beat red. But I appreciated those things cause they weren’t forced. it can come back and bite you in the ass. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @Crimsonorblue22 lol, ahh the baseball lol OH YA - - - went through time with the Cincinnati Reds - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 that’s impressive! You play high school baseball in Topeka? Might not have had bb then?

  • @Crimsonorblue22 yes started out in the little league, and then went into what they called Suburban league, then a pony League and then High School and Legion Baseball… - - - Was really blessed, cause the Catcher on most of my teams happened to be my best - - friend, and his mom and Dad was like a 2nd mom and dad tome, they too stayed on me, helped me, pointed of defencies , helped me fix them, stayed on me when I wasn’t really motoviated, between all of them kept challenging me to do better…- -Had my two main pitches for some time growing up - -the curve ball, have to admit nasty nasty curve lol- -then strictly power. - -clocked my fast ball when I was 17 at the speed of 98 mph. - -Also kind of developed a little knack had two deliveries If I wanted my speed would come straight up over the top - - If I wanted a little more accurary -I’d come 3/4 sidearm - -hitters and even myself actually really didn’t know from pitch to pitch which way I was taking it home lol kept them guessing. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @Crimsonorblue22 Hell no, not in a million years. “The ball doesn’t stick” is Bill Self’s motto!

  • @jayballer54 The oldest brother that plays for UCLA, Lonzo is a great ball player. His brother’s however, are volume shooters and need to show that they can move the ball. We have seen them shoot it, but what else do they have to their games?

  • To be honest I watched some of this game and I could’ve scored 60. The Ball kid didn’t even go back on defense half the time because they knew the other was gonna score 90% of the time and threw it to him from across court for a dunk for probably half his points.

  • @kjayhawks I did see a clip about that game and they were raising money for a girl in their school. Google it👀

  • @Crimsonorblue22 Thoughts and prayers to young student that needs a heart transplant.

  • @KansasComet fill us in, is that why he was cherry picking?

  • @Crimsonorblue22 Definitely. Young lady is a sister of a member of the High School Dance Team and she needs a heart transplant. The youngest Ball brother dedicated the game to her and scored as many points as he could. His brother was injured and did not play in the game.

  • @KansasComet always 2 sides to a story!

  • @Crimsonorblue22 The team as a whole dedicating the game to this young lady and having members of both teams and maybe few LA area athletes that were on twitter referencing the game, sign the game ball and present it to her would bring more awareness to her situation.

  • @jayballer54

Now, this is really, really interesting stuff…let us know what happened with your baseball career…

  • Well story even though back in the early 70’s when that was me - -you really didn’t have a lot of left hand pitchers, which was a bonus for me, got to go to Cincinnati’s farm system after a tryout at Butler County, went to the farm system- -but just didn’t work out couldn’t get over the hump, I guess I was looking for a quick hit - -the quick trip up and that just doesn’t happen, and of course you didn’t make near the money then as you do know, frustration set in and I dunno still frustrating.

A lot going on, getting married trying to settle into that - frustrated over not achieving where I wanted to be, - -I remember going back to my old high school watching a football game, and ran across my old Base ball or one of my old Coaches and he asks , says can I ask you a question - -so I say sure, and he says WHY didn’t you try a little longer maybe harder to hit your goal, make THAT major – and I couldn’t really give a solid answer, and he says well I know this he says I’ve seen a lot of players, coached a lot of pitchers - -and I’ve NEVER seen a pitcher be able to throw a curve like you make makes your break, - -and then your velocity was sweet, and it was great to get the compliment - but yet just brought back the frustration ya know lol – -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54

Typically, for a PG you’d rather see the big numbers in assists instead of a points.

Depending on his size, he sounds like a better pick as a 2-guard.

  • @justanotherfan

Until UCLA faces a team with a REAL M2M defense! A hungry team fighting through screens, disrupting their flow and sticking to all their guys like glue.

That’s when UCLA will get exposed.

Their defense is subpar. I like UCLA… always have… but I don’t take them serious until they put up more on defense. They have time left and have the tools to become decent.

UCLA Basketball: The Hard Reality of Not Playing Defense

  • @drgnslayr teams can almost score at will inside against them. Our defense, while rated in the thirties, is not nearly as bad as theirs.

  • @HawkChamp

    Very true!

BTW… UCLA is being exposed right now at home by Oregon. Current score: Oregon 37, UCLA 18… with 6:15 left in the first half. Looks like Oregon might hang 100 on the Bruins on their home court.

  • @drgnslayr Imo, Oregon is the better team right now. But they started standing around with about eight minutes left and choked the game away.

  • @HawkChamp

They were doing great until I mentioned them.

    I am the ultimate jinxmaster!
