Border War

I wrote "at best." We should all be concerned about the changing direction of this team.
-
I predicted 38-20 a few days ago. Just got the teams turned around.
.
Pretty obvious that LL isn't the savior we were looking for. We'll always be KU football. I'm already preparing for my ass whoopin from K-State fans -

Check espn for Drinks comments about KU pregame Border War message. That's why he wanted to run up the score on us.
-
@crimsonblu22 he doesn’t understand the history of this rivalry
-
Well, we lost, that’s no fun.
But the game was exciting to watch. Seemed competitive for awhile, to me at least.
A few thoughts:
— our O and D lines need work, or Mizzou’s were awesome.
— Marshal. Hmmm. It was his first big boy game, so maybe he just needs more seasoning, But that wasn’t pretty. He threw high, he threw low, he had no proper form to be accurate at all. And wow were those some ugly picks!
— I am 100% not sold on our running game. IMO Edwards is a tiny little dude who should only be used in open space. Not a full time back. Willis has the size and energy, but doesn’t seem like the brightest guy. I’m sure ya’ll saw his lack of blocking ability. Doesn’t seem complex. See dude, hit dude. No form whatsoever. Wow. Marshall should not be leading our team in rushing attempts.
— where were those two aggressive, speedy defenders we saw last week? Didn’t even see em play!
— I didn’t expect to win this game, but thought we would be competitive. I thought we mostly were. Imagine if we had a semi experienced QB who could have made better throws…it would have been closer.

@JoJoAndMe you're very optimistic. The way it looks to me right now it's a one win season.
-
That game went about as expected. The good news is our season is far from over. If Marshall can start playing like a serviceable starter I think we have a shot at a bowl game.
-
McComb 13/13 3TDs 234 yards against Holy Cross.
-
Anybody hear how bad Ballards injury is?
-
If any of you are into trivia, I have one sure answer for you. Q - "Who’s the world's biggest dumbass?
A - nuleafjhawkEvery frickin year at the beginning of football season I am like THIS IS IT! THIS IS OUR YEAR. We're going to win 9 games and humiliate K-State. Every damn year.
Then by halftime of the first game against The Oklahoma School of Horseshoeing I realize we're still the same crap team we've always been and always will be. Basketball can't get here soon enough.
-
@nuleafjhawk hate to be the bearer of bad news but we haven’t competed for a conference championship in basketball the last 2 years and I’d not hesitate to bet my life we won’t be this season either. However many millions we spent on the FB team this year was a total waste to be lucky to win 3 games.
-
@kjayhawks2.0 right. But our chances are a helluva lot better in basketball than football.
>
-
@nuleafjhawk I think our chance are better to succeed in volleyball and baseball personally

The OLine isn't good enough that a serviceable QB wins a lot of games. Marshall appears better suited as a RB at this point, but the OLine is bad enough that the offense needs Marshall's running ability to be able to create enough time to get a pass off.

Some thoughts from far away. I just spent a dream vacation/retirement trip to Switzerland and had to come home today, really yesterday. So at 3 AM Geneva time, we're walking to the airport since shuttle buses weren't running yet and I'm 'watching' KU play on my ESPN app. Semi encouraging first half disappeared with a 2nd half that looked like last years version of the game. Watching the game on the live updates wasn't very encouraging as turnovers and penalties seemed to derail their chances.
There seemed to be a lot of backlash against KU using the border war in their get hyped for the game stuff. A lot of 'did KU really use the civil war' to hype themselves up? A lot of people seemed to think we just kind of made that up out of the blue, not at all having any clue of the kind of rivalry this is. Of course the idiotic Missouri coach mouthed off after the game and I really dislike the guy now for it. Lance really might need to adjust his coaching goals here to beating misery. When Lovie Smith was hired to coach the Bears he said "I'm here to beat the Packers". And he did, at least for a few years and then it went south for him. I want Lance to say the same. "I'm here to beat Missouri". Of course he's failed at that so far and he might be on his way to being too late to save his job. Saddens me to say because I had high hopes after his promising start here.

Was there anything in the game that has you believe that Marshall is a "serviceable" P4 starter? 13 of 30 (and one of those was a wing and a prayer). 2 INTs. 4 fumbles (only 1 TO). 20 rushes for 23 yards. Really undersized.
Some of the ineffectiveness is due to O-line woes, but definitely not all. Multiple really bad throw/decision-making. I really question whether either of our QBs is capable of winning games for us against quality competition...
-
@kjayhawks2.0 I'm through with football and I'll admit that I whine a lot during basketball season but a bad BB season for us is better than most teams best season. Ever.
-
Thinking positively at least we aren’t Texas. This is what year 21 of them supposedly being back. Down 20-3 with one of, if not the most expensive roster in CFB. I’m sure Steve is about done there.
-
Wow I spoke too soon on Texas entered the 4th quarter down 23-3 but put up 21 unanswered in the final quarter to win. Wow I hate both teams with a passion so at least one of them lost.
