  • How great would it be to actually see those 8 teams playing in the Elite 8? I like the cinderella stories but this would be fantastic

  • Wow, I checked out his projected bracket for us at this point, as we know he updates weekly, looks like a pretty loaded bracket if that WERE to turn out - - KU , Michigan State , Louisville , St Marys , Butler , Wichita
St , Duke that’s pretty good. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @Ralph

We could end up being the #1 seed for the entire tournament and NOT play in the Midwest bracket… I don’t care what anyone says. It is possible because that is the way it works.

  • @drgnslayr I think the one seeds get to choose the closest location.

  • @HawkChamp That didn’t seem to happen last year when Chicago was the logical choice for our team.

  • @wissox that’s what I’ve heard, so it would be KC this year if we get a one seed

  • Hopefully we improve as a team to earn that 1 seed in KC. But I’ll say this. This is a year where I actually don’t mind if it worked out that we get the first 2 seed and play the 4th 1 seed as long as we get KC. I think alot of years we play better in the tourney as a 2 honestly. And many times that 1st 2 seed does end up getting the benefit when it comes to sites. For example UCLA vs KU in 2007

  • We need to at least split with Baylor in the regular season and win the Big XII outright. Otherwise it could be both teams fighting to get KC in the Big XII tourney.

  • @Kcmatt7 Only way Baylor is fighting KU to be in KC is if someone like Kentucky, North Carolina, or Duke end up ahead of Baylor on the same seed line as Baylor and Baylor is a higher seed than KU.

If WVU is in the hunt for a 1 seed, their order is New York, Memphis, then KC and they would be fighting Villanova or Virginia for New York most likely if those teams ended up on the same seed line.

I wouldn’t worry too much about KU not ending up in Tulsa and KC for the tournament.

  • @jayballer54 I want to play WSU again and beat their tails.

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 please explain.

Because the way I see it is that Baylor would want KC #1 and then Memphis #2.

  • @Kcmatt7 Schools don’t choose their regions. They get assigned to the one closest to the school. That’s why KU was in Louisville instead of Chicago last year. Memphis is closer to Waco than KC is so Baylor would get put in Memphis before they would be put in KC.

  • @kjayhawks WSU has better post play than KU. Nurger 6’11 has improved, but still a role player. Willis? (juco player) is a smooth, yet tough scorer around the rim, with quick moves, and he’s 6’9 or 6’10. And 6’8 Shaq Morris, 250lbs–> just consider him a better scorer than Thomas Gipson of KSU a couple of yrs ago. Then they add 6’8 spindle-fiber NJ/Hurley-coached McDuffie who does it all, and they still have that 6’6-6’8 Brown kid who is like a Jamari Traylor type, endless hustle, and occasionally hits 3s.

Connor Frankamp hits if left open, and is a piece of their puzzle. The guards to watch out for are 6’3 Landry Shamet (Tyshawn-esque, but better 3gun), and 6’1 DeSean Smith, who plays like a Chalmers type of hops/dynamo. They have another 6’3 kid, Reaves, I believe that looks like Grayson Allen, and is a scorer, a frosh still.

WSU is balanced. They got embarrassed by OSU, but have been on a tear since, albeit thru the weak MVC.

  • @ralster This KU team would destroy WSU on Lawrence, Wichita, Tulsa, or KC. The KU team that lost to WSU a couple of years ago was a very offensively challenged team. This KU is not offensively challenged. I do believe this KU team is capable of outscoring anybody in the country.

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 yeah, WSU has not looked good against real competition. They got blown out by Michigan State, Louisville and Oklahoma State. A lot of teams can look good against sub rpi 200 schools like South Carolina State. Thinking you are good just by blowing out cupcakes is pure fool’s gold.

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 Agree. I might have buried my point about post play alone as my post turned into a generic scouting report on WSU. The only point was their post play is better and more versatile than KU’s Landon alone. Their guardplay is not superior nor equal to KU’s, by any means. CF being there almost cements that fact, eventhough he is only a bench guy.

  • In general, KU’s post play (other than Landon’s last 3 games) has been a real sore subject within our program this year.
