here you go/ - -Bragg/Lucas no starts

  • Welp here we go Udoka starting - - - - Neither Bragg or Lucas starting, let’s see if this doesn’t get them some motovation - - better play. Vick also starting - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Wow!

  • Or healthy!?

  • well it clearly didn’t improve their play but Doke played well!

  • Noteworthy action statement by our coach tonight, starting Udoka and Vick. Worked marvelously against a weak opponent, and appears to be a timely adjustment to the lineup. Whether injured or just not capable of adjusting to the revised rules in the paint, Lucas isn’t cutting it. Bragg is more of a puzzle. I recall a late spring or early summer comment by our brazen new behemoth, 7’, 295 and 16 years of age, proclaiming to amused Jayhawk followers that he, indeed, would become a starter on this current squad. Game #6, and Doke has arrived! At least for the moment. Perhaps for the duration if he is determined to clutch the brass ring and progress in the way of Joel Embiid. Bill Self has made a very timely and ballsy move tonight. Plenty of new drama and new hope in store for team and fandom, merrily awaiting the next stage in The Experiment.

  • @REHawk I sure like those 4 guards!

  • @Crimsonorblue22 So do I. Fun basketball!

  • @REHawk Doke and Vick to start again vs. Long Beach State. Self says about this lineup change, “It could be permanent, but I don’t suspect it will be.” He elaborated by saying that our starting lineup will likely be based on scouting reports (REALLY!). If an opponent plays small, we will go with Doke and Vick. If opponent plays two bigs, so will we. IMHO, whether injured or not, some heat is being taken off Lucas and Bragg…and/or, adversely, some fire is being lit beneath their tails. Coach often defers to doublespeak.

  • I don’t know how much was shown on TV, but Lucas is a hurting unit. Between plays he would grab his ankle/lower leg even during a few live ball situations.

My wife is of the opinion that he is a whiny crybaby, but I think he’s more injured than we know.

I noticed a couple issues on the broadcast, sounds like it was constant though. Thanks.

  • @dylans When I was watching him he reminded me of someone with lower back strain, which could explain lots of stuff. Just from the way he was running and sometimes pulling his head and shoulders back as he slowed down. Just speculation, obviously!

  • @mayjay His back may be sore, but im sure his ankle is. He would grimace every time he jumped and would rub his ankle/lower leg every chance he got. It doesn’t look good- he needs rest, but he needs playing time to figure out how he can legally establish position too.

  • Lucas has some kind of foot/ankle injury. He was wearing a boot while the team was in Hawaii.
