Update, JoJo

  • He’s one of the most anticipated Jayhawk pros to come along in a long time. I can’t wait to see what he does like a lot of us.

  • Embiid, trust the process, had 20 pts, 7 boards, 2 blocks in 17 minutes(?) high ceiling still! Fans are crazy about him!

  • @Crimsonorblue22 0 assists.

He had a pretty inefficient shooting percentage. as well.

With that being said, he looked awesome! He looked like the best player on the court when he was out there. He had great touch shooting the ball. He got great position on Adams several times. He just needs to learn how to finish against good 6’11 defenders. Expect his efficiency around the basket to go up as the season progresses. He just hasn’t had anyone to practice against that could actually stop him around the basket.

  • @Kcmatt7 wiggs had 25

  • good debuts from our future stars.

Embiid’s first bucket of his career, you can’t teach that. Then drilled a 3 after that. Limitless potential.

Wigs looked really good, can tell he’s put in work on his game. That 1-2 punch with Towns is exciting

  • When Embiid and Okafor get completely healthy, and if they learn to play together, O MY! 76er fans are in for more very exciting home games this season. Tickets should sell like hot cakes!

  • Speaking of big guys, did anyone see those historic numbers posted by Anthony Davis for the Pelicans last night? Gee whiz! But Buddy and support crew struggled.

  • @REHawk

Don’t forget Simmons in that mix. He’s extremely talented.

Regarding the Pelicans, the thing I noticed on that box score was a DNP next to Cheick’s name. I’m glad he made the team, and surprised!

  • @wissoxfan83 surprised he made team or that he DNP? He’s soooo green.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 Surprised he made the team. I don’t get it. I know all about potential and all that. Something’s weird when Cheick makes a team and Perry doesn’t.

  • @wissoxfan83 I know what you mean, Perry lacks size, and he just had hernia surgery. I watched some summer league and cheick shows tons of potential, he’ll get there. Perry was so laid back that in these kind of games he doesn’t show well.

  • @wissoxfan83 If Perry wants a shot in the NBA his best chance is to go show out in Europe for a bit. Go over there and show out for a couple of years and then test the water again.

Personally, I think the only way he makes the league is if he bulks up and puts on 25lbs of muscle. He is a 4. He just isnt’ quick enough to make that transition to the 3. But, look at guys like Thompson and Green in the NBA right now. You don’t have to be 7ft anymore to play the post. All you need to do is be able to hold your ground. If Perry can bulk up a bit and still keep his stroke, he could make a team in the league. That stretch 4 off the bench is a great weapon. Spurs have pretty much had one for the past 10 years between Matt Bonner and Boris Diaw and it’s obviously done them well. Ryan Anderson and Ryan Kelly are two other names that come to mind.

There is a place in the NBA for Perry, he just has to get his body right first.

  • I got both Wiggs and JoJo’s signatures on my Jayhawk basketball. Im keeping that thing, like, forever.

  • @REHawk yeah man, but Philly dont have any good guards. Im hoping the Man. makes some decisions and trades for some better than average guards. Oh! How about Mario Chalmers when he comes back!? Yah, he’s no CP3 or Curry or Westbrook but still, he’s better than anyone they have now.

  • @Kcmatt7 You’re right man. Perry is no NBA 3, needs to add size, strength and a mean streak wouldnt go amiss either. He could make a team given time.

Its funny cuz I remember his junior year saying things like " Perry soft" and all that. Guys got skills to play.

  • @Lulufulu I have that same ball, it already has value and is rising!

  • @Jayrawks1 Seriously!? Thats awesome! How much is it now?

  • I want to back track my previous statement about Philly’s guards. That guy from Spain…Rodriguez, he’s pretty good. Not an all star or even any star but he played very well against Westbrook, I dont think he even had a turn over. He is the oldest player on the team though, at 30.

  • @Lulufulu I was impressed w/him as well, never heard of him before.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 Im kinda psyched to see JoJo vs Howard tomoro. I never watch NBA this early. Well, very rarely do I do it. Im pretty sure I may have watched a few early games of Wiggins’

  • @Kcmatt7

I like your Perry advice. Go to Europe, make some good money and sock it away, while building his body and mature some more (physically). If he does this right, he will be ready for another shot at the league in a year or two.

  • @drgnslayr Ellis has signed with Greensboro D League

  • @Crimsonorblue22

Sergio Rodriguez has been around for about 10 years and has played into NBA before for 5 or 6 years. He is considered one of the better players in Europe. Some of his awards include:

    • ACB Rising Star Award (2005)
    • Spanish Supercup MVP (2013)
    • 3x All-ACB Team (2014–2016)
    • All-EuroLeague First Team (2014)
    • EuroLeague MVP (2014)
    • 2x All-Europe Player of the Year (2014, 2015)
    • EuroLeague champion (2015)
    • FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship MVP (2004)

    Not a bad resume.

  • @JayHawkFanToo so do you pay for the NBA games? Jk band day passes are 10 bucks, cheaper for sr’s

  • @Crimsonorblue22

I get most every NBA game through several cable Chanels and I also get the NBA Chanel .

  • @Lulufulu well you can only put so much merit into eBay, however I found one on eBay for over 700$! I did see on some other sports websites that other years were going for 300-400 and they obviously didn’t have wiggins and embiid. Who knows the exact price, but it has value, so that is fun.

  • @Jayrawks1 Yeah, it is fun to think that we have a piece of KU memorabilia thats worth so much $$ and stands an excellent chance at gaining on that as Wiggs and Biid reach All Star status

  • @Lulufulu The official 2007-08 ball brings $1,200-1,500 (there is one on ebay for $1400), 2013-14 $250-500, 2015-16 $200, 2001-02 $400, 1997 $800

Final four years bring around $400.

Championship year brings north of $1200

The '97 ball is rare and was the best team in the nation except one night…

    Other years bring $200-250.

The current years ball should be on sale soon/now for around $165 KUStore or for around $250-350 on ebay.

Take 50% off for non-official balls (the ones purchased thru KU with the year stamped into the ball are the official balls). Any autograph balls purchased blank and signed later take a 50-70% hit in price unless PSA or JSA, or equivalent has certified it as authentic. These are not the “official” autograph balls issued by the University in limited #'s once or twice per year.

    Happy collecting!!!

  • @dylans Hey thanks man. I was just looking around on ebay, just curious. My ball that I have doesnt have the dates stamped into it, just got the Adidas logo and the Jayhawk, with everyone on the 13-14 team signed.

I also have one from the year before 12-13, says limited edition stamped with a Jayhawk beneath it…Withey, Releford, Kev Young et all’s last year.

    THanks for the info!

  • The '13-14 team ball should increase in value if Embiid stays healthy. That guy is a stud! Wiggins should be an all star as well, so the NBA collector becomes interested in the ball driving the price up. Most of the value comes from the KU ties though!
