  I watched on YouTube the part when Sutton went down to congratulate them, was awesome! Roy said if he got a T for it, we would have shot them backwards or something crazy! I can see the good traits Self got from him, many!

  @jayballer73 It will be competitive as always. The 18 game Round Robin schedule with 10 teams makes it that way. I think the league overall lacks top end talent with experience. There’s a ton of youth new blood in the league due to 6 of the 10 bringing in 5 or more new guys so I think the well in advanced rankings/potential seeds is overblown at this stage. I think the league has 4 definite tournament caliber teams. 5 if Texas puts it together which if they can’t with the Coleman/Sims + others Shaka will get canned. Ok Lite could make it 6 if Cunningham transforms them for a year. I don’t see anyone else making it.

  @jayballer73 Well said! All we can do is wait to see him play again. We don’t know what his game is like now, but what we do know is he’s a glue guy and is totally on board for Self ball. What if he comes back and is shooting 38% from trey and very effective at mid range? We know he can guard the trey line. Self is bound to reward him for red shirting. I expect him to compete for as many non-guard minutes as anyone!

Maryland is Under Armour’s flagship school since that’s where their founder went to school the same way Oregon benefits from Nike because of Phil Knight being an alum. KU was not a finalist for Bowen, the competition was between Louisville, Michigan St. and Texas. Also, Brian Bowen was a much more sought after recruit than Gethro Muscadin is. Bowen was a consensus 5 star recruit while Muscadin is a 3/4* recruit depending on the service. While Louisville offered Muscadin, they were never a serious player for him. Also, KU would probably be better off in recruiting with Nike because there is a much bigger pool of AAU talent to spread around than there is at Adidas. KU would be a big fish in a big pond at Nike. KU could get just about any top Midwest and west coast recruit they wanted with Nike, while Kentucky, Duke, and UNC split the eastern half of the country. With Adidas, they are a big fish in a little pond that has to share a sometimes too small pond with other top Addias programs. I stand corrected by saying Maryland is an Adidas scool. I respect your opinion, but disagree that KU should have signed with someone else. Think that we were wise to stay with Adidas. I only said KU would be better off in recruiting because of the bigger recruiting pool has to offer, never said KU should’ve signed with Nike. KU Athletics is a for profit business and the goal of a a for profit business is to make as much money as possible. The Adidas deal pays KU a lot more per year than a Nike deal would based off of what Kentucky and North Carolina receive from Nike. KU currently has the 4th richest apparel deal in the NCAA behind UCLA, Louisville, and Texas.

With your best line up, which end of the floor are you talking about? Offense or defense because it isn’t the same line up depending on which end of the floor. If you want the best offensive line up, Ochai Agbaji is not on the floor for that because he’s still not good offensively yet. I said in a post above what I think the best offensive line up is and you’ll notice I have Braun and Thompson in that line up because you can stick one on the wing on the away from the screen, the other shooter in the corner screen side and Dave on the baseline on the block opposite the screen side and you have spacing and room to work for everyone. Just wondering why then he played 0 minutes when he was available to play the 4? We could’ve played him with Doke in 17-18 once Silvio was in the fold. I mean it’s easy to cherry pick his career highs and say that’s what he actually is as a player since we’ve already seen him for 3 years. I do think if he’s a stretch 4 his 2Pt% will go down since he won’t be in the post, which limits his efficiency. It’s definitely the best offensive lineup. Like you, I’m expecting a jump from someone: Ochai. He has the highest ceiling of anyone on the roster and just turned 20 two days ago. I actually expect Braun to make a nice jump, “I think Tristan Enaruna and Christian Braun, to me, would be the guys I could see would make the biggest leaps just because usually that freshman to sophomore year is a huge leap year,” Self says. “Also Ochai. I think Ochai will make another big leap as well.” So I’m not exactly pulling rabbits out of a hat here. I’m thinking Braun is similar in reality to the guy we saw in league play: 50% from 3 (on more attempts than Mitch has taken in his entire career), 90% from the line, PER of 16.5. His 2 point percentage should go up as well since he’ll add strength and become a better finisher. I like TGF a LOT too. I expect him to start slow but he’s a future pro. And that lineup is better offensively than our best defensive lineup is defensively, so you go with it. It’s our 5 best guys all on the floor at once, and they fit together. Bill himself says we’ll play small the majority of the time and I’m inclined to believe him, “If the roster returns as expected, I think we’ll have more depth on the perimeter than we’ve had in a long time,” Self says. “We’ll definitely be playing more people than this year.”

  I was way off the mark on Garrett, bigtime glad he’s coming back. It will be interesting to see where Garrett is drafted after his senior season. Since I just brought up the NBA draft, question - how many future leaguers do you think we have on next year’s team?

  @jayballer73 As much as becoming a better shooter is important for him I think the label " better player" fits what he needs to become. Defensively he is a stud. But his ball handling, passing and decision making can all take a leap. He is a great athlete and is a great team player. I hope he can step up even further this upcoming season to lead with Marcus
