  @Wigs2 they honored him at the Texas game, they were celebrating 60 years. They showed him and I think they said he was 90. Pretty sure he said happiest times were winning it all.

There is a lot of optimism expressed by Dad and the docs, but… “…Coach Bill Self said, “the rehab will be somewhat significant because he’ll be on crutches for eight weeks and probably not return to the basketball court for approximately five months.”…”–KUSports.com It sounds like a very big rehab job. That is about as subdued and conservative as I recall Self sounding in discussing a surgical rehab. Gulp. Go, Brannen, go!!! Nothing is written.

Coach Smart told me I have to play him smart because this guy is smarter than Smart. Rico (BU): He is not Thon, he speaks a very foreign sounding language. Coach Drew told me he is over rated and he only Drew fouls. They call him Shake (Cheick). McKay (ISU): Tell me about it, he Cheick (checks) me everywhere, I can’t Cheick (shake) him loose all day long. Coach Hoiberg told me that I have to “bypass” him. I don’t know what that means, maybe his operation got into him.

  @DoubleDD Seen a pair on Ebay. He wanted over $600.00 for a pair of size 10 1/2 For my 600: Step 1: Go to Sketchers. Step 2: Go straight to clearance rack. Find the dot color that offers up with the largest discount. Find shoes. Calculate price. Find 2nd pair. Find 3rd pair. Find 4th pair. Step 3 :First pair 70% discount ( Final price 35 ) 2nd pair - half off ( Final price 20). Repeat for pairs 3 and 4. Step 4 : Pay the man 110 for 4 pair of shoes. Take the other $490, and build a nice KU warddrobe to go with my snazzy new shoes. Or buy tickets to a game, or go get a Red Lobster Ultimate Feast about 14 times or so. I dunno, maybe I could skip buying shoes altogether, and lay that whole 600 that KU wins the national championship next spring, and have a shot at 12 big ones ( 20-1).

  A full 25% of NBA players are now foreigners, many of them coming up through American colleges. There is also a growing number of quality foreign players playing HS stateside so it is not unexpected for some of these players to end up at KU. Look at a lot of the California schools and you will see they are loaded with foreigners. Programs like Gonzaga, Saint Mary’s, Santa Clara to name a few, have depended on foreign players for a longtime.

  @jaybate-1.0 I love watching wigs play, he’s so graceful, deceptive, moves effortlessly. Someone wrote that they would love to see how long he could run, like an 800 or mile. He’s the product of an nba dad and an Olympian sprinter, he’s a perfect specimen. It amazes me that he started and played in every game, 19 years old! I’m anxious to see how he matures and gets physically stronger. Yes, I wish he stayed here forever too, but I’m glad he picked KU and Self for a year. He always speaks well of his time here, and speaks highly of Coach Self.

  @wrwlumpy Hypothetically speaking, in a metaphysical land, if after a MetaShoeCo 6-10 stacked a meta basketball program for 4 meta seasons and only came up with 1 meta ring from that meta program, while nine stacking another meta basketball program only one season and coming up with a ring, the Metashoeco might consult a statistician, or better yet, an odds maker, to find a better way to achieve full spectrum dominance in the Final Four. In this metaphysical land, it is quite likely that the meta odds maker named Benny the Numbers, would quickly advise hedging. Meta Rock Chalk!

  @Lulufulu Spot on… but might even the simple-minded recruit be wising up to Calipari’s delusions? In the very least… it seems many are starting to think, “why trade my valuable college PT minutes at a school only giving me half games and not even guaranteeing me a National Championship?” Even HS recruits will surely look at player stats from various schools to get an idea of what they might do there. Nothing really sticks out on the stat line of all those AAs at Kentucky this past year. Kentucky’s failure this year is about as stark as it gets. They can’t really say that future years will give them a much higher talent advantage from the rest of D1 (over the advantage they had this year, even with seasoned top tier talent)… so they can’t promise “perfection” moving forward. This past Kentucky team and fan base was basically promised “perfection.”

  I love love love IT!!! Calipari flat out doesn’t know what to do this late in the game! His team will be LUCKY if they make it past the first round of the NIT. Hope no one gets hurt because outside of the starting 5 the talent level drops significantly! He is going to go after Mack now too. I would put money on it that he has already contacted all 4 of the kids that have signed with Florida.

  My personal opinion on this: We have a nine man rotation. I know Self would prefer to have eight but there are just too many good players on this team. PG: Frank SG: Devonté 3G: Wayne PF: Perry PF: Diallo Key reserves: Greene Svee Traylor Lucas I am going to boldly predict that Bragg doesn’t Crack the rotation but has a breakout year as a soph. It happened with Aldrich who was as highly recruited as carlton.

  @JayHawkFanToo Superior players, yes. Stars, no. Stars are what separates the best teams. And stars on the magnitude of Durant and Westbrook (two of the best 7 players in the league) are hard to come by.
