  Student managers, hall monitors, student aides – lots of titles have been used at KU to keep track of athletes. The AD maybe informed but the HC knows practically every move a basketball player makes concerning classes, tutoring sessions, workouts, shot arounds, etc. It’s all in the best interests of the program and is IMO absolutely needed to accomplish high expectations.

  I remember listening to some talking head around the time immediately after we won it in 1988 say that KU was the first team since…(I forget, maybe ever) to win the NCAA while playing in their home state. Of course I always turned that argument around on people saying KU won because it was like a home game, and I said they didn’t even play in their home state, in fact it was in the state of their archival. How is that a home court advantage?

  Didn’t Paul Peirce say something about coming back to KU land? I think it was after the Legends of the Phog game. Where Mario handed Paul his only non winning game at the field house? The legends of the Phog By all means count me in on the Truth coming back to KU to ride the bench as an assistant coach.

  @dylans lol - agree on “whiny and annoying”. And recruiting. I guess I just figured if someone was a really good coach, I’d like to have him on our sidelines. But there are plenty of non whiny & annoying ones to go around!

  @Texas-Hawk-10 I hear what you are saying. Maker has muddied his own waters. But what we think doesn’t matter… it’s what Self thinks. I can think of some interesting ideas with Maker. Like how about a 1-3-1 defense? Maker in the middle and Chukwu down low.

  I don’t see any court related stuff happening from this. A loan filing made by Cliff’s mom became public, the NCAA notified KU, KU sat Cliff as advised by the NCAA, the NCAA investigated as best they could, they never got a hold of what they needed to because they don’t have the ability to subpoena. There’s nothing more the NCAA can do unless the actual loan documents become public and that’s not going to happen by legal means.

  I think scoring will up up slightly this year. Taking 5 seconds off the clock isn’t going to change the offense teams run, just make them start earlier. This change means teams would have an extra 10-12 possessions at most so we’re talking maybe 5-6 points for a really slow, grinding Big 10 style game and maybe 1-2 points for a normal game.
