  I’ve wondered on this thought for some time. It seemed to me KU wasted no time in resigning with adidas. I wasn’t sure why? I felt with the lay of the land and Nike schools cobbling up all the talent that at least a school like KU would consider switching. It seems it was never an option. KU seems to be getting some of the top talent from over seas. Which is quite confusing when these kids can just turn pro. I wouldn’t be surprised if Adidas has something do with KU getting the nod for the WUG’s. It seems with each passing year that KU is becoming an Adidas favorite horse. I’m not sure what it all means just noticed that KU and Adidas are becoming one in the same.

  @ralster This season in the fall, shorter shot clock, more possessions and more seasoned players to handle. Maybe Bill will see what he is doing right now and apply that same concept as you say, win by attrition. He has got the roster to do it. It wont be a platoon deal like UK was last season. But instead of a 7-8 man rotation, Coach can use 9- 10 easy. The possibilities are supremely exciting!

  @jaybate-1.0 Ohhhhhh man! I wish Karl Malone was still able to play. Id give my left you know where to see The Mailman beat up on Lebron. I think you are right, The King would be waving the white flag after one quarters worth of bruises he’d get from big man Malone. :rage1:

  @Statmachine It has been a real treat to watch Wayne play in WUG. I never thought he would be given a chance at the 3… but it is obviously working for him. Maybe he feels more comfortable not having to be one of our two ball handlers from up top. I’m curious what Self has told him this summer? There must have been a discussion or two about his role for this coming year. Perhaps what is expected from him. Whatever happened… I just hope he keeps it up! The real test will be Big 12 play, where he will face tough competition that already has played against him in past years.

  I know we won’t really understand what our new freshmen will offer us this year… but so far… I really like Vick and Bragg! Bragg will also improve dramatically when he can lose the mask. Both of these guys have very good energy and seem to already be buying in to Self ball… YOU HAVE TO BRING DEFENSE IF YOU WANT TO STAY ON THE FLOOR! (especially freshmen) We are running a few pick and rolls and pick and pops. But mostly… it is the preferred offense of EVERY WUG team! I finally feel like we are catching on to defending it. In that Turkey game, it seems like we were getting beat more by it compared to the Brazil game… and Brazil had a very good post player to score off the picks. We are starting to realize how well teams drive the ball and then quick pass for an open 3. Gosh… imagine if we could master this in our own offense and throw the ball out to one of our wide open spot-up shooters like BG? Actually… what works the best is the second pass off the drive. The driver kicks it out to a semi open shooter who draws a defender to make up the gap by running totally out from the basket and then the pass is made to another shooter on the 3 line for the wide open spot up.

  @HighEliteMajor For whatever reason, Jamari gets his minutes over Landen and Hunter… My only explanation is his energy level is higher. On occasion he makes a few big plays and they help spark the team. I don’t want to get all over Jamari, but it appears he will get a great deal of minutes this year and we really need better play out of him. I think I keep hoping that at some point it is just going to “click” and he gets it. “He seems to overrun rebounds sometimes…” I made a huge post about this last year, even to the point of challenging one of Jesse’s posts. I showed clips of Jamari overrunning the goal and was standing either directly under the goal or even more towards the baseline when the rebound came off. Not sure why he would think the ball would end up in “no-man’s land”… To be honest, it is very embarrassing when he does this. I plan to post a lot this year on coaching up Jamari. He will be getting lots of PT and he is a resource we are not maximizing off the gifts he has… which is energy, strength, athleticism and post quickness. He may not be a big scorer… but if you consider what assets he does bring to the game, we should be very satisfied with his production. He should be a Kevin Young player on steroids! I want to see that kind of Jamari Traylor!

  @HighEliteMajor re: “take Perry out of the middle”. He was pretty ineffective today and don’t know if it’s because of length of inside players on Brazil, obviously, he did well against the large Turkey players, but wonder if we won’t be hurting this year even with him when we go up against L&A teams. In my mind, Mickelson needs to get more PT with the energy he brings. That might bring down some of the careless plays he makes from time to time, but he does lots of little things that help keep the ball alive. Obviously, if one of the young ones come on strong, then it’s a different story.

  @JayHawkFanToo If anyone is using Tivo and you have it on your lan then you can move it to your computer using Tivo desktop and then convert from Tivo format to one that can be uploaded. The file is huge if you are using HD.

  @tundrahok Agreed. Only die hard basketball fans even know about this event, so there really is not a lot of pressure. The main benefit is the opportunity to get some actual game practice and get a jump on the competition; the 24 second shot clock will help get the team prepared for the upcomimg season. If KU were to win, I am sure the AD will milk it for a while but otherwise no big deal.

  @jaybate-1.0 My thoughts exactly on the twins, albeit a bit more eloquent than I would have been able to. I too tend not to believe most things out of the entertainment media. Sure, there probly is some truth to it, it is most certainly not the whole truth. “We cant handle the truth!” Ok I’ll stop now.

  Seriously, the bigger deal here that the busted schnozola is the neck on Carlton. Carlton was a pencil necked geek last basketball season based on the feeds showing him doing great things with the ball. Look a the Hudy-neck on the that big fellah now!!! They may have broken his sniffer, but that neck can bow up and it suggests he soon will be able to deliver a world of hurt. Go, Carlton, go!!!
