  @Lulufulu Wooden got 7 of them, The streak was achieved while in 3 different conferences and under 3 different coaches. Offcially, Coahc Self already has the record as a coach with 12 and Mark Few is second with 11. Here is a breakdown on the UCLA run… Conference(s): Athletic Association of Western Universities, Pac-8, Pac-10 Years: 1967-79 Record: 360-30 (171-15 in conference) Coaches: John Wooden, Gene Bartow, Gary Cunningham AP first-team All-Americans: Kareem Abdul-Jabaar (1967, 1968, 1969), Sidney Wicks, Jamaal Wilkes, Bill Walton (1972, 1973, 1974), Dave Meyers, Marques Johnson and Dave Greenwood (1978, 1979). UCLA’s talent during that run was head and shoulders above everybody else. Coach Self had to replace entire starting lineups and beat powerful teams that include the likes of LaMarcus Aldridge, D.J.Augustine, Damion James, Kevin Durant, Tristan Thompson, PJ Tucker, Buddy Hield, Blake Griffin. Michael Beasley, Bill Walker just to name a few…

  If Josh were to stay in college 4 years, we would be talking about him on the same level with Danny Manning, Kevin Durant, Paul Pierce, etc. Except he would be better as a collegiate than any of them. He hates to lose. Period. My favorite quality in a college athlete. If Josh stayed, his numbers would improve every year (GASP!), he would learn to shoot free throws and probably lead us to the championship game for 2 of the next 3 years. As a pro - he probably won’t be a household name. Why? He will learn NOT to hate to lose. He’ll do his job, collect his paycheck and enjoy the fruits of his labor. Winning every game in the NBA is not a dream of any NBA player. Show me the money.

  @BShark Yupp, that was classic. I like Ryan’s willingness to tell it straight but as an elevator of talent I think he focuses too much on thinking kids need to be day 1 studs to compete. You get to KU and never know the rate of development a kid will take. Smith is an example of a kid who has physical talent to play and shooting ability. Positions mean nothing in College Ball now. He can definitely be a wing, can handle the ball. Huntington Prep is chalk full of athletes and Smith has played really well

  Personally i don’t have a problem with weed, it has many therapeutic uses. That being said it’s illegal. It’s a dumb move to get caught with it when it’s so very easy not to. Keep your stash/smoking devices out of plain view. Simple as that. Keep your dorm room clean and smelling good and those cops would have been none the wiser. If you leave your skull pipe out and it clearly has residue in it you’re going to get busted. I’m pretty sure most of those guys smoke weed which is fine, just be smart. Don’t smoke in public and don’t leave your stuff out and you’re probably going to be fine. I could argue this point all day. I know people will disagree but weed isn’t really a big deal at all. It’s far less harmful than cigarettes or alcohol and we all know college students engage in underage drinking.

  Actually, the best case scenario for tonight might be that we have LL get in foul trouble and we substitute players and shift defense around to accommodate the situation. It’s good practice and experience for us moving forward because we will always battle with post depth the rest of this year. I want to see Dwight and Mitch rack up some minutes. They need to face tall, quality bigs. If we can do all of that and still nail the “W” that sounds PERFECT to me!

  I’m pretty sure they’re all told to get back so as not to foul and prevent a home run pass. I’d like to see one guy stay up and force the man to pick up the ball, not play actual D and risk a foul call, just make him touch the ball. As for selling calls, if you flop and no call is made your man is unguarded. I think this is Landen’s fear (possibly coaching as you see very few KU flops).

  @Kcmatt7 They were both shooting very poorly, perhaps this is the reason they took less shots than they usually do. Long was 0-5 from 3 and Allen was 2-7 from the floor…and missed the shot that could have sent the game to OT. Sometimes players are in the zone and can’t miss and sometimes they cannot hit the broad side of a barn…Allen and Long had poor games at the wrong time.

  I liked the action off of the faked lob to a streaking player leading a real lob pass to the cutting screener. Looks like a play KU could run well since everyone expects a lob at some point. Brilliant play.

  @AsadZ ah, c’mon AsadZ, you can’t blame them. I’m sure they were just trying to beat the traffic of 24,000 leaving the arena. Especially since 1/2 of them likely don’t have a legal driving license and are juiced on moonshine, it probably gets a little sketchy around there.

  @ralster Facebook streamed the press conference live. Coach Self was having a hard time trying to explain how important Lucas is to the team; he had to backtrack some since at first his words did no come out as he intended them to.
