  @dylans I see us as a Sweet 16 caliber team at this point, that can change if Billy is able to and Newman finds his groove. But I just don’t see this team being in the NC conversation anytime soon. Maybe it’s better that way and we won’t play tight in NCAA. If we make 3s at a high rate which we’ve done at times this year, we could beat anyone on any given night. @ParisHawk I agree, I think that having a bunch of evenly matched teams can be better for us when we haven’t looked near as dominant as some of our past teams.

  @BShark Wink, wink, worry hell! We got 6’8" 133 lb. Mitch Lightfoot and a bruiser named Sosinski. With the acquisition of practice player S. DeSousa we have merely doubled the Eligibility Waiting Time. Steamin’ along towards The 12th of Never.

  @dylans I would not go that far. Both coaches made adjustments at half time and both defenses stepped up and the game slowed down. Nothing new for KU which has consistently scored more in the first half.

Our guys will begin to be effective in that length of time. Mid February. De Sousa is probably not as highly ranked as many of the players you mention. Preston is highly ranked, but historically the only highly ranked bigs KU signs have admissions and developmental baggage that other elite schools do not experience. Self would not be signing baggage carousel specials, if he could get the other type, right? Great players can step KU never gets the Your right its early still. De Sousa was once a top 5 player in his class. He didn’t play a ton of AAU ball which usually helps one maintain such lofty reputation. It’s not an ideal situation joining midway without any acclimation period like transfers get. Last year Austin Whiley- a Top 20 2018 kid joined Auburn’s squad mid-year and did pretty well. Wasn’t dominate but he definitely helped them. It’s about as close of a comparison as there is. Obviously Auburn isn’t KU and De Sousa’s role will likely be determined on how much Self can trust him. I don’t know if its bad luck or recruiting the wrong players. It’s a awful trend though that needs to stop

  Maybe he was suppose to be things might of just got changed - personally that is a huge relief to me . - -For me personally I wish actually Jay Williams would do some courtside games -I and it’s just me but I like Jay pretty much. I’ve noticed that Jay Bilas hasn’t really done any or if any not very many games - he has gotten a little wrapped recently too - used to like him more - but for me - Jay is probably at right at the top. - Oh Bill just mentioned the infamous league of Champions. whew, -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  I loved the way Greene shot free throws. Zero hesitation. He couldn’t hardly wait for the ref to give him the ball and a free point.

  Great posts again. One person you missed was Roger Sayers. He was Gale’s brother. I saw him at the 1963 NAIA track championship in Sioux Falls. He was extremely fast.

  @Big-Clyde52 I agree. Any loss at AFH is a bad loss regardless of who KU plays. ASU is legit but, much like KU, its Achilles heel is that they play a 7 man rotation which can be an issue when whistle happy refs are calling the game or towards the end of the season and post season when it is going to have tired players.

  Appears to me that this is a game where Garrett and Cunliffe each draw 20 minutes of playing time. Rest Newman. Give the 3 walk-ons a few minutes of exposure. In retrospect, Newman is to be praised for his 30 minutes of effort at Lincoln; but the coaching staff walked a shaky line in the decision to play him, esp. so many minutes. Cunliffe has been in the program right at a year. Why transfer in a kid who possesses a semester of quite decent playing experience, then glue him to the bench? It’s not like he just walked in from the football locker room. I am well aware that the counter argument is that the program could not afford to lose 3 in a row. Obviously, that dictated the decision about playing time. Head injuries are not to be screwed with, in my not so humble opinion. Our starters have been hampered by recruiting decisions. Talk about SOFT! Bringing in 3 scholarship transfers who are ineligible this season…and a lamebrain power forward who couldn’t live within the rules. Our starters are being pounded with too many minutes.

ASU is a MUCH better team this year. They infused a lot more talent into their program.
