  @Bosthawk Ask yourself: “Is this really what we have to do to win?” These OADs are the “fools gold” we’ve all been talking about for a few years now. It’s the “let’s take the lazy approach” to college basketball. After all, it is hard to find good players who will work their butts off through college. And I mean WORK! I mean maximizing their time to make it all about basketball and academics. We get a team of these guys and we beef up our developmental coaching, we are going to win a lot of games. More than we win now. I don’t know how much more of this OAD drama I can handle. The quality of D1 has dropped so far it is unrecognizable. But until we change to a true developmental program, I’ll cheer on the big talent. It’s about all we have now. I don’t want us to become another Duke. Duke was the laughing stock of college basketball last year… losing with all that NBA talent. Coach K looked like a washed up coach. He could hardly have wished for a better scenario than he had. I miss real basketball!

I’m not sure where you get them online (used to be kustore.com; it’s changed), but you could pick them up at the allen field house gift shop. You can, and the proceeds actually end up going to charity. Minus a small 10% markup on the cost of the ball.

  I like all of these changes being proposed and hope all 5 pass. Moving the 3 point back to the FIBA distance will help the college game should reduce the number of 3 pointers attempted next season.

Perhaps HCBS is just a beer guy after all as per @Marco… Perhaps its just a matter of everyone being focused on and getting ducks in a row for good news from SDS, Tucker, Hampton et al…

  @HighEliteMajor I think that it is a very debatable question. I would stay with Self if we had the option for Beard to come in tomorrow. That being said I would hope if Self leaves in the near future, that Beard is Longs first phone call, at least at this moment. The question is can Beard keep Tech at the top? He has flipped the script in Lubbock, in 3 short years and deserves a ton of credit for doing so. Self is the better option because he has kept us at the top tier of CBB, maybe even moved us up a notch by winning the NC in 2008. This past season was a let down, all we did was win 26 games, finish 3rd in the conference and make the second round of the NCAAs. There’s only about 5 maybe 6 schools that wouldn’t be okay with those results and Beard has never been at said schools. Self has probably seen and dealt with more as a head coach than Beard will for a few years. When you start winning you have to deal with more boosters, fans, and when you start recruiting and getting better players you have to deal with egos and parents as well.

  @approxinfinity The ball movement in ‘08 was phenomenal. It was a combination of ball movement and lockdown D that we haven’t seen since. I’m not sure if any of the stats correlate to ball movement, but to me that was the biggest difference.
