  I need to see Doke healthy before I can say where he falls. Not sure Preston is OAD, but if he plays to his ability he is gone. I see him kind of like Ivan Rabb from Cal - OAD potential, but probably plays two years. Newman is almost certainly gone unless he plays poorly or gets hurt (knock on wood). Vick is really the wildcard. I think he could leave if he has a big year, but him leaving assumes a pretty big leap (becoming a 14-15 ppg scorer, or being a very well rounded player while averaging 12ish ppg).

  @mayjay I thought about making the comparison to Diallo but what’s the point, the NCAA doesn’t do anything consistent with these cases of benefits. It’s good for Texas that his situation is not in limbo headed towards the season like Diallo’s which-hunt was. For that I give the NCAA credit for not putting this kids immediate future on eggshells

  @HighEliteMajor Look at the roster of the Warriors, arguably the best NBA team in the last 10 years and it lists 2 centers (McGee and Pachulia) that average a combined 23.4 mpg which is less than half the time for the position. The 2 listed PFs (Green and West) average just over 48 mpg. No question that the NBA is moving away from the center and using PFs instead. Naturally, HS and college players are moving away from the position and calling themselves PFs and the net result is a shortage of the so called centers…less players available translates to a smaller chance of getting one but with the smaller lineups the lesser need for centers. As far as PG, I don’t seem to recall Coach Self having a freshman as the starting PG, so naturally, top PG prospects with OAD aspiration will gravitate towards program where freshmen start, like Kentucky. So it is not really a big surprise that OAD PGs would go somewhere else. So much for the embargo.

  Unless one of the two really outshines the other, I think it might depend on our opponent as to whom Self throws into the starting lineup. Just another possible change up to keep opposing coaches from structuring defenses. But heck, even as a coveted 6th man, either is bound to play lots and make major impact. Vick might frequently shift to the 2 position more fluidly than Svi, so at times they both might be on the floor effectively.

  @KUSTEVE Just got email from my son. Mitchell’s bro Miles has committed to West Point & posted that on his twitter feed. Tremendous honor to get a scholarship at a military academy. Exceptional family IMO. Matt ran track at Baker & Rhonda had a volleyball offer at KU but went to RockHurst instead. Here’s a link to a story when Mitchell first signed.   @kjayhawks KU makes considerably more money playing at the Sprint Center in KC than at the Intrust in Wichita, easier logistics and the KU fan base is much larger as well.
