Arterio Morris got a federal court injunction against KU’s dismissal from the team like Terrence Shannon did at Illinois? I have to admit I was really disappointed that Shannon played out the season for Illinois despite a Douglas County Kansas pending felony case, while Morris languished from juco team to juco team due to a Douglas County felony case that just got dismissed. Shannon’s charges remain pending. It doesn’t help to speculate about the charges and the reasons why cases get dismissed. I’m really wondering how much Morris would have helped this year’s team. We didn’t see him on court enough to tell how he would have fit in with the rest of the guys, but I remember wishing for another scorer throughout the year just before Johnny got going for several games. And, another scorer would have helped replace Kevin’s points when he got hurt. Maybe, Morris was dismissed for reasons other than the pending charges, but I sure wonder if Morris hired a lawyer and got an injuncton if that would have been a positive for KU, expecially with the dismissal of the charges against him.

RE: UFL Football
Thanks for mentioning the former KU players in the UFL. The different rules make the games interesting. The kickoff is weird and almost always results in a nice return. So, the offense starts in much better field position than the NFL. No extra point kicks is interesting. The ability to score 1,2 or 3 points on the extra point will add a strategic element in some games. There is a strange rule about scoring toward the end of the game and getting the ball back that I’ll need to look into. Hey, its football in April; I’m watching some of it.

@stoptheflop there is a game thread bud
I still don’t see the Samford game thread. It doesn’t matter; I was just looking for the thread to post about Timberlake’s missed dunk.

RE: Samford predictions?
Wow, no Samford game thread? Timberlake came through, but damn that missed dunk and the phantom foul call sure taint KU’s win. Great outlet pass by Hunter to find Timberlake. I didn’t think KU had enough inbounds plays given KU knew that Samford was going to press on all inbounds plays. Every inbounds play was an adventure for sure. March Madness baby. Now, KU needs to have a great game plan and great execution to beat the Zags.

RE: Other bball games
I didn’t see BYU run any of the screens they used at AFH where they would get one 3 point shooter open to draw the defense, then a second shooter took the open shot. It always seems like Big 12 coaches and teams play much harder and game plan better against KU than in the tournament.

RE: Other bball games
The ability to put the ball throught the hoop is a fickle thing: Houston is shooting 28% and only 2/11, 18% from 3. Strange how an entire team shoots poorly for a half. But , only 7 pts down at the half, so things may change.

Ugh, -2.5 to Cin. I can’t remember a more unfortunate season.

RE: Thoughts On 2024 Schedule
@Texas-Hawk-10 Living in Kansas, I just can’t get over the KState loss, for which I somewhat unfairly blame Cole. Really, I have a lingering anger/frustration due to Jason Bean getting hurt on the QB option the previous game(TX Tech) and KU not being able to play an experienced QB against KState. I don’t have any confidence that Jalon’s back issues will be 100% resolved this year and hope we have better QBs to back him up as opposed to a walk-on freshman. Not having Jalon or Jason for all of the Texas Tech and KState games still stings. It seems likely we will need three QBs again this year.

RE: Thoughts On 2024 Schedule
Does anyone know if Jalon is practicing this spring? I’m still wondering who the hell will take over the critical backup QB role this year? I read that players may be taken from the portal from April 15-April 30. Will KU look for a backup QB? Only yes or hell yes answers please. KU has the best group of receivers I’ve ever seen at KU, so I sure hope we have a good QB on the field all season.

@kjayhawks Whatever motivates the team to play better

Take care of business. For real. It’s AFH

RE: BYU Thread
I like the “weave” or movement BYU uses to get one after another 3 pt shooter open.

RE: BYU Thread
Bench has 7 of KU’s 23 pts. Improvement or just more minutes?
-
RE: BYU Thread
BYU has 5 players who’ve launched more than 100 3s; KU has one, McCullar.

Good way to end court storming: Forfeit next game.
Probably can’t forfeit the game, but maybe forfeit the next win? Tickets for the game are sold and TV contracts are signed, so the next game must be played. And forfeiting the game/win punishes the team, who didn’t do anything wrong; all they did was win a big game. Fan behavior, like public behavior in general must improve. So, I guess the solution is to arrest the fans for tresspassing, or at least as many as may be detained. A couple of videos showing trespassing fans in cuffs likely changes most of the bad behavior.

RE: Thoughts On 2024 Schedule
Has anyone seen the spring practice schedule? Spring break is Mar 11-17. I thought KU football practiced the week before spring break, then finished the allowable practice days after spring break. 247 Sports says KU spring practice starts Mar 19 and doesn’t show a date for the spring game.

RE: SEND TEXAS TO SEC WITH A BIG AFH LOSS
Johnny needs to find his shot more often. I like Juan’s line: 6pts, 3/5, 4 assists, no TOs.

Now that it’s halftime, fashion comment: Both head coaches have their quarter zips zipped all the way up. I wear mine about half mast. Anyone have a preference?

SEND TEXAS TO SEC WITH A BIG AFH LOSS
The radio network reports that Keven isn’t warming up with the team. KU really needs this home court W.

RE: Other bball games
So does a Houston loss or Baylor loss benefit KU the most? Or, does it even matter since there’s no difference between second and last in the league.

RE: Thoughts On 2024 Schedule
With spring football starting in a couple of weeks, I’m going to be very interested to hear if Jalon Daniels is practicing. Cole Ballard was serviceable at QB last year but our hopes for an even better season this year rely on Daniels being healthy and playing all year. The KSt game played without Daniels and my hero, Jason Bean sticks with me and for me taints last year’s successes. Still, Coach Leipold has our program at a higher level than I thought possible, so I hope Jalon has fully recovered from his injuries and plays at full strength this year.

RE: The Boys Are Back vs OU
Am I the only one routinely disappointed with KU’s FT shooting? Year after year. KU was 9/18 yesterday; OU hit 17/23, 74%. Come on now, a top ten team must make FTs, especially on the road where Big 12 refs always make sure the home team shoots 5-10 more FTs.

Well was told earlier, that Johhny was the worst of KU players on this dm thing plus/minus whatever the hell you wanna call it.–Well he ends up 15 points----- 9 rebounds, I’ll take that any day
And Johnny scored early in the game when no one else was scoring.

I see that Andrea Hudy is now with UConn. I sure hope Johnny stays for another year and takes advantage of our strength program.

@kjayhawks You do realize that Kevin’s recent shooting woes have coincided with his knee injury right?
I was disappointed with KJ in the second half, then I read he’s been sick all week. A week’s rest will really help.
