RE: FRANK WINS THE OSCAR ROBINSON TROPHY!
I find some solace knowing that Frank is still going out on top this year.
He is what I have always admired about college basketball.
The four year window of time where we witness the maturation process on so many levels.
Players like Frank, Sherron, Perry, Landen, Darnell, Withey, & Kahn are why I love this program so much. There are many others I could list, but ya’ll know them already.

RE: Relive the great game
My kids and I watched the 2012 Mizzou game Saturday. It was fun watching my six year old, who wasn’t aware I was watching a re-run cheered on the game. When down 13-14, I asked him who he thought would win, and he said the “Jayhawks, of Course”.

RE: Who's playing like a Big XII champ now?
Be optimistic because this program, the one you cheer for, has won THIRTEEN STRAIGHT Big 12 Championships. Be at peace with whatever happens knowing Bill Self and Most of the players are doing their damndest to make the KU Legion of Fans and Alumni proud. When I sense my expectations for young athletes getting out of control I ask myself: How would I feel if this was my child? I’d be disappointed that it doesn’t always go our way, but I’d be proud anyway.

RE: Has ANY Other Big 12 Coach than Self Managed Roster Uncertainties and Apparent Chemistry Problems As Skillfully and Effectively as Self Apparently Has this Season?
The 2018 ego massaging-weakness masking-scheme changing-philosophical shifting-self imposed penalizing-DeSousa finding-ceiling maximizing, frankly surprising Selfian Masterpiece.
He has done it again.

RE: Cliff
It’s funny how we categorize professionals, especially Attorneys & Agents. Here’s a fact: I work with incredible attorneys on a regular basis. I work with shady attorneys on a regular basis. It’s the people, not the profession.
I’ve observed the last few days as agents are referred to as sleeze balls. Sure some of them are. And I personally know a lot of them are good ones, too. It’s the people, not the profession.
There are incredibly talented scientists and researchers. Some of them do legitimate, bonafide research. Some of them cook their data to gain the support they need. It’s the people, not the profession.
Some basketball coaches cheat, and some don’t.
Some referees cheat, and some don’t.
You will always have the Mark McGuires, Sammy Sosa’s, Lance Armstrongs, Jose Conseco’s, Sleezeball Attorneys and Sleezeball agents. It’s the people, not the profession.
For those who cannot obtain their competitive advantage through ability, work ethic, commitment to continuous improvement, and luck (luck=preparation meeting opportunity) their competitive advantage is relegated to underhanded dealings.
Its the people, not the profession. When you classify an entire group of people because of their profession, you sound uninformed.

RE: Pot and Its Impact on BB IQ?
Or maybe it’s the alcohol that we legally sell on every street corner in America that’s lowering the IQ. I swear one time I saw Naadir so drunk he posted a picture of himself drunk on Twitter and got kicked out of the best program in D1.

Unreal, unreal, unreal. The Towson Gaurd that fell into our lap ends up being of the best all time in this wonderful history we have.

RE: Big night for Frank Mason 111-BIFM
How did all of the recruiting experts miss this kid.
Find of a lifetime for Townsend.
None of us will Forget Frank Mason III
Right now, some young Jayhawk Fan is shooting alone on a court saying 3,2,1…Frank Mason for Thhhrrrreeeeeeeeeeeee

RE: “To basically play six guys and pull it off when we were totally gassed, I'm really proud of my team.”
Seemed like every outro to commercial break was a Kentucky marketing piece, also. Felt like I was watching the Big Blue Nation Network.

RE: What's wrong with Coach Self?
Looked eerily similar to the Oregon game, didn’t it? Team faces a defense that they cannot figure out on the court and cant figure out their shot or where to get them. 4 on 3 on the perimeter leaving their big to guard the lane and daring the Hawks to beat them playing 2 on 1 with Doke and Vick vs their big. Zebras came in with an assist the first half by taking out our bigs and really putting the hurt on any chance to score inside. (This game was not on the refs, do not get me wrong) Mitch and Doke seem to have no offensive move outside of the dunk. Doke was sucking air after two trips down the court last night. The team already has no legs and its December. UW was Longer and Athletic at three key positions and played bigger at the remaining 2 all night. Kansas was a step behind, out hustled, and there was nothing that could be done to overcome their length on the perimeter and Kansas’ inability to grab a board when it counted. About all Self did was watch it happen all night.

RE: Breaking News: Bruce Weber Loves KU, Gifts Win
I don’t take the high road on officiating, which seems to be the heroic thing to do. Refs control and affect games all of the time. Nobody wants to put blame on refs cause you sound like a whiner. But it happens. Josh Jackson’s first 2 whistles last year against oregon were a joke and it changed the entire complexity of the game. Graham’s whistles in the Villanova game changed the the game. The forward progress call against the chiefs changed and affected the game. Players miss shots in game Coaches make mistakes in game. And refs blow calls. All three affect the outcome.

RE: NOW WE KNOW WHY THEY CALL HIM SNACKS?
A considerable percentage of successful people use the substance… Drs, Lawyers, Teachers, Scientists, Presidents. I’ve seen countless vets find their best treatment for Post traumatic stress disorder through cannabis. I’ve witnessed children with severe seizures find their only hope in the plant that was a gift of nature. I’ve watched tumors shrink when the only medicine taken was oil with high CBD content. Its illegality has more to do with Politics and less to do with its side effects.
Now that being said; when a person is entrusted with responsibility to uphold as Jerrance was and fails to do so, there needs to be consequences. I simply have a bigger issue with the fact that he was not trustworthy enough to man up and give Self notice. Mistakes are what make us stronger in life, but trust & loyalty are incredibly hard to earn back once lost.

RE: NOW WE KNOW WHY THEY CALL HIM SNACKS?
@HawksWin I appreciate your comments, and I respect what you are saying.
I agree that sometimes we have to find ourselves in another environment, and can become better people because of our shortcomings.
I am no William James, but I am trained in Research Methods and Psychology to some extent, and it is always my goal to evaluate facts without bias. I don’t care what the truth is, I simply want to know it. The point of my post is to make sure we look at things from as many sides as we can, and to remember “let he without sin cast the first stone.”
And as child, my family was so poor the only meals I ate were at school, and** I did have to steal** day old food from a trash can behind the grocery store during the summer time. Should I have starved or should I steal? It doesn’t sound like you’ve really ever come face to face with true hunger if you cannot justify stealing for it. That was my only option. I was arrested at 9, 14, 16, 17, 18, and 19. Giving up on me would have been easy, but I’m glad they didn’t. I was given second chances countless times, and 12 years later I’m sitting here with two college degrees, an expunged criminal record and I am a pillar of hope for the young children & adults that I interact with daily.
Things are rarely as they seem. I will not judge Snacks, but I do not envy the business decision that Self must make.

RE: Kubler-Ross model, stages of grief
Self has earned at least a couple down years, has he not? Doesn’t he have the highest winning percentage ever at Kansas? He just came off a five year streak of 30 plus wins. Last I checked we passed UNC as the second winningest program under his tenure and Kansas has close to or more Tourney wins in the last 10 years than most schools. Buying into the concept that it is national championship or bust is the only thing that really Pisses me off on this forum.

RE: REFEREES APPARENTLY SELECT DUKE NATIONAL CHAMPION
I don’t watch any television shows or sitcoms. I take my beautiful wife to a movie once a month for a date, and that’s about all the screen time I can handle. I just read. And I watch college basketball from November until April. I quit watching WWF when I learned it was scripted at six years old. Now, I’m faced with the same decision with College BBall. It’s a sad day for me. At least I can read more.

RE: HIDE YO KIDZ! KU DUKE LIVE CHAT

RE: You just don't get it.
Just because America is a wonderful country does not mean we don’t have significant flaws that need to be addressed and corrected. And that’s the same for this team.
Winning masks everything, until it doesn’t.
Confucius say team that gives up 80 points with regularity, no go deep in tourney.
Also–we are never going to hear the end of “Walk Chalk, Jayhawk” What a terrible way to end that game. I do not know how the ref can miss a guy taking FOUR steps and be right next to him when he does it.

RE: this is new/Bragg
@HighEliteMajor Definitely good news, and I agree with your intuition. On the ESPN article they stated that Bragg was not one of the 5 witnesses named in the rape case. I may not have read everything that came out on that, but I don’t remember having been given that solid of a statement on that before. He was named a witness in the runaway situation
@Crimsonorblue22 I have to believe part of Self’s testiness this past week and as-close-to-being-deceitful as I can recall is he’s as sharp as they come and knew the media would do everything–and still will do everything to tie them to this rape case as long as they can. Even when it is resolved, they probably still reference Jayhawk Basketball players as being “witnesses.”

RE: Post Game Impressions of KU's Win at the Octogon of Silage
VIck also wears the body guard similar to Graham. When I saw that up close, I thought, man-this is supposed to a non-contact support. The TV doesn’t give justice to how much elbowing and checking goes on.

RE: Calipari Runs Away From A Kansas Extended Series

Espn is neat.
Kansas wins 13 straight and they Segway with no mention of it. And then proceed to slobber over a last second shot by Cuse over Duke for an hour.

Ken Pom
Of the Elite 8 teams, five were in Ken Poms top 10 the day prior to the tourney Starting.
Oregon was 16th, South Carolina 30th and Xavier 40th.
Of the Final Four you have Gonzaga who was ranked # 1, North Carolina who was ranked # 3.
South Carolina has the #3 adjusted defense and 150th Adjusted Offense.
Oregon has 24th Adjusted D and 19th Adjusted Offense.
Kansas was in the top 10 overall for Ken Pom, but had the adjusted defense of 28.
I have a bracket in the KUBUCKETS challenge that was selected strictly based on the Ken Pom rankings, and when there were two teams within a few lines of each other, I have the nod to the team with the best defensive efficiency.
That bracket is not doing very well. None of my brackets are.
My 10 year old has 1 team in the FF.
My wife, who watches very little basketball has 2 of the 4. She probably guessed based off team colors or something weird like that.
I am going to track this moving forward to see how accurately Ken Pom can predict the Elite Eight and FF.

RE: Selden V. Jackson
@wissox But in response to your post, the team was better with JJ than Selden.
Selden had too many disappearing acts. JJ Played incredibly consistently after he got his teeth into it.

RE: Ok question time
@CRH107 Treat people well, build relationships, network, and interview well. Goes an awful long way.

RE: Ok question time
I’m coaching 5 year olds soccer
I showed them tape of Frank taking it to the rack and told them if they don’t lay it out on the line like that every time they need to just hang it up and go home.
Is that what you mean ?!!?
-
RE: Ok question time
@mayjay No, they said “Coach, we think you need a timeout. Your face is getting really red, and there is a crawdad in that ditch over there I want to chase”
-
RE: Exposed
After getting their tails kicked last weekend, the Syracuse Orange coaching staff delivered the perfect strategy to their guy Hopkins to address Kansas’ three point proficiency. To Hopkins’ credit, his team executed the game plan wonderfully. The team has a high ceiling and a low floor.

RE: Texas Down, Four to Go Until Morgantown
i thought they broke the press easily…once they finally got it in it was moved up the court quickly.
once the 2 new bigs come in i expect Newman’s minutes to dwindle. he just doesn’t bring much at all right now.

RE: Self's Worst Team at KU
Don’t forget the 14-15 team (would lose to the Topeka YMCA) went 26-9 and 13-5 in big 12. So we still have a chance to turn this around. I’m afraid that is not going to happen until Preston comes along, but this will be a totally different team in 8 weeks. The streak is becoming a burden at this point.

RE: Francisco Franco Is Still Dead. Are Preston and De Sousa Still Not Cleared?
@joeloveshawks How many clicks DOES it take to get the center of the BillyPop?

RE: Conspiracy between Big XII coaches to gift KU #14
I guess that makes me a doubter, which is fine. I am no less a fan, however. I love the program. I don’t buy what the media is always selling. I try to observe, and then formulate my own ideas. The media have called the Big 12 the strongest conference the last 3-4 years as we send 6-7 out of 10 teams to the dance. Yet, how well have all those strong teams performed in the tournament? Oklahoma in the FF in 2016 was is the only FF since Kansas in 2012, right?
Kansas is leading this league again. The team that struggled against a Kentucky team (who I said wasn’t good at that time and have finally dropped out of the top 25). They get their tails kicked by Washington at Sprint and then ASU at home. (Go check their conference record). Got their tales kicked at home by Tech who looked good and have now lost 3 of 4 and one of them to the last place team in the league. Kansas barely wins at home against an average Kansas State team (now tied for second in the league) Barely Beats Baylor at home, who is in the bottom of the league, and needed a record night on from 3 to beat Texas at home, another average team.
This Kansas team is not a great team. Yes, they can beat probably anybody on a great shooting night. But I’m also convinced they could lose to a lot of teams as well. In Self’s own words, he identified this team as the team with the least margin for error as any team since he’s been here. And this team is now leading this league by two games. Maybe “mediocre” was too harsh. Maybe average is better. We can call the Big 12 a strong conference all we want, but their performance in dance says otherwise year after year. Just because the league has parity, doesn’t mean it has strength. I’m sure you can find every metric in the world to prove me wrong, and that’s okay. The BPI, SOS, KenPoms, Sagarin, RPI, DUI, CIA, NWO, FBI…all of them probably call big 12 strong. I just don’t agree.

Trae Young Mania
ESPN marketing Young hard. Above the team scores it has been keeping Young’s stat line permanently
also WVU is so offensively inept, it is hard to watch.
also Trae Young is a whiner.
also the FT discrepancy in this joke is ridiculous.
also Trae is a baller. but he’s also a whiner.

RE: Trae Young Mania
@HighEliteMajor not sure how to take this!!?? Doke would have drawn 5 technicals tonight with that behavior.

RE: Turns out Big Baller - - not that big
Anyone trying to give LaVar Ball money deserves to be taken for a fool, in my not-so-humble opinion. He is the worst thing in sports since the introduction of television timeouts and TV Blackouts.

RE: Tournament Success Is The Only Success
Far, far, and away the worst perspective and opinion I have read on this forum from somebody i truly respect and appreciate. This post reeks of selfish ego, cynicism, and is a direct result of being spoiled by this programs successes. You know it really pisses me off when Kansas plays down to their competition thinking they have a leg up because of the name on the jersey. Yet, here you are thinking we should show up to a 64 team tournament and win it because “we are Kansas” ? Come on, get real. It’s up to us, the educated basketball fan base that we are, to evaluate our team and set new expectations. Thinking a team should perform a certain way, year after year, regardless of the personnel is a completely rigid and unfair thought process. If your son was on this team, would there still be “no success”? I coach all youth sports , and have for 10 years in my community. We have a handful of championships but very few compared to our opportunities. Should I tell my kids there was no “success” in their year because they didnt win the last game. Would you tell the kids you coach this and believe it? By the way you never defined success, nor why it “means more”. Is it because the media aggrandizes the event to capitalize on it monetarily?
My definition of success is happiness. And no, I’m not happy with my hawks all of the time, and more often than not sad at the end of each year. But when I look at the seasons, I look at them holistically. Not rigidly with no change in expectations.

RE: NOW WE KNOW WHY THEY CALL HIM SNACKS?
@ralster No apology needed. I don’t take any of this as a personal jab. We have different opinions. Reasonable minds may differ.
FYI, I live in Kansas, not Colorado. I don’t use marijuana, I simply condone having an open mind.
And my father has suffered from PTSD (though he refuses to try cannabis) since 1972 upon his return from Vietnam. And I’ve watched as the VA prescribes pill after pill for him to no avail. Yes, his violence and sensitivity to loud noises and crowds has been lessened, but his true personality has been subdued as well. All of these medicines that are supposed to help him have turned him into a zombie. Sometimes I wish I had the old Jarhead back. Would you want my dad landing his CH53 Sea Stallion in a cross wind on Barbituates and Depressants? Your medical field prescribes them.

RE: NOW WE KNOW WHY THEY CALL HIM SNACKS?
I enjoy all the different points of view. Thinking is healthy and my favorite thing to do.
