@approxinfinity I agree re Kornheiser and Wilbon. I think they were originally and for much of their careers newspaper men. A completely different breed from the online personality.

Ok I just listened to it. A LOT of detail in the story. I was extremely skeptical his reading about it but after hearing the guy’s story… I don’t know…

Details make lies seem credible. Knowing this helped a lot when I was judging commodity fraud cases and asked lots of questions to evaluate witness credibility. The liars practiced their stories but they usually only had surface details, no depth to follow-ups. ( I had lots of fun because any lawyer will tell you cross-examination is the best part of being in a trial! Often the witnesses and their lawyers--if any--got all flustered because they had never heard of judges doing the questioning to both sides. Sometimes back and forth. Our rules expressly allowed it.) (BTW, it isn't an apreciated strategy in family discussions...as most lawyers usually find out the hard way. 🤕)

Yeah listened to it as well and it is more believable than I was thinking just reading the post. The details don't necessarily give it too much credibility for me, but learned it was directly from someone one of the hosts knew and not some random fan. But am still far from sold that it happened, especially if they had other media duties after the game ended.

@benshawks08 See what I'm saying ?-- - Sounds to me like it's real- --to detailed , and others backing the story.

i wouldn't put it past Fran , the guy is a jerk and has no problem taking his jabs on KU he is one of those types will say one thing to your face and then when your back is turned - - --

If more detail means a story is more likely to be true then I suppose James Joyce's Ulysses is the truest tale ever told!

Yeah the fact that it was a literal friend of the pod and the manner in which it was told and questioned by the hosts felt real. Obviously I don’t know and probably never will. And fran could easily play it off as tongue in cheek. But wow.

                Privilege isn't nonsense.

@Jayhawk_69 Just to clarify: I didn't say details mean a story is credible. I said lies can seem credible when backed up with details. The inability to test a story like this one (by asking questions) makes it hard to test the truthfulness.

All of the lies in that story reminded me of another event Tuesday night.....

Fran constantly pisses me off... but I can't believe this story. Fran is smart enough to realize how risky this would be, especially in modern times where everyone has a video camera in their phone. That would not only get him banned from KU, but also the Big 12 and other work he has.

Even though Fran sometimes says bad remarks in a game, it's okay for us to have a guy like that around. He gives us someone to post about... usually making fun of him.

I used to despise Dickie V. Then when he battled for his life from cancer and survived... I softened my thoughts completely. Then when I discovered how much he is doing to raise awareness and money for cancer, I suddenly became a fan!

It's easy to take things "personal" from these sports commentators, but at the end of the day, they put their pants on just like we do.

I haven't like Vitale as a broadcaster for the better part of 20 years because he's basically just been a caricature and his extreme Duke bias. I've always respected him as a person though because of his passion for the game and his promotion of the V Foundation and cancer research.

"Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that."
Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Actually, the broadcasters undoubtedly parked in the small parking lot adjoining the south side of the field house.
Great Story: I don't remember the date, only that Cedric Hunter was playing. (The 6' guard had arms so long that he had to have his shirts specially made. 36 long wasn't long enough for Cedric.) Anyway, we were late to the game. I had stopped for a take-out pizza along the way from KC. My wife had the pizza box in her lap as I drove down Naismith Drive to the SE corner of the Field House (where crowds of people from the big lot (90?) cross the street). I spoke loudly to give the impression I was late and in a hurry. I said to the cop as I pointed to the pizza box, "Pizza for the press box!!" Without questioning me, he waved me through to park right behind the Field House. True Story. I swear!
