Very Last Myles Turner Comments!

  • Just joking!

An hour away from knowing… but will be glad when the drama is over!

  • @drgnslayr LOL 🙂

I will read or hear the very very last Myles Turner comments shortly.

YES…it will all be over shortly.

  • Pulled up the ESPNU Twitter. I hate to have to rely on kusports.com for this info…

  • Sitting at the Denver Airport eagerly aw aiting the news. My flight starts boarding in 20 minutes, so hopefully I will know before then…

  • @JayHawkFanToo dragging it out

  • @JayhawkFanToo, your plane may land before this is over…

  • @Kip_McSmithers good one!

  • Well, I guess he’s not as smart as he looks.

  • UT - wow once again, Barnes will under achieve and he can thank KD for that gift

KU will be fine with who we have…I’ll take Lucas and Mickelson at this point.

Not surprised, just disappointed in his decision. It’s not because he chose UT, but UT is not the best choice. I’d rather him choose SMU and LB, because LB would develop him. Rick Barnes is the most underachieving coach in college bball history. He’s failed to win B12 championships and he’s failed to win a NC.

Enjoy Myles and good luck you’re going to need it.

“University of Texas baby” You knew all long. Did you hear why he drug out his decision? He wanted his teammates to get exposure. Screw the teams that wanted him. He knew all along that UT was his choice. My guess is Rick Barnes knew at some point too. While getting your team exposure may sound like being a team player, you really disrespected the programs that recruited you. Well, lost just a little respect for the kid. His choice, and respect that, but now I want KU to pound UT this year and make Turner regret choosing UT. I want this conference championship more than any other year.

Lucas and Mickelson need to get ready. It’s go time and your chance. Let’s see what you’ve got.

  • @nuleafjhawk also skinny body,

  • Barnes will be picked to finish 2nd or 3rd. Finish 5th or 6th though. Typical Rick.

  • @truehawk93 Glad this is at least over with. Good luck to Turner.

Do we think Bill turns up the heat on Graham?

  • @joeloveshawks Yep…he will milk it too. He’ll choose NCST. Just like Turner.

  • So it’s Texas. Good luck fella (not against us though).

    Next…

  • I’m glad that’s over too. Hopefully Self can get Graham to commit now. Barnes gets guys to the L but I’m not so sure he develops his guys like Self and Brown can/do. My uncle is a diehard ut fan (he graduated from there back in the 90’s) and he says a lot of horns fans are tired of Barnes. If you think about it he’s done no better, and probably worse than Mack did while at ut with pretty much the same opportunities. At least Mack won a title!

  • Myles Turner appears happy with his choice. I am happy with our Jayhawks. We will have another fantastic season. Great time to be a Kansas Jayhawk. Great job recruiting Coach Self. Alexander and Oubre were great additions to an excellent team. I am very excited!

  • @joeloveshawks Read on Graham’s twitter account that his picks are down to NC State and KU.

  • @KansasComet Couldn’t agree more. Myles will regret playing before a half empty arena and seeing no fans except the student section actually paying attention to the game. Most of the “supporters” go there to be seen and the money ones are the ones on the sidelines. Students are relegated to the end zones.

  • I can honestly say that I’m NOT disappointed. As stupid as it sounds, i’m still not a fan of having too many “superstars” on one team.

What I’d REALLY like to see us land is a lightning quick, 5’2" white guy (no racism remarks please) who has 12 assists and no turnovers per game and shoots about 95% at the free throw line.

That way the NBA won’t be looking at him and we’ll have him for 4 years.

(I edited this, as before I wrote that I was disappointed. I’m Not!! - One of those days)

  • Well, there goes Bill’s shot at the #1 recruiting class. I was looking forward to seeing KU listed above UK on ESPN for once, but I think we’ll be ok.

I expect Cliff to have more immediate impact on the program than Turner would have. I also expect Cliff to take it to Turner in the post when they meet in the Big 12. Did those two ever match up in their senior hs seasons?

  • @ajvan : Even with Turner ESPN wasn’t moving us up to number 1. They said we’d move up to third.

  • @RockChalkinTexas Interesting you said most of the Texas bball “supporters” go there to be seen and the money ones are the ones on the sidelines (with students in the endzones)"…Well, in regards to money-donors seating compared to student seating…you also described AFH. Obviously we at KU are there in truer support of our team…

  • I think we enough talent to be very, very good. I wasn’t of the school that thought Turner was essential for our success. I’d rather have a good point guard.

  • hat

I don’t want to sound disgruntled but damn that’s an ugly hat!!! Do they not sell better ut hats at the local Dick’s or Academy?? Looks like he ran across the street to the gas station before the ceremony to pick it up!

  • @Kip_McSmithers and where do you buy those cases for such special hats?

  • Barnes will be picked to finish 2nd or 3rd. Finish 5th or 6th though. Typical Rick.

@Kip_McSmithers He will win 7 or 8 in a row and everyone will think he is great, then he will lose 5 in a row late in the season and they won’t say anything until he win the COY award for finishing 3rd or 4th or 5th.

  • @JRyman gag!

  • The only thing that really concerns me heading into next season?

In announcer voice — “Starting at guard, a 5’11” senior, number 10, Naadir Tharpe"

  • Did anyone else see his teammate whose sagging pants fell down when they were moving around behind him?

  • @jayhawkeyes missed it!

  • I’m not bitter at all. Sure I wanted us to land him, but I’m fine that we didn’t. The only thing that bothers me about the whole thing is he drug it out, and let Bill waste his time down there on Easter Sunday. If he knew it was Texas then (and really, what transpired or even could have transpired between now and then that would have swayed him?), he should have told Bill not to waste his time.

I’m with HEM, my only concern is Tharpe.

  • @icthawkfan316 Turner sounded like he knew all along, wasted time and money dragging it out!

  • I don’t think Self had an answer for Myles and why he should come to Kansas.

From everything I read, Myles doesn’t want to beef up and play in the low post (which is where he would have needed to be in Self’s hi/lo).

There was this concept floating around that he would play high post in Self’s hi/lo. Seriously? “High” as in from the trey line?

I always wanted this kid wearing a Jayhawk uniform, but as time went on I sort of developed mixed feelings. Were we going to try a completely different offense to accommodate him shooting 3s? He could be on of those unconventional players that ends up screwing up an offense more than helping one if the specific right plan isn’t used.

I hope the best for Myles. He sounds like a bright, positive kid. But I’m curious how he will work into the lineup at UT. They going to play him as a guard? I don’t see any possibility for him going OAD at Texas.

  • Ready to kill these posts? Done w/turner! What do you know about graham?

  • If Lucas or Mickelson or Traylor play really well, that will be much more satisfying than the roller coaster ride that Turner would give us. Don’t get me wrong, with our current roster composition, I’d gladly take Turner. But now that he’s a Longhorn, we can focus on our guys. We need just one of those three to really step up – really need one to step up? Did I say really, really need one to step up?

I go with Lucas. Steps up to the challenge.

  • Hey, can anyone remind me how to include a pix I have saved in My Pictures into one of my posts here. God, I’ve done it once several mos ago, but cannot remember how! (I got a special pix “recruited” just for HEM…). Thanks to any replies…

  • @HighEliteMajor i was on the Lucas wagon at the beginning of the year, but jumped off. He seemed to be slower than I thought. He had a bad game, either TCU or Texas, kinda went down hill from there. I would be the first to back him if he improves! Great kid! Anxious to see hunter play, was googling him after this afternoon. Ready to move on.

  • @Crimsonorblue22

“Ready to kill these posts? Done w/turner! What do you know about graham?”

I’m pretty sure when it is all said and done Graham is the guy we really need sooner rather than later.

  • @drgnslayr so what do you know about him? Is their a date for his decision? Do you have 'maters planted?

  • Ok…Let’s see if Self gets Graham. I don’t think you’ll have a hat ceremony. It will simply be announced on twitter or some really low key way. Most of us will probably be reading in a few wks and learn that Graham committed without any real attention. It will be a quiet announcement and not one anlayst will say a single word.

I would love to hear Self’s pitch to Graham.

  • @ralster

Sorry, don’t know how to embed a pic…look forward to learning.

Totally forgot about the “big” announcement today…yawn…

Actually glad he stayed in conference. I love winning it EVERY year but wish we had more conference teams make the F4 and maybe even win a national title as it only helps our SOS and reputation as a quasi hoops conference.

What other B12 school would you most want to win a NC? Least want?

  • Meh. I actually like to see a few top players stay in their home states (unless KU is a better fit, of course!). He seems like a good kid, so good luck to him when he’s not playing KU.

Plus, I think two years of Mickelson will be worth more than one or two years of Turner.

  • @Crimsonorblue22

I’m under the impression he’ll announce within a week. Latest… Friday after this one.

I’ve got about half my garden in. Still have some babies (seedlings) indoors soaking up warm nights.

My total plant count for this year is around 450! Biggest garden I’ve ever done. Extended my growing space almost X2.

I’ll can, dehydrate, pickle and preserve as much as I can eat until next summer and the rest I’ll give to friends and a diner for the needy.

  • @truehawk93

It seems we do better with guys who like to announce the low key way.

  • @drgnslayr what all do you have? I just do a “salsa” garden and cucs. I can salsa. Not dance! Nothing in mine yet. Think it’s a lil cool yet.

  • @Crimsonorblue22

I’ll grow about 20 herbs… many are returning perennials… probably about 20 varieties of tomatoes… many of them heirlooms. I think I have about 40 varieties of peppers this year. Most of them are spicy. Many are rare heritage peppers from Native Americans and Mexico. 5 varieties of eggplant. Several cucumbers and about 50 Lebanese cucumber plants (called “mytha” ). 6 kinds of string beans (mostly Asian). Horseradish. Several kinds of greens… Kales, lettuces, spinach… Then I have a berry patch! I’m surely leaving out several things.

  • @Kip_McSmithers Not a slam - just an observation.

This guy looks like a cross between Gilligan and Steve Urkel.

  • @nuleafjhawk you are right!!!

  • @drgnslayr so impressive, love to see it!

  • Just a thought…

But could this Myles going to Texas actually help Kansas wrap up the next couple of B12 titles?

Think about it… Myles is a nice catch, but he’ll be rough this coming year. May not produce much for the Longhorns. But by picking Texas instead of Kansas, he rejected Oubre and Alexander’s offer… kind of rejecting them… kind of rejecting Kansas!

I’m thinking our guys won’t have a hard time getting jacked to play Texas as long as Myles is playing for the Longhorns.

It’s not like Myles is a bad guy… but the truth is he rejected us. And when you are preparing to play another team, you look for whatever stuff can get your guys motivated!

    I’m sensing B12 #11 and #12 will be ours!
