@Kcmatt7 I think you should just escort them around!

If I wasn’t saving for my wedding I’d be able to do and then suggest more! But sort of poor at the moment…

All these posts are making me envious. We have about 10 Waffle Houses, a few Bojangles, and an IHop in easy reach…

    Who doesn’t love Breakfast food?

  • @Kcmatt7 congrats

  • @Crimsonorblue22 I’m not there yet lol.

  • @Kcmatt7 engagement!

  • U getting married in Kc area?

  • @jayballer73 I got to see Nino Samuel play on a regular basis when he was in High School. I was in 6th or 7th grade or so and if I remember, Nino was about 6’5" and looked like Mr Universe. And oh my goodness, the fellow could JUMP. I was disappointed that he didn’t turn out to be the next Michael Jordan, but he sure seemed like it in High School.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 I’m not actually… I locked down a Jersey girl by accident.

I wish we were. Could have had the ceremony at the Cathedral and the Reception at Boulevard and it would have been basically the same price and a little nicer than what we will be doing in Jersey. Not that it won’t be a nice Wedding! You just get more bang for your buck here than there.

  • @mayjay

    YOU LIVE IN MANHATTAN ???

  • @Kcmatt7 KC has some great breakfast places too - Big Biscuit, Kate’s Kitchen, The Corner Cafe, First Watch, Blue Bird Bistro - to name just a few.

Hah! Actually, in Columbia. But not the MU trash heap. The other SEC one. Where people fill a 75,000 stadium even when the team is crappy. There actually are a number of nice restaurants here.

Lots of great Coffee shops and breakfast places for sure! I haven’t been to Kate’s or Big Biscuit yet, but I love the other three!

There is also Bloom Baking, Opera House, Banksia, Homesteader Cafe, the Jacobson, eggtc., Westport Cafe and a few others I’m sure I’m missing! Very good breakfast food/brunch. Toughest choice most weekends is deciding!

Then you have just the coffee shops, Mildred’s, Messenger, Mother Earth, Oddly Correct, The Roastarie, Filling Station, Thou Mayest, and probably a half dozen other local ones.

Honestly, KC is an underrated place for foodies, imo.

Our son lives in KC and we visit frequently. He has shown us a lot of great restaurants. And you are right - KC is vastly underrated - the BBQ gets some press, but there are SO many great places to eat there.

I can’t remember the name of the place, but there’s an Indian (no, not Native American…) restaurant in Zona Rosa that is outstanding!

  • … the dot not the feather.

  • @HighEliteMajor Lol - took me a minute!!

yes sir , you hit it spot on if I remember correctly he was a guy right at 6’5 - -6’6 - and the kid was built like a brick outhouse without a brick missing. - -Really thick , and again your right he just didn’t do really a lot in college, think just a case where he didn’t develop - and mercy the dude could jump out of the Gym for sure. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Since I am bored senseless at work today, here’s a Nino report:

Samuel moved to Salina in December 1969 and joined the team as a sophomore. He played in 16 games in the 1969-70 season, averaging 12.8 points and 11.1 rebounds a game to help Salina High win the Central Kansas League title for the first time since the mid-1950s.

A year later, in its first year as Salina Central High School, Samuel was a key player in the Mustangs run to the 1971 Class 4A state title. His scoring average improved to 23.5 points a game, he was named most valuable player of the 4A state tournament and was selected Kansas Player of the Year.

By now every opponent knew of Samuel’s talents, but could do little to stop him. As a senior his scoring average soared to 31.1 points a game and he was again named Player of the Year in Kansas. In perhaps his most impressive performance, he scored 54 points and had 18 rebounds in a five-point semifinal win over Garden City at the McPherson Invitational. The Mustangs returned to the state tourney for the third consecutive year, but were eliminated in the opening round, where Samuel had 14 points and 19 rebounds in his final game.

After high school, Samuel played for the University of Kansas and Marymount College. He later played professionally for Athletes in Action, the Las Vegas Dealers and for a team in the Philippines.

  • @nuleafjhawk I remember being excited about Nino when he joined KU…do you remember why he seemed to not live up to the hype? Or did he and I just don’t remember?

  • @Hawk8086 You’re right. He did not do very well at all at KU. I believe a large part of it was that he struggled mightily with his grades?

  • Sad when a guy peaks in HS. At least it was just athletics.

Remember the funny rumor - -well for some anyways , how people said if you rushed Nino to spell his name in a hurry - -he would get it wrong two-out of three times.

Ya he really struggled with his grades

  • @jayballer73 Nino was coaching/training kids in Atlanta. I had to look him up to see if he was the same Nino…and he was.
