Other Big-12 action

Half the Big-12 remains unbeaten at this point. Not a surprise since most of the league hasn’t played anyone besides Baylor.
KU through 4 games- Opponent’s Record 18-8
Rest of the league
K-St- 8-18
OU- 13-17
Tech- 12-16
OSU- 16-15
Baylor- 24-18
WVU- 13-10
Texas- 14-15
TCU- 13-12
ISU- 12-12

@BeddieKU23 One might argue that at least that many B12 teams should be unbeaten at this juncture, given the quality of the schedules played.
B12 teams have only 5 non-conference losses thus far, which is fewer than any other conference. ACC teams have 8 non-conference losses (spread over 16 teams, of course). While B12 teams have thus far avoided any really bad losses, until Baylor’s win against Villanova, there haven’t been any really quality wins for the conference as a whole. Usually, at least the Jayhawks have 1 or 2 at this point.
The holiday tournaments should give us a better idea of the strength of the relative strength of the B12 and other conferences. Based on what we’ve seen thus far, it may well be like recent seasons - solid from top to bottom, with no bad teams, but not nearly as strong as other conferences at the upper echelon (KU expected, of course)…

Mercy that’s really bad , and to think even with such a sorry schedule against nobodies a lot of these teams have struggles with those nobodies - - mainly K-State for sure. - - Again Balor is pretty salty - -super quick guards. We all know what Jarrod Butler can do, Teague looks pretty solid
-
My General Impression from watching the Big-12 so far is that there are 2/3 teams at the top, a middle of 4-5 teams and two teams clearly at the bottom. It will be interesting to see if that continues on through the season.
What I’ve seen so far, the Big-12 as a whole is down compared to some recent years. All the usual factors, graduations, transfers, lack of top end talent coming in and returning have caught up to some teams.
KU, Baylor & an untested Texas Tech look like the cream of the conference so far.
K-St has struggled mightily against some really suspect teams and TCU is a one man team right now. It’s hard to see either of those teams making an impact without significant improvement.
Oklahoma, Texas, Oklahoma St & Iowa St look like competitive teams. I have no idea what West Virginia is yet but it looks like their defense is far away from what they used to be. Huggy has a rep for overachieving but overall its a team lacking significant talent in the backcourt. OU could overachieve this season if they continue to have 3 guys hover around the Top 10 in scoring in the conference.
-
Well K-State really struggled today - -they looked bad. - half way decent on the defensive end BUT man they suck on the offense. - -3/13 from the line - 59 points for the game losing to a Pitt team not very good either.
You get beat by a team that turns the ball over 21 times and shoots 1-16 from the 3 - -you are in trouble. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Really they have played like this in every game but just wasnt facing power 5 teams.

This kid is absolutely tearing it up. Totally unranked. You really just never know.
-
Redshirted too. Potential top 5 pick the way he is playing. I knew he was good but this is crazy

It seems to me that Self is being much more patient with Braun than just about any player I remember. I remember Russel Rob getting more than a few quick yanks in his first season. Some cannot deal w/that type of pressure.

MEANWHILE KSUCK IS DOWN 10 TO BRADLEY WHAT A DAY
-
Bradley up 8 with 1:54 to go. I will be watching the rest of this one all the way.

The last time a B12 team was as bad as this KSU team was on offense was the 0-18 TCU team just saying.
-
@BShark So you’re saying we’re going to lose to them and Bill is going to make comments about Topeka YMCA again?
-
Losing by 13 to Bradley. That’s impressive.
-
Another Tech on K-State by what’s his name lol

It’s almost unreal how bad this KSU team is. Usually they are average… 4-2 due to Bruce the creampuff god.
-
they just flat suck this year
-
Iowa lost to a purple mid-major. We need to avoid purple mid-major teams. Unfortunately we have to play KSU twice.
-
Iowa st was downed by Michigan. Looks like they are down too
-
Okie State up by 12 on Cuse at half.
-
who is it anyways that Wichita State has beaten to have a 6-0 record? - -WV is 5-0 ? - - hmmmmm
-
@jayballer73 All of their games have been at home until this tourney. Omaha, Oral Roberts, Gardner-Webb, U T Martin, Tex. Southern. So nobody really.
-
Cuse is really bad but would be a good win for them

Kansas State loses to Bradley by 13 to finish last in the Fort Myers tip off in a 4 team tournament that Pittsburgh ended up winning. Not a good look after surviving some home scares against typewriter repair schools and falling to 4-2 on the year. They pretty much have Sneed and Diarrhea.
Oklahoma State was victorious as underdogs against Syracuse. They improve to 6-0 against a fairly easy schedule but anytime the B12 beats the ACC it makes me smile. OSU is probably a team that battles for an NCAA birth.
West Virginia holds on against Wichita is not a State to improve to 6-0 as well. They have some good pieces like 6’9 Oscar not even gonna try that last name, he finished with 19 points and 18 rebounds. Their schedule isn’t spectacular either but do own a win against Pittsburgh. They will likely be ranked Monday and push us a few times.
Iowa State falls to Michigan in the battle for Atlantis 83-76. Watched some this one and ISU is pretty typical ISU. They live and die by the three, just didn’t hit enough to win today. They has some talented older guys and some younger ones, they just don’t guard or play together at this point. The loss was their second (Oregon State) as they fell to 3-2 on the season. I’m starting to think Prohm isn’t all that great of a coach.
That’s a wrap on today’s big 12 action. Obviously we all know what went down in Hawaii and with Jayhawks. Join in next week when my four year son will be my guest. Many rocks chalks and talks of chicken nuggets will be had .
