Watch Bill close on Stanley and Hampton and Doke stays lol.
- PG: Dotson - Mcbride
- SG: Hampton
- SF : Stanley
- PF: Ochai - Garrett
- C: Doke - Big Dave - Mitch
A pipe dream, but it’d be one hell of a group.
I mean, it’s not out of the realm of possibility. KU is well positioned with Stanley.
It’s not. And that team would be salty af. Really takes convincing Hampton to come play next to Stanley though.
Imagine all the dunks from that group…
Agree but man RJ would be a NEED because of his shooting.
If I were putting in cb picks I’d say
Hurt - Duke (duh)
Stanley - KU
Precious - KU
RJ - Cloudy
I’d love to get Beverly too and that’s a winnable recruitment but man that would take some legendary finessing to get Stanley, RJ and Beverly and I just don’t see it happening.
My only concern is, if we somehow pulled of Precious, Stanley and RJ, they aren’t exactly the most humble of guys… I could see some personallity clash. Or, they could feed off of each other… High risk high reward.
-
@Kcmatt7 I’d love to have that problem. Like paying taxes on winning the lottery!
-
The team banquet is next Tuesday. I’m guessing a decision from Doke might happen by then.

I’d love for him to announce at the banquet.

Apparently he didn’t play this year? Odd.
Anyway we will need some post guys.
-
Looks like Dedric Lawson lite.
-
Shoulder injury
-
All time leading shot blocker at SFA

I got aroused by his defensive stats on sports reference.
-
Always liked him, remembered the yr they won a tourney game and lost to WV. He can shoot the 3 too. Ideal 4 man if your going with shooters

And 3PT shooting %s over .400
-
He is visiting Illinois as well and Underwood recruited him to SFA so this actually could be a tough pull.

I mean Dedric averaged more blocks per game at Memphis than Holyfield did at SFA. In 3 seasons, Dedric has 161 blocks. In 3 seasons, TJ has 133 blocks. So ya, Dedric lite.
-
But can he jump? I assume he can jump. That was the issue for Dedric and why his blocks tapered off at the B12 level.
-
I wouldn’t say no but I’d kind of rather just play Dave and Mitch.
-
Idk about Mitch.
-
He’d probably average 4 blocks per game in the Southland conference.

Fair. He would also probably average like 5 pts. Mitch is basically just a zero on offense.
-
Similar feelings. I wouldn’t be upset. I wouldn’t be pumped. He’s better than an empty scholarship.
-
@BShark Averaged 2.4 pts in 11.7 minutes in the Big 12. Exrapolating to 30 minutes it’s about 7 points. Adjusting for an easier SOS in the Southland probably around 10ish pts.

@BShark Of those 3…what order would you prefer?
OF those three myself I think I would want # 1 Precious for front front court help - -then probably Hampton because of his shooting - -the 3 Stanley - but man I’d still take Stanley would be a hard choice for the 3rd spot
-
@Kcmatt7 Exactly where I’m at with it. Going to need bodies/numbers so a couple grad transfers make sense to fill out the roster.
@KirkIsMyHinrich You stop it with your fancy math.
-
@BShark My fancy math isn’t enough to prevent my research professor from yelling at me weekly.

Why hasn’t doke decided?
The door may be ajar.
that’s what I was wondering myself earlier today. - of all the people to have a decision - -I thought he would of been one of the 1st ones to make an announcement - -thusly I agree with you - you don’t suppose he might be thinking of coming back do you? - -could be he wants that degree NOW - been discussed so many times BUT just don’t think his NBA status is gonna change that much think he is gonna drown in the modern day NBA - -trying to keep pace with the fast pace up and down the floor - Some one might give him a shot off his size alone but truly think his money is over sea’s - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

So we could replace Grimes’ production by playing Mitch more?
-
I don’t see how Doke is back. Self basically said so.
-
@dylans no
-
Stanley is visiting Duke this weekend.
Unfortunately we know how this story ends. They are going to swoop in and get him and hurt this next week.
-
Lol
-
Lol at adding Duke to his previously cut list. Crap.
-
What a joke. I’m so incredibly tired of being an Adidas school.
-
I’m incredibly tired of duke

Whatever will be will be. All I want is:
- an athletic kid
- with a non-broken shot
- who can move his feet
- and who wants to work hard and get better
- and help his team win
- and won’t go pro until he’s projected first round, or projected at his presumed highest in the draft
If that’s Stanley, awesome. Come on down. If it isn’t, then on to the next kid.
-
I have faith in Self but I’m growing pretty pessimistic about what he’s going to salvage here.
Hurt is going to Duke. I assume Stanley is now as well. I don’t think Precious comes to KU. As of right now we don’t even have a official visit secured with Beverly. I just don’t see how this ends well for Self and KU.
-
Well just seen the 247 pick already where he says or gave a Duke pick for Stanley - if that happens then it happens
That also might mean that Duke knows they not in the running for Hampton anymore so- -so they had to re adjust - -might just make things a lot better for us if Hampton re classifies As a matter of fact pretty sure he will
-
I’m tellin you I’m about ready to cash this fricken years recruiting in for sure. - Getting really sick and tired of all the misses - -it’s a dam cess pool
How in the hell can a school just come in out of now where on the LAST weekend before the kid is making an announcement and get a visit out of him - -Stanley? - Duke just waltzes in and now I see they have 5 CB picks for him - the 1st day he visits the campus - that’s just beyond comprehending. - All I hear about how hard it is to pull a west Coast kid off the Coast. - -Well we are talking about pulling a kid off the Coast and going completely to the opposite Coast - all the way across the Nation - -Coast - -to - -Coast - there is no way you can’t tell me something smells there.
Then I see the other recruit - -Beverly just got another CB to Georgia -dam CB shows 80% Michigan St for the kid and Georgia the other 20% - this just adds up to one huge big pile of DOG DOO - -just a fricked up year for sure
-
I’m incredibly tired of college basketball.
And Pro basketball.
And baseball.
And football - just pro football, because the Chiefs always get rid of their best players, plus I’m excited to see what Miles does the next few seasons at KU.
But I still like golf. It is the BEST to nap to.
-
You might wanna sit down for this - - Stanley has postponed his announcement date till the 20th of April - -a day AFTER Hurts Announcement - - - - -ABSOLUTE STUNNER - -could it be - - 19th of April - -Hurt announces - -DUKE - - 20th of April - - Stanley announces DUKE - we are getting clowned by Rat face - -ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING -
-
@jayballer73 They’ll probably do Duke as much good as Zion did.
-
@nuleafjhawk Are you saying he’s doing us a favor by forcing Bill into multi-year players?
-
@nuleafjhawk the Chiefs have had a great off-season so far
-
@dylans Yes!
Think about the OAD’s that KU has had. I won’t mention names, but you know who they are. Have they helped us in any way?
Think about the 4 year players…again I won’t name names. But many of them are on banners hanging in the rafters of Allen Fieldhouse.
It’s not just us. I was just talking about this earlier this morning with a guy at work. Look for Gonzaga to start a downward spiral in the next few years - because - they got to where they are because of having a core of juniors and seniors that got to know each other and they played well together as a team. Now that they are starting to reach that “elite” (not blue blood) status, they will start seeing an influx of OAD’s and they will start seeing a whole lot of “L”'s pile up.
Give me a team of junior and senior nobody’s anytime. For instance:
2019 National Championship players -
VIRGINIA -
Diakite - JR
Clark - FR
Guy - JR
Jerome - JR
Hunter - SO
Key - JR
Salt - SR
Huff - SO
TEXAS TECH
Owens - SR
Mooney - SR
Culver - SO
Moretti - SO
Odiase - SR
Francis - SR
Edwards - SR
Corprew - SO
Sorry this is so long-winded, but this really jumps out at me. Each team had one Freshman, Virginia had 2 sophomores and TT had three, but all the rest are Juniors and Seniors. To my limited knowledge, none of those players were players that Duke, Kentucky, UNC or any other blue bloods were really slobbering over.
I don’t know - maybe it doesn’t mean anything. But it does to me.
-
@nuleafjhawk think some of those guys transferred in?
-
@nuleafjhawk Of the four transfers on Texas Tech’s roster, three played prominent roles as the Red Raiders knocked off Michigan State 61-51 in the Final Four on Saturday night at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Fifth-year senior guard Matt Mooney, a grad transfer from South Dakota, scored a team-high 22 points in the win. Another grad transfer from St. John’s, forward Tariq Owens, came back from an ankle injury to finish with seven points, four rebounds and three blocked shots in 22 minutes.
Senior guard Brandone Francis, a conventional transfer from Florida, had nine points and two assists in 25 minutes off the bench.
“It says a lot about our culture, the things we have down there in Lubbock (Texas),” Francis said. “Everyone is family.”
Swingman DeShawn Corprew, a JUCO college transfer from South Plains College, played just two minutes off the bench against Michigan State but is averaging 5.3 points and 3.5 rebounds off the bench for Texas Tech.
-
@nuleafjhawk Yeah, it’s how you win a championship. You have a core of talented “program” guys (3-4 year players). Then you sprinkle in 1 and 2 year talent at a couple of positions. That’s how KU won in ‘08, that’s how ‘Nova won both of their championships, it’s how UK won their one championship under Cal (that and Anthony freakin’ Davis was the one year player they sprinkled in). Poor timing too, KU got hot in the tournament and would’ve picked up a title in another year.
