He’s isn’t just some guy from South Dakota St. He averaged 25 points a game last year.
He had 30 and 13 in their last game with Five 3’s. For the season he’s 47% FG, 47% from 3, 90% from the line. At 6’9 250 who’s covering him away from the basket?
The team is shooting 44% from 3, 7 rotation guys have made at least 1 already.
They share the ball extremely well and rebound at a high level.
I didn’t say we’d lose, I said its a trap game which it is. 3 days after a tough game in Chicago playing a team with one of the best College Basketball players in the country is recipe for a close game.
I expect the team to shoot better being at home. But with the Preston situation still hanging over us we have 7 guys who can play and not one that can cover an inside/out forward.

He will score a lot the key is making him work for it and limiting their other guys.

This SDSU team isn’t one to sleep on, not only did they hit 17 3s last game but have the same core guys that went to Dance back to back for the first time in school history in 16 and 17. Seems like these are the games we struggle with at home under Self and after the UK game we must be focused with no hang over. @HawkChamp Sherron claimed that a kid from NDSU was the toughest to guard in his time at KU, can’t remember the kids name but he dropped 30 in AFH in a loss albeit. Remember Mason was almost a Towson player, most good mid majors have a few players that someone over looked because of height, build or something small. SDSU will prob be a 13 or 14 seed so it’s good to play a team like them. This team could be compared to the ORU, Richmond or Nevada teams that have beat us, they have good coaching and experience. I think we will win but I bet it’s not a 30 point beat down especially if Billy is still out, which at this point no news probably means no change in his status. I see it being a close game early but we win with a second half run by 12-18 points. Never over look an opponent in this day and age. Anyone can beat anyone on a given night.

Daum is going to be an interesting matchup. Not sure who they’ll put on him. Udoka can’t guard him on the perimeter, but not sure anyone else can handle him in the post.

Daum is damn good, he would be starting for most every team in the country except for very few. A very dangerous game that will test KU.

Looking at SDSU’s first three games, they basically give 6 guys the majority of minutes. Baum, Theissen and Tellinghuisen are their bigs. Doesn’t appear Baum does much on the offensive boards. Looks like they’re strong on the defensive glass, but not so much on offensive boards, leaving one guy to clean it up.
Their guard scoring is almost all through David Jenkins, 6’2” freshman.
Attendance has been as low as 1,248 and as high as 2,669 for their 3 home games.
Should be an interesting experience for them…

Actually, since Bird went to Indiana State, it is an apt comparison. He opted out of Indiana, though Knight (yeah, I call him that–no “Coach” unless coaching, for me) wanted him. Unsure if Daum had other options.

His profile on some sites lists SDSU as his only offer but he probably had other offers. None would have been power programs of course.

Players like Daum make rankings of HS kids seem awful overrated. He averaged 25 a game last season as a sophomore and had 1 offer! There are not many programs in D-1 that wouldn’t bend over backwards to have him in their lineup.

Earlier today KU showed up as being on ESPN3, now it is no longer listed. Any ideas? i’m not close enough to KC to get 38 and cable one would rather give me oklahoma channels then kansas city

@Kubie I just checked mine and it appeared to be missing here too, but it’s currently “live”, just click Load more events and there it was for me. Hope this helps! The stream is currently just ESPN’s “this event will start soon” message.

@Kubie if you have the ability, use a VPN app on your phone, or program on your computer, (I use Betternet on my phone, it’s free, you just have to deal with ads when setting it up) and stream my phone through my Apple TV.

I believe Channel 38 is in Lawrence and I don’t get it in the KC area since I have my antenna pointed in the othre direction where just about all the other station in the KC Metro area are located.
By the way, it will only broadcast 4 mens’s games and 4 women’s games. You are probably better off getting something like Sling TV for the duration of the season.

I have hulu live, the problem is i live in Kansas so ESPN3 is blacked out, unless I go the VPN route. Only one cable service and it’s no help so I either cheat, or don’t watch
