KU Commits Stats, Tweets, Highlights Etc...

32 and 20 pts in the games yesterday. College Park lost both.
-
Sounds like Grimes team isn’t that great.
Having to sit through Q’s painful pre-commit video it was clear it was Grimes and a bunch of dudes on his team
-
Pretty normal high school situation. The only other player that will play beyond HS is going to a Kansas JUCO.
-
Grimes had 27 points in a win last night. Back to playing TX HS competition.
-
poster on phog went to the game, said he had to sit most of the 3rd with fouls. Took over the 4th for the win. Everyone that see’s him has given a glowing report
-
Devon scored 23 for his teams 1st game over in China, did pretty well even though they lost - played the same organization they said that got into the brawl with George town in 2011 - - Bayi Rockers , still had a pretty decent game. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Devon and RJ Barrett going to square off Tomorrow for the championship in China. - -Wonder if they will run across Li Angelo or La Melo Ball lol. - -Anyways now being serious, they are matching up for the Championship tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.
Devon had a pretty damn good game scoring 33 points , 7 rebounds and 6 assists not a bad nights work - wishing you the best Devon let’s do this - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Markese Jacobs 18 pts, 11 asts and 4 steals last game.
Grimes 24 points a couple days ago in a blowout win.
-
I was bummed when Grimes said he likely won’t be playing with Markese. I hope he shows out if he’s gonna be an oad.

I hear ya. I don’t think he is totally opposed to staying 2 years if need be. However even if he did stay, he wouldn’t see the court too much with Markese. Markese is likely a kid that doesn’t play too much as a FR. Barring rapid development anyway.
-
Markese 23 Pts, 4 Ast, 3 Stl
-
Dotson went for 29/10/7 today.
Grimes dropped 37 and did a thing.
-
Grimes is filthy.

He also had a 360 dunk in this game.
-
He’s Grimey.
-
Optimus Prime Grimes!
-
Someone should have told that kid not to jump. That was an error in judgment.
-
Dotson didn’t have the best game scoring 17 points on 5-16 shooting (7-11 from the line) 8 boards and 4 assists but his team won a rematch against a loaded Cox Mill team that includes 2018 UNC commit Rechon Black and 2019 UNC deathlock Wendell Moore Jr.
Moore is very, very good. UK and the good guys have offered and visited him but I don’t see him leaving North Carolina. UK wasn’t in his top 10 and still sent a coach recently, that’s how good he is.
-
Devon does have a couple of D1-ish team mates. One is committed to Santa Clara and the other has offers from Drexel, Presbyterian etc…
-
@justanotherfan Maybe he wanted to be on a poster? Wrong side, but still a kids gotta have dreams. Lol
-
Silvio and IMG took it to Bol Bol and Findlay Prep. Bol only took 3 shots!
-
Silvio will go up against Big Dave in the final. Game starts in 6 minutes, not sure if there is a stream.
-
That is one short handed IMG Academy rotation, 12 minutes and 2 point from the only non-starter.
-
Silvio had 25 and 11. Oak Hill won by 2: http://s3.amazonaws.com/vnn-aws-sites/9511/files/2017/12/5947d3f1c6bfdde5-Game-30-National-Division-Championship-Game-IMG-Academy-vs-Oak-Hill.pdf
Devon Dotson had 28 pts and 10 reb and Providence Day won the other final: http://s3.amazonaws.com/vnn-aws-sites/9511/files/2017/12/84eb17f04259a0cf-Game-31-American-Division-Championship-Game-Providence-Day-vs.-Gray-Collegiate.pdf

Thanks for the links, great information. IMG will really miss Silvio. Looks like all 3 KU signees had double doubles.
-
Sure thing. I know many people are interested but don’t want to go looking for this stuff. Happy to help.

Silvio and Dotson both won awards
-
2 MVPs, awesome. KU’s 2018 class is scary good. Thanks again for the links.

Will Vick, Newman, Preston and Dok hang around to play with these newcomers? If 3 of the 4 do return, O Boy!

Think you can almost take it to the bank that - - Vick & Preston will not be back/ If Vick continues to progress through out the year, just don’t think he will be back. Preston, I mean ya will him sitting out so long this year - -he could come back but - -will he? - -seriously doubt it
Newman? - -there is no way at this point is he ready for the NBA, - -BUT doesn’t mean he will be back here… I think if nothing else - -he goes over sea’s and plays and see in a couple of years about testing the NBA.
Thinking Dok - -who knows. A couple of weeks ago I would of leaned more of him coming back, NOW with the way he has played the last 3 games looks like he is trending upwards in his progress I know we will here from people - - well none of these guys are even on projected draft boards. Hide and watch - -before it’s said and done Vick’s name will be there, actually YES it is on some projected boards already, I haven’t looked myself but others have said he was.
As you know, we have heard the NBA drafts a lot off potential also. With Dok’s physical presence there are a lot of NBA that would take a chance if he continues to improve that will take that chance , if nothing else because of his physical stature and potential. Dok is probably the most interesting out of these four I think.
The thing is even in I guess perfect scenario if you wanna call it that, there is no way ALL 4 of these guys would/could return, there just is not enough room available on the roster with the guys we have coming in and what we have returning. Just got to believe and he has made mention about how many we could be possibly be losing after this year - -but you just got to believe this was in the pitch when Coach Self was on the recruiting trail this year to some kind of degree anyways, I’m sure he was asked even a little about his thoughts on returning players from this squad. You just got to think possible this was brought pup when the recruitment of McCormack & De Sousa - - If they thought Dok was coming back it could of very well discouraged them with signing - - with him coming back and the Lawson’s the front court is going to be deep. – Both Lawson’s - -De Sousa - -McCormick – Lightfoot. - -There is a chance for Dok - -not saying there is not for sure.
I just think almost sure bets is Newman & Preston for sure will not be back - & Vick not to far behind that - - Dok is probably the best shot of any of the four coming back I think - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Doke needs one more year to learn basketball fundamentals and improve his athleticism. I would be shocked if Preston comes, back; in fact, he might bolt if he is not cleared by the time the Spring Semester starts. Newman’s plan (and his dad) has always been to be playing for money next season; at this point the NBA is not within reach so overseas is the more likely destination.
-
@jayballer54 I’m sending word to Dok that if he does not become a lottery pick by June, and I mean a high lottery pick like top 7-10 guaranteed, then he definitely should stay in Lawrence until May 2019. He could yet become a top 4 pick, once his play smooths and his free throw shooting stabilizes. We’re talking about the difference in mucho millions of dollar bills. As for Newman, he and Dad must be squirming. If Self works either Preston or DeSousa into his lineups, I think Newman’s scoring will climb statistically. Right now he is rebounding, learning to focus on improved defense, passing the ball. He might play overseas next season if they are in a rush to earn dollars; but I think it would behoove him to stick around, even if he eventually should become a key 6th man. With all these new extremely talented recruits on next season’s horizon, we will need experienced guys to settle the mix.

Strongly agree with all of this. Doke as a JR would be pretty beast too…

After his 44 point outburst Grimes had 33 and 39 point games in the same tournament.

Phenom Hoop Report
@Phenom_Hoops 17h17 hours ago More 6’2 '18 Devon Dotson (Providence Day/Kansas) had 35 points, 11 rebounds in win vs. Neumann-Goretti (PA) at the Hoodies House Tourney.
-
Grimes had 19 as his team lost by 2 in the runner up game at their recent tournament. Probably tired from scoring so much in three games yesterday.
-
Big Dave 19 and 10 today.
-
Grimes 23/9/9.
-
-
He had 41 pts and 11 reb in that game.
-
Markese had 18 pts in a 71-53 win for Uplift last night.
-
I love this kid’s swag. He is going to be Mason 2.0, or Reborn, or something. You name it, and it appears he will be pretty much what we need over the next year or two. Even Self himself, made the bold comparison to Collins, and Mason. I believe he is as tough/er than either other guard, and is equally talented, if not better. I’m really excited for this get.
Does anyone see a slight possibility of a redshirt for either Dotson or Markese? It’s an interesting dilemma. Is it possible with Big Dave McCormack coming we could be a F4 contender for the next 1-3 years?
-
@BShark This is obviously a rising star playing among average to below average HS talent. But 41 pts is sick. I always temper those numbers a bit as they enter D1 elite play. But Young has proven a young frosh pg can make an immediate impact. The biggest part of Young’s game is his IQ. It actually promotes his other obvious talents.
-
@hawkmoon2020 Optimus is right. This kid is going to be the cornerstone of the team. We’ve all been so focused on this year’s drama, it’s been hard to peek into next year.
Think about it…Dotson, Grimes, and McCormack? And this is just to name a few…add DeSousa, and the slight chance that Doke stays…YIKES.

Markese doesn’t come until 2 years from now. He still might redshirt though.
Dotson will not redshirt he will be the starting PG next year.

Grimes has really good vision and PG skills for his size. I think he could be a better version/what we were hoping for Selden. I don’t think he at at the level of Young but he will also have more talent around him.

I think McCormack won’t really contribute until year 2 and will be a great two way player year 3 and 4.

Next year is going to be so exciting. Dotson, Grimes, and McCormack? DeSousa? Sick. We even have an ever so slight chance of Doke for 1 more year? Also, I’m more convinced that we have a really good chance at Romeo. I’m almost convinced that he is in fact waiting on Vick. I really believe that if he was ready to commit to his top choice, he would’ve done it. I think he likes what is shaping in Lawrence next year.
Grimes will be the cornerstone. Dotson will be the leader of the pack. Big Dave and DeSousa will be huge in the lane. If Doke returns for 1 more little year, I think we just might be unstoppable.
Add Garrett’s enormous experience as a soph, and it’s going to be too FUN. I really wish to say more about Billy, but it’s too hard to tell right now.

Dotson might be a little wild at first like Frank but I think he will be a hell of a PG by the time it is all said and done. The one thing Dotson really needs to do is work on his jump shot. I think in fact that his jumper is what keeps him in Lawrence for multiple seasons. The good thing there is he will be surrounded by decent shooters (except Garrett) especially if KU gets Romeo who is a walking three point bucket. Drive and dish, drive and dish.
Doke coming back would be incredible.

@BShark The one advantage for DeSousa this year is that it will pay huge dividends for next year.
All I know is we deserve a break after this crazy year.

Absolutely. He will be much more ready to go and understand the schemes.
