Whatever became of cleaning up shoe bribery allegations in college basketball?
-
Oh, I see…you mean the hypothesized embargo, right?
Here’s a routine for you…
100 Did we sign an OAD pg? If yes, go to 200, else go to 500
200 Did he come from an imploding program like Louisville? If no, go to 300, else go to 500
300 When I see him on the floor playing, go to 400, else go to 500
400 Hypothesized embargo at pg refuted and go to 600
500 Hypthesized embargo supported and go to 600
600 Stop
-
Now where did the clean up of alleged petroshoeco bribery in college basketball go?
-
What is the latest status on the hypothesized OAD embargo at the 5?
-
PG DevDot has 5 stars; that’s a chip in hypothesized embargo.
Did he decommit from anywhere?
Now, at 6-1, is he an OAD?
-
6’2’’
Did not decommit from anywhere. KU targeted him early, and ended up getting their guy.
Very likely not OAD. Which is a good thing imo.
-
I am not a pure embargo guy, but in the learning stages. Dotson is bit higher than Devonte Graham (37). Dotson isn’t an OAD. Not really even whispers of that. Not seeing him in 2019 NBA mocks. Not even 2nd round. So I’d the embargo scenario stands.
My hesitancy on the embargo thing is that we’ve never popped a presumed OAD PG – adidas, pre-adidas or even pre-Nike. Maybe that proves it? I don’t know. I’m more intrigued by the lack of a presumed OAD center of domestic origin over the last number of years
-
@jaybate-1-0 Ah, fail by me. I thought the embargo was for 5 star PGs and Ctrs. Didn’t know it applied to OADs only. Gotta keep up on these hypothetical nonconspiracy things better!

Not OAD but a top 4 (3 maybe) PG in this class. I like him more than Quickley but I’m SLIGHTLY BIASED. I think Tre Jones and Darius Garland might be a cut above in this class. Quickley will be OAD anyway because Kentucky.
-
@mayjay Well, maybe you’re right. I always thought he meant the OAD types, based on the names referenced. But I could be wrong. I think the hypothetical non-conpiracy theorist himself should clarify.
@BShark I’m just glad we got a PG. This is a pretty stud class so far. Given that we lose Svi and Graham, and likely Newman (though not a guarantee), I want more.
-
@HighEliteMajor Agree. KU really needed a PG. Now Moore can be a very good back-up.
Also I think you will get your wish of more. The staff wants all of Grimes, Langford and Zion. Not sure they can pull that but 2/3 is possible and I’d almost bet for sure on 1/3.

Wasn’t Selby a point guard? Underwhelming OAD.

2G that thought he was a point.

I’ve always meant to hypothesize the apparent embargo based on no 5-star OADS at PG being signed and hypothesized it appeared to be expanding to 5 star non OADS.
I’m flex. I like modifying hypotheses to fitted data. That’s the whole point of making hypotheses.
Hypothesis: it appears there has been an embargo on 5-star OAD signings at KU.
Don’t know how. Don’t know why. Only referring to appearances, not realities. Don’t know what the rumored Persona software generated aliases say. Don’t even know if there are any such things.
There, that was easy.
You’ll have to get over thinking I have an agenda, or an interest in being right. There’s no gotcha here. I hope there is no embargo. I hope Harvey Weinstein is innocent. I hope Fox is wrong about child trafficking surrfacing soon in Hollywood. I hope child sex trafficing rings in Washington, London and LA are false. I hope the authorities shot the lone gunman and not a patsy in Las Vegas. I hope 23 assault rifles can shoot slow enough and long enough to match the acoustics instead of an M-260 belt machine gun some rumors suggest as a better match. I hope the photographic evidence some present indicating crisis actors faking part of the Boston Marathon Bombings are fake. I hope the Murrah building blew from Tim’s fertilizer and not a blast from internal charges. I hope the airlines weren’t shorted shortly before 9/11 and the University of Alaska Fairbanks is wrong about the 2 planes not being able to make the three towers fall in their footprints. Heck! I hope Lee fresh from fake defector program was the only shooter in Dallas and didn’t know Ruby the gun runner, and Ernst Stavro Gault, er, James Earl Ray, was the lone guy in Memphis despite the King family proving a conspiracy in civil court, and i hope Sirhan had no handlers and was not under mind control.
On the other hand, I don’t care what the truth is. I just hope for it to be discovered and taught to our kids some day.
One thing appears for likely, despite the King family proving conspiracy in Memphis. Most conspiracies appear probably for suckers! In a national security state like ours has reputedly been, since the National Security Act of 1947, it appears secrecy makes conspiracy largely superfluous in many cases. Who needs to conspire about things, if classifying and compartmentalizing can keep activities from being known, right?
I don’t know. It’s all just so darned complicated. Who knows? Maybe we’ll never know why KU appears to have such a tough time signing an 5-star OAD PG. Maybe it’s microwave activity in Kansas. Or too much wheat chaff. Or maybe it’s the Secret Societies. Or inter dimensional aliens. Or the Campanile. Or not enough 32rd degree Masons from KU. Or Phog’s ghost is scaring them away. Or maybe Self thinks “the spacing” would be all wrong with a 5-star OAD at PG. What the heck! The guys at CERN refuted the locality assumption and verified quantum entanglement. Maybe 5-star OAD PGs are just not quantum entangled with KU!
Rock Chalk!

@jaybate-1.0 247, ESPN, Scout, Draftexpress. Rivals does say 6’1’’, maybe they need to update. He’s good either way.
-
The height doesn’t matter much to me, regardless. 6-1, or 6-2 just doesn’t make very much difference. Whatever his true height, he will grow at KU, even if he were not to grow.
And I’m glad we signed a point guard. We needed one.
And I hope someday we sign a 5-star OAD.

You mean one like Wiggins or Embiid or Josh Jackson or Diallo or Oubre or Alexander…? All 5-Star OADs…
-
@JayHawkFanToo You can’t forget the caveats. Has to be a 5* OAD PG or 5* OAD DOMESTIC C.
-
The hypothesis some seem frustrated with being unable to refute fully so far appears about as elegant as it can be until you, or someone else fits more data to it.
Is 5-star Devon Dotson the #1 or #2 ranked point guard on most of the rankings?
Is he projected as an OAD?
Am I missing something?
Or are those frustrated at failing to refute the hypothesis so far missing something?
-
Frustrated is too strong a word. It’s amusing.

This is @fun. I want +*play. My name &is Personabate 1.0.
No, as always, I mean $his at the 1, or 5.
I have no #idea aliases was going become so Fruit-of-Loom wadded and ?frustrated about D€evon Dotson¥ not refuting the hypothesi$ of a embargo€ on KU re£cruitment of 5star* OADS at the {1 and ¥5.
I not &recall hypothesizing an embargo# at the 2,^3, or Fore.

Somebody spilled a drink on jaybates keyboard.

No, that was performance art–an edifying emulation of the bots emulating aliases.
Ah, but you knew THAT!

@jaybate-1.0 S’all good jb. I enjoyed it. Laughed.
