Just declare, Josh! (...that you're coming back!)

  • I can’t figure out why he hasn’t declared. I know there was more news today about his inattentive driving case, on top of his other deal with the gal in her car, but seriously, why doesn’t he just declare? Hasn’t everyone else?

Also, this pic of him walking out of the courthouse with his attorney and his mom…made me think of Will with Uncle Phil and Aunt Vivian lol

  • Well I think MAYBE one possible scenario like I stated the other day and talked with some others is that could be possibly, that he has just been so involved with these legal things going on that he really has had his mind on others things - -getting these things behind him, I’m not saying that IS the case - -but could be possibly.

There had been some other rumblings rumor from a few that his Mother REALLY wanted to see him get his education, which would mean ya he comes back - -but ummm don’t really see that, the kid is a lottery pick - -can’t go much more, seen he is worst like a 3rd pick He has till the 23rd to do declare - -would love to see him back - -but I just can’t see it, but am living a fantasy about it happening lol - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • If Mom is calling the shots, and wants him to stay at KU to get an education, then he would have said he’s staying at KU by now. As a lotto pick or even a top 10 pick, there’s a 99% chance he’s gone. Good luck, Josh. Represent!!

  • Yeah, he’s gone you guys. top 3 pick in the draft. I’m betting he just wanted to get all this legal stuff taken care of first. Let his mind clear a bit then make his choice public.

Josh had a better season at KU than Wiggins did. He’s gone. He should be!

  • I already miss JJ. He was a joy to watch.

  • My bet he is wanting to get the legal stuff finalized before declaring.

  • My bet is, by the look on mom’s face, he needs to take care of his legal crap💩 And get the heck out of dodge-Lawrence! I just hope she doesn’t hate KU due to this 💩

  • @hawkmoon2020 Ya he really has nothing to gain by coming back. - -Like I said through the year the worst I saw him drafted was a 3rd pick - -Lottery. - -Why take a chance when coming back, and possible injury. - -Sure was nice to watch him play. he is going to be a very solid NBA player. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • How much insurance can he get if he’d decide to stay?

  • @Fightsongwriter yeah man. Me too.

@Crimsonorblue22 Cant hate Lawrence and Self over this. Same kind of stuff will be available when Josh is making millions. She may not care much for LV.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 Why would she hate KU? That would be irrational.

  • @Crimsonorblue22

The NCAA has the Exceptional Student-Athlete Disability Insurance program that provides insurance up to a limit of $5M depending on the projected draft position of the individual athlete. Obviously Josh would qualify for the top limit but the cost is about $30K per year that the NCAA will finance but the interest rate is high and the policy pays only in case of a career ending injury. Students can get additional insurance on their own but the cost is extremely high.

His best option is to get drafted and get a guaranteed contract.

  • @JayHawkFanToo I was thinking embiid had insurance and received a payment, no?

  • @Crimsonorblue22

I am not sure he had a policy through the NCAA, his was probably through the 76ers.

  • @JayHawkFanToo can’t remember for sure. Think it was before he was drafted, maybe not.

  • Self said KU paid for policies on both Embiid and Wiggins. I wouldn’t doubt there already was one in place for Josh, but I haven’t heard one way or the other.

  • So… uh… Josh… if you are reading this…

Your one season was great and you are already a Jayhawk for life!

If you want to have your jersey retired in the rafters with Wilt and the basketball Gods… you best come back for one more year and win a National Championship!

That would guarantee your basketball immortality and legend status forever!

    Somethings money can’t buy!

  • @dylans did embiid’s pay out?

  • @Crimsonorblue22 I don’t recall, but I doubt it since he was drafted 3rd and didn’t miss out on any money.

  • @dylans but he was injured

  • @Crimsonorblue22 He was insured for loss of income. It’s not like a civil suit. The policies are weird and I dont’ know all the details.

  • @dylans you need to find this out!🕵️

  • @crimsonorblue22

What’s more interesting about this particular report is a nugget explaining how Embiid has a personal insurance policy that he signed while still at Kansas. In the unlikely event he decides to give up basketball entirely by November, he’ll be paid $5 million tax-free. Or, if the injuries continue to prevent him from playing at least 20 NBA games in total throughout his career, he can also collect on this particular policy.

  • @dylans maybe that was it?

  • Philadelphia had a policy that they wanted paid on since Embiid didn’t play a lick his first two seasons. He was paid $9 million for his services. They wanted recouped, but it didn’t happen for them either.

Insurance rarely leaves you feeling properly compensated in my opinion.
