The suspense!!!
-
Holiday time with the kids and family. My nieces and nephews around for the short time they are. There’s nothing topping that. But the madness? Ya there’s nothing besides the former of the two that compares. Atleast not since the dirt show is over
-
Classic good v. Evil. Easy choice.
-
I have been trying to decide who to root for in this game and I decided to go with the in-state and conference team although it will not hurt my feelings if Wake Forest wins. The Big 12 and the ACC have been the top 2 conferences for the last few years and a win by KSU helps the conference and by extension KU. Also, the more games the more money the conference gets,…about $1.7M per win, not exactly chump change.
-
I’m afraid that KState chant has converted this KU fan - who typically supported the state schools whenever KU was not involved – into a Wake Forest fan for at least one game. Go Danny!
BTW, this officially marks my split from any major school in KS other than KU. Wichita State alienated me a couple years ago.
-
@ralster Sorry, I just got to pull for Danny. - -I’m usually all about pulling for ALL the Big 12 when we get to post season, just makes our league look that much better. - -But not this time, not when it’s Danny. - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Big 12 homer here. I love Danny and hope he wins every game as a coach, except against Big 12 schools. RCJH and BIG 12.
-
Get off of the court, Weber. This is getting old. Wake needs to run a big down the sideline to physically remove Weber from the court…
-
Danny and the Deacons are within striking distance. Watch him out coach Weber.
-
Wake better wake the hell up.
-
I’m expecting some adjustments from Danny that change the game.
-
Danny all the way. Well, at least til they play us whenever that is.
-
Wake just missed a huge chance there, missed FTS and bunnies.
-
Deacons
-
Remember in 1988 Danny went to the line and Ed Manning yelled, “Settle down Danny”
Maybe Danny needs to tell his team to settle down. They can win this game.
-
Looks like KSU is gonna pull away here.
-
I don’t think I’ve seen Wake make a three yet. Horrible shooting.
-
@chriz their defense is a joke.
-
How in the eff was that a flagrant 1?
-
Wake relies way too much on the trey.
-
Well I wanted Wake to win the game, but if there’s a silver lining it’s that a Big12 team advances and an ACC team is eliminated. Big12 now 7-1 against the best conference in the country.
-
Hope this game isn’t an indication of how fouls will be called this tournament. What a chopped up game.
Any other time I’d like to see Manning win. But the big 12 is desperate for a good tourney showing.
I think they’ll get past Cincy.
-
KSuck out played Wake the last 5 minutes of the game. Wake lost this in the last 5 minutes. They pulled within 1-2, but just couldn’t maintain. Wake so close.
-
@truehawk93 Kansas State outplayed them the entire game. Never trailed. dominated the paint. No defensive adjustments.
-
KSU wins one for the Big 12 over the ACC.
-
Good thing is the B12 gets a win, hopefully a good sign. KSU fans already blowing up social media like it’s the NC.
-
@kjayhawks and they win bruce another year!!!
-
This is KSUs Play Hard Chart NC! They should have cut down the nets as their season is likely over.
-
@StLJhawk As much as we give Weber shit about playing hard, its a big thing this time of year, you can’t take possessions off. I wish all of our guys played hard, sometimes I think its just Mason and LL. It will take effort from every soul on this team to make a title run IMO.
-
@kjayhawks yep. Frank and Landen have “senior urgency” like what Perry did.
-
@kjayhawks I couldn’t believe the Wake defense or what was supposedly a defense.
-
@Blown Ok, ok, ok…I feel your B12 pain. However, let’s not forget we need Danny Manning to continue his upward improvement as a head coach, so call me anti-B12 or just pro-Danny Manning, but he just may be the heir apparent to Bill Self. Maybe I’m too idealistic. But look at Danny Manning’s progress. It’s been much shorter than Self’s and his impact at Tulsa and now Wake is extremely notable. He’s flying under the radar and is horribly under rated. Let’s see what Danny Manning does with Wake over the next 2-3 years.
Also, keep in mind Dook might be looking for a new competent, experienced head coach. Unfortunately, I’m not sure what the ACC inter conference coaching policy might be, but Cuse is also looking for a great coach to lead the program after Boeheim retires.
KState might even give pause to Manning, not much, but his name may be brought up in discussions. Danny Manning will likely land at a Blue Blood (UK?). Why not his alma mater? The timing is a little tight because there is not much age difference between Self (1962) and Manning (1966). We’ve all talked about the possibility of Self jumping to the LEAGUE. Let’s say I’m rooting for DMan and wish the best for him.
If it’s any consolation, I was rooting for DMan, but glad the B12 had a great showing. I just don’t want to give too much credit to the purple coach. Fair? Ok. BTW, Manning has a very special place in my heart. They won the NC in 1988, my sophomore year. So, forgive me if I root for the man or coach, not the team as much.
-
Not likely. Manning is only 4 years younger than Coach Self and by the time Coach Self is getting ready to retire Danny will be not too far behind. Because of his NBA career, Danny started coaching fairly late, compared other top coaches and spent a long time as an assistant coach and by the time he has enough gravitas he will be close to retirement age. Given the circumstances, Danny’s best path is probably to build his legacy at Wake Forest where he seems to be making good progress.
-
@JayHawkFanToo Here’s a possibility. Self goes to the league and brings Manning with him? But you’re right, Manning may want to remain at Wake and build that legacy.
-
@JayHawkFanToo I’m just talking or telling tales out of school, but my NBA dream coaching staff would be…
Bill Self
Danny Manning
Billy GIllespie
Norm Roberts
Kurtis Townsend would likely land at a great program.
Snacks would do fairly well at a strong Mid-Major.
I’m typing out loud. But this would be my NBA coaching staff of the year.
-
I think the coaching personalities needed for the NBA are quite different than those for college. In college assistant coaches tell the players what to do and they do it. In the NBA assistants suggest to the players what to do and players, who all make more money than the coaches, tell them if they feel like doing it…or not.
