KU Buckets Bracket Challenge!
-
Ladies and brothers from other mothers, without further adieu, KU Buckets Bracket Challenge group is here!
No limit on # of brackets.
Only your dignity on the line.
Good luck! Last one to pick Duke to be eliminated is a rotten egg.
EDIT: DUE TO GROSS MISMANAGEMENT BY APPROXINFINITY… This year’s brackets have been split across two groups, KUBuckets East and KUBuckets West
-
Kansas, UNC, Villanova, Arizona in the Final Four with Kansas over Nova for the title.

-
@Texas-Hawk-10 That;s the matchup I had in the bracket I made earlier
-
It’s highly unlikely 3 one seeds make it but oh well
-
who won this last year?
-
@Jayrawks1 serious? Nova last second shot over unc who had a what looked like a final winning shot
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I meant who won the bracket challenge
-
@Jayrawks1 duh. Sorry
-
@Jayrawks1 Brollwagon23… I’m not sure who that is

I loathe the bracket for it is a series of decisions where I use emotion over logic every time and has worked out for me less than 7% of the time.
-
My bracket usually turns out ok, but I cease to care if KU loses. Like last season my bracket was sitting in 1st place then KU lost and I couldn’t tell you where it finished. Don’t care. Once KU’s season is over, unless there is a parade to look forward to, it’s on to the next year.
-
@Blown I have never done a bracket or bet on games, but if I did I would try to be “anti-emotional”. I would try to figure out who else was being emotional and bet against them.
That is why i don’t bet on KU: too many fans voting for KU push the line in the wrong direction, so the tactical move would be to bet against.
It would be terrific to know what teams over the years have won or lost the most money to those who bet on them. I suppose it should be public knowledge what teams have done best or worst against the spread?
-
I picked against KU here last year and seemed to never hear the end of it from some folks.
-
Ah the bracket. The great equalizer. Where you can tell others that their opinion is crap and facts back it up later. Where great orators go to put it on the line and fail time and time again. Can’t talk your way in circles across a bracket. It’s win or lose baby!
If you don’t fill out a KUBuckets bracket you lack the fortitude to back up your predictions. Makes you more of a politician than the everyday heroes I look up to. You don’t have to win or even do well, just stick your neck out; that’ll make you the winner.
So get out there and prove yourself right, me wrong, or whatever motivates ya!
-
@dylans I am a politician. Guess I know where I stand with you!
Edit: Let’s go with elected official. Sounds better.
-
Logic does not end in choosing KU to win this tournament. No team like KU has won this tournament since I can recall. The 2011 UConn team the closest I can come up with.
More than any year since 2003, an injury changes quite a bit (Simien) for KU. But that was quite a run (thanks Jeff Graves).
We might have the same record with Udoka on board, but I bet we would have won differently, and we’d be a more complete team going into the tourney.
EDIT: I edited “does” to “does not” – pretty important typo.
-
Well, think I’m set. - - -ELEVEN different bracket challenges, & 32 entries and won’t win squat lmao. - -Last count I saw for the ESPN bracket challenge was like 8 million and something like 200,000, ya I’ve got a shot lmao. rock chalk all day long baby
-
@Blown If that’s how you look at yourself. Yes career politicians are so far removed from reality to be serviceable as human beings. I was speaking more figuratively though.
I was asked to throw my name in the hat and ended up as a city councilman. I didn’t ask for a vote not have I compromised, I don’t look to advance a career in government. I’m not a politician, just a worker asked to perform a civic duty.
-
@dylans then we are one in the same in that regard
I completed a bracket after succumbing to your adept persuasion tactics.
I refuse to pick against Kansas though.
-
@Blown I usually fill out a few. In one I remove KU as an option and arbitrarily have them lose a game to see how I would pick withou KUs influence. I hate that bracket…
-
I heard somebody talking about brackets the other day and they said they never fill one out. It adds unnecessary stress to the event and disallowed him from simply enjoying each game as they were in happening in that moment.
-
@HighEliteMajor 2014 UConn Huskies? Villanova last year? Those three are pretty similar to our team. I still won’t pick them to win it all, but this team isnt really physically different.
-
@Blown Interesting, I don’t too stress over my brackets unless like last year if UNC won I won $500 but I fill out several brackets, none of which are the same (I maybe sucking it up in one but doing good in the other). That’s one other mistake people make when they enter in several, they pick mostly the same exact teams. I have brackets that could be busted tonight, others that play it pretty safe. I’ve won contests picking both ways, half of it is just picking the right upset.
-
@dylans I don’t think he was referring to ribbing from friends. I think he was referring to just being at peace while he watched the games for what they are and not worrying about whether or not he got his bracket picks correct. Kind of an Eckhart Tolle approach, maybe.
-
I entered the group. My FF is Zona, Nova, Louisville, UK. Got Nova over UK for the ship.
Got us going out to Miami second game. ISU/UL EE game in our region.
-
@BShark Thanks for sharing.
-
I am considering not doing any bracket this year, it takes away some of the fun but a lot of stress as well.
-
Been watch ESPN most of the day - -NINE AND A HALF MILLON entries as of right now - - crazy. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
@jayballer54 half million are yours?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 lmao, well quite a few anyways lol. - - So does that mean I win 1/2 million dollars lol. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Any time. I would assume most have KU winning the NC.
-
@JayHawkFanToo Interesting, I’ve had the same thoughts. I’m not doing one at all, first time in like forever. Not sure why, but just a strange feeling I don’t need to waste the normal ten minutes I’d take to fill it out. This way I/we can tell people we haven’t gotten any games wrong so far.
-
Sorry…I broke down and against my better judgement filled a couple of brackets on the KU Buckets group…I know, I am asking for stress…Dang March Madness.
-
@JayHawkFanToo OK, I’ll join too because I still kind of want to do it. I’ve only done one bracket on the KU thing so I feel like it’s kind of unfair (and it matters not a bit) because some fill out 8. I guarantee if I filled out 8, I’d occupy the last 8 spots in the contest!
-
So I watched the purple kitties win last night. Both teams were ranked as 11-seeds.
How does that happen? How are these teams ranked higher than other teams but in the play-in games?
Another thing… How come all the play-in teams are not stuck playing #1 seeds if they win?
-
@drgnslayr agree it feels contradictory to how the bracket should work. But I guess a lot of the autobids aren’t as good as middle of the pack in the major conferences?
-
They changed the rule awhile back to require the last 4 at-large teams to go to the play-in round. Everyone thought that it was unfair when 8 autobid teams had to go through Dayton after having earned their presence in the tournament. The seeding still represents the perceived strength of the at-large teams over the auto bid teams.
I like the idea of dropping at-large teams to #16, but doesn’t that punish the #1 seeds?
-
I like filling out a bracket so I have somebody to root for in games I don’t really care about. As long as KU is still playing, I really don’t care how bad my bracket is doing. If it does well, that’s cool. Makes me look smart. Or just lucky. If my bracket does poorly, at least I participated. Seems collegial in a group like this. And since KU is still playing, that’s really all that matters.
If/when KU loses, I quit watching the tournament or paying attention to my bracket. I just sulk and pout. So I might as well pick KU to go all the way, every year. Rock Chalk!
-
No bracket this year. First time since 1988. At least this year I am not already dejected about my chances of winning 3 hours into the tourney!
-
All right @jayballer54 here’s your #1 ESPN bracket for Ya! Hurry up and look before it gets messed up! Haha
-
@dylans lol, hell ya. - -I’ve got like 7 entries into the ESPN challenge - -I got 100% on one of them & 93 % on another and the others are pile do doo lol - -good job my friend. - - Thank goodness I didn’t spend any money on any of these lol…- - One thing I’ll say so far is - -I hope The guys, And coach is making sure, that they pay attention - -a lot of these lower seeds are playing tough -we better be ready, as you can see. - -Just look at Villanova , up 1 at half – Norte Dame wins by two and then others - -Good luck my friend hope your luck continues lol. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
