Funny photo of Grayson Allen. Yet another one of his hacks that he got away with.
He’s a dirty player that gets away with murder. And he will continue to do so until someone playing against him gives him a dose of his own medicine. I loved playing against dirty players like him. Cheap shot him back and he becomes a pussycat. All those guys are the same. Their dirty aggressive play is an overcompensation for the fear of being played with dirty aggression. The dirty aggression is all about power. And when you show you have more power than him, he backs down.
If you want to take him out of a game, cheap shot him. Not something to really hurt him. Just to get his attention and then he will back off and become submissive.
-
@drgnslayr he is the definition of a soft player - reminds me of Marcus Smart. Anyone remember when Kevin Young pushed him at their place? Classic moment
-
@wrwlumpy I’ve done a lot of crazy, stupid crap in my life. Riding that thing at the Stratosphere is not one of them.
-
@nuleafjhawk not for me! Glad they tearing that damn ride down in kc! Or whatever you call it.

I am flying to Vegas on Thursday to go to the game! Rock Chalk!

-
Cheers, my friend!

I miss the Tark… Jerry Tarkanian. He left his mark on D1… challenging the NCAA when very few others would… using high pressure presses and M2M defenses combined with a run-and-gun offense. He definitely had his style of everything, including sucking on towels during games. I imagined him having a spittoon in his office.

Stay on the bus and look at the lights. This is a business trip.

I made one trip to Vegas. Didn’t waste one penny on the machines. I was at the airport to fly home looking at the machines. I thought what would 1 quarter hurt to gamble? I’m still the only person who went to Vegas and didn’t gamble any of my money! It was an amazing place however. Got to see the bridge over Hoover Dam under construction which was pretty amazing.
-
I haven’t forgot our Kentucky trip.

@wissox I have more than made up for your share. However, many, even perhaps most if you count the kids, people visiting LV these days don’t gamble. Oddly, that is why you can’t find super cheap rooms or bargain buffets in large Strip hotels anymore. A little history:
In the 70s, it was Atlantic City, and then in the 80s through the 90s, Indian casinos started taking away a chunk of LV gambling revenue. So, they started converting the marketing of the town to family entertainment and family friendly mega-resorts like Excalibur, the Mirage, Treasure Island, Luxor, etc, and lots of golf courses being built–all to get the entertainment dollars from non-gamblers, and to get families to bring kids.
In the late 90s and after 2000, the trend of losing gaming revenue continued as Macau became the destination of choice of “whales.” Even more gaudy resorts were built and they innumdated the Strip with luxury hotels like Bellagio, Venetian, Wynn and Encore, followed in 2006-13 by the huge City Center complex.
By this time they realized that family entertainment was a loser in Sin City, so nightclubs to attract the pretty young LA elites became the order of the day, replacing family restaurants and kids video rooms. Magicians were replaced by Broadway. Likewise, the Treasure Island Pirate Battle spectacular out front was converted from a contest against the British ship to a fight against scantily clad temptreses seemingly straight from what used to be just the midnight revues. Bargain show prices designed to get people into the casinos to gamble were replaced by Cirque de Soleil shows and mega-concerts with triple-digit prices. Showrooms have in some places even been taken out of the casinos because the gambling dollars are dwarfed by the ticket and club revenues!
Essentially, Las Vegas–by now collecting about 10% as much gambling revenue as its competitors in Asia and around the States–has now figured out that to survive in this era, you create a “must go/must be seen destination,” charge exorbitant prices for luxury hotels, clubs and restaurants, and stop using rooms and food as loss-leaders for gamblers. And give it all a naughty, Sin City panache encouraging ridiculous self-indulgent spending.
The funny part is that they get to keep all of that money, whereas gaming revenues are only the net after gamblers’ winnings are deducted. And the slogan should be “What comes to Vegas (in your wallet), stays in Vegas.” Before retirement, my wife and I once had a $750 anniversary date that was just dinner (at the Picasso in Bellagio) and a Celine Dion concert. Nary a dollar at the tables.
And buffets 20 years ago were mostly under $10, some under $5. Now, they are almost all over $15 for breakfast and up to $75 for dinner.

The movie Deliverance takes place in Georgia not Kentucky…just sayin’…
-
@JayHawkFanToo joy killer!
-
I’m bummed you don’t have a picture of Sheldon Adelson. He is kind of synonymous with Vegas these days.
-
Bah Humbug…
My “joy” level is not too high at this time of the year, particularly when it gets cold.
When and where I grew up Christmas was primarily a religious, meaningful holiday; now it is a crass commercial celebration and I find it depressing.
-
@JayHawkFanToo thunderstorms possible for Christmas, maybe that will brighten your season
-
-
-
Nope, winter thunderstorms always include ice which I don’t care for…unless it has a few fingers of Scotch surrounding it.
-
@JayHawkFanToo chance of tornados Christmas, honest. Can’t be very high
-
@JayHawkFanToo I’m not a total fan of today’s Christmas either, but i’m trying to be less humbug about it than i have the past several years. I’m sure i’ve been a joy to be around… but - one thing that you can do is be sure and help others that are less fortunate. Pick something from a tree in your local mall so an underprivileged child can have a nice Christmas. Shovel your neighbors’ driveway. Buy a K-State fan a ticket to see a real basketball team play. You know - good stuff like that!!
Merry Christmas!
-
I do my share of community work, I just don’t talk about it otherwise it becomes a quid pro quo.
-
@nuleafjhawk back at you! I know you bless me w/all your funny posts!! Enjoy your family.
-
@JayHawkFanToo I was just saying that, for me, helping others takes a little of the commercialism/fake sting out of Christmas.
-
@nuleafjhawk I know
-
I agree with you 100%.
-
I made my kids feed the homeless in Norfolk, now they make my grandkids feed the homeless in KC.
