They certainly are playing with a “chip!” They take every opportunity to feel slighted. They find every moment they can to use their emotions to up their level of play. It seems to me like they figured something out during that playoff run last year.
Someone on MLB network (I don’t remember who) was commenting about all the drama and compared it to when Tampa Bay came on a few years back. He noted that they were clearing the dugout every game vs. the red sox and others. He likened it to a little brother making sure big brother knows he’s here to stay now.
I kinda liked that comparison. It gives them space even as the returning AL Champs to feel like they have something to prove every game.
Our hawks could take a note or two about the fire it takes to win when it matters (not that it really matters right now for the royals but you get my point).
