One night ONLY: An Iowa St. fan
-
After Saturday’s events which saw KU claw to victory against Texas, OU benefit from terrible officiating, and K-St take out its 2nd big victory in a week in Iowa St. Monday brings a big matchup between OU and ISU. If Iowa St holds serve at home we win the Big 12 with a win Tuesday.
Last week I started the root or “rout” for Baylor Bears thread and we were graced with a victory from them over ISU. This week it’s the opposite we want Iowa St. to win at home against OU and practically eliminate them from any championship hardware.
Everyone knows our last game is at OU on their Senior day and we don’t want to go into Norman with Oklahoma having something to play for. We need the Cyclones to kill those dreams and KU can crown themselves at home. How great would that be for all this team has gone through to beat West Virginia and claim #11 at home. I certainly can’t think of a better situation.
So for One night Only I will half heartedly become a Cyclones fan. Who’s joining me??
-
Go Clowns!!!
-
Hell, I’m a fence jumper!! More than seeing somebody else take care of business, I’d like to see some progress from this team.
-
I like it, you only have to jump for roughly 2 hours. I’m sure Iowa St will be fired up after the week they had in having their title dreams crushed.
-
@BeddieKU23 I am actually with you. With an ISU win, would we not at least clinch a share of the crown on monday?
-
@BeddieKU23 ABSOLUTELY -I will be a huge ISU fan when they play OU tonight.
-
@BeddieKU23 Count me in. An ISU victory and I can start on the Crown 75th tomorrow night and finish it or me off Tues night. Besides that it would be good for mine and @globaljaybird 's hearts. Rock Chalk 'Clones!
-
Are you suggesting you start drinking Monday nite and then just continue straight thru till Tuesday’s game?!?!
-
@VailHawk I’m retired, remember? Besides every other drink is for @Crimsonorblue22 since she don’t drink.
-
Interesting. Not too long ago we all thought we would be cheering for OU to win the game since ISU was nipping at the heels…oh, how things change in a blink of an eye in the Big 12…
-
Yes your are right and nobody thought Iowa St would fall off their face in a week either.
-
Tonight, we are all CLONES…
-
-
For one night, we join the Clone fanbase: ( Clone fan base pictured here)
-
For one night, Fred can be The Mayor and we can all be the City Commission. Sign me up.
-
Go ISU for one night. And hope to see Melvin Weathermax cheering for WVU in Lawrence. HCBS will ask Christian G. To drive for a dunk for the last play in a KU blow out win.
-
I of course will root for the Cyclones tonight only because it favors the Jayhawks, however a part of me would be very happy to see Iowa State lose three straight, two of which came at thier “magical” home court.
Iowa State has become my new personal rival, much like Missouri for the following reasons;
-
They recently claim some kind of Hilton Magic after a few good seasons, I would love to see that magic stomped on tonight while we hopefully have yet another undefeated season at home.
-
It has really gotten on my nerves how the most dry, non humorous coach in the big 12 is now a comedic commercial all-star, the apple of the big 12’s eye (even his wife has cameras follow her on a very boring day and it makes TV). All our coach does is win conference championships, a national title and debatably is the best coach in all of college basketball over the last ten years, somehow that just isn’t fun to cover anymore.
-
The idea that Iowa State takes accomplished players from other teams as transfers and coaches em up on how to play a run and gun offense (of which any player can easily learn) is admonished over coaching up a 4 year player like the rest of the league does is not far from dare I say Calipari-esque?
After writing this…no, no I am not rooting for the Cyclones, I wish them all the fate I once did Missouri! Thank you Iowa State. its always much more fun to despise a good rival.
-
-
so you’d rather not win the Conference outright at home then see Iowa St. hand us the chance on a silver platter. It will be magical if ISU wins tonight and gives our boys a home game to celebrate #11. What’s better than that???
Personal feelings aside about Iowa St. and how much you may dislike them, you root for them to score more points than OU tonight because if Saturday’s game involves OU playing for a share of the title its not a good situation.
-
@BeddieKU23 I can’t stand ISU or ksu, and throw in osu!! I look at it like I really, really want OU to lose! That helps me, sorta like OU’s loss is our gain!
-
I think we dislike most of the good teams in the league these days each time we play them. ISU certainly has become the new Mizzou. K-St lurks around just enough like last week to make us dislike them. OSU just seems to bring that punk mentality out when they play us. Texas has had its spurts of being a rival.
Tonight we put all that aside for the fact that an OU loss =equals the chance for 16,000 fans to light the Fieldhouse up if we win tomm. I can see it being the type of post game atmosphere that inspires and motivates these kids into the tournament. We all know this is a fragile team and needs confidence. What more than bringing #11 home on our own court.
-
@BeddieKU23 and, I will be there and I want to experience that!!! Go lose OU!
-
I root for Ou tonight in the same breath that I root KU wins outright leaving what anyone else does to be nullified.
-
However winning the Big 12 outright tomorrow night at home is also a great thing to root for, so in reality, its a win win tonight for me.

Boomer Losers

Can’t watch it. I really, honestly, wouldn’t be rooting for ISU to win, I’d be rooting for OU to lose. I vowed a few years ago never to watch any sporting event (except the superbowl) just hoping one team would lose. It’s almost always a big waste of unsatisfying time.
I hope OU loses of course. But if I watch it, Niang would flop three or four times and piss me off and then I’d just end up torturing myself like I’m starting to do right now.
-
Can you throw the ball over the hoop and retrieve it yourself without a travel? OU did it. Then a couple of possessions later an obvious double dribble in front of the rec center ref hired by the psuedo-Big 12. Looks like OU has the end with the oversize hoop. We’re not getting much help from ISU.
-
Nice OU flop on the 3 try.
-
Just turned it on…OU up early?
-
@VailHawk ISU forgot how to play
-
@VailHawk So answer me this. An OU player gets rebound on right side of hoop, takes a shot which goes completely over the hoop without touching anything, he steps to the other side and catches it on the way down before it hits the floor. Legal?
-
It used to be a travel but someone told me they changed it to if it was a shot attempt then the shooter can catch it legally
-
@VailHawk Ok.
-
@brooksmd Yes, it’s like throwing the ball over a player or around a player and then retrieving it…it’s a live ball…you can throw it anywhere on the court and retrieve it if the other team is stupid enough to allow you the ball…it’s like playing catch with yourself, just don’t dribble it
-
This HARD cheering for the clowns!
-
@truehawk93 Sounds like legal travel.
-
See, I love the irony of ISU winning and handing us the title. Imagine the conflict among the clone faithful? I wonder of we could buy a ad on their big board to run in the last 10 seconds?
“The Kansas Jayhawks Thank You For Yet Another Title”
-
@HighEliteMajor I’ll chip in $100 for the billboard.
-
PHOF!
-
@brooksmd You can’t walk, but once you pick up your dribble, yes, it’s travel…this is why I’m saying don’t dribble or walk…just throw and catch…just don’t do it with the ball
-
I’ll throw in a fin (still have kids at home)
-
ISU doesn’t seem to care…they’re all good when they’re winning, but they seem like it doesn’t matter…guarantee you if ISU was playing KU it would be a different story
-
@VailHawk As long as ya’ll keep working and the SS keeps flowing I can afford $100.
-
I think ISU could be dead last and no chance of anything, but would show up to play KU…This my friends is the entire B12
-
Nice!
-
Another BS call on ISU.
-
Good grief what is wrong with ISU at home
-
Totally agree! Especially love when teams sell out against us and fans are so passionate then next game arena is half full and lifeless
-
@truehawk93 Think they’ve watched to many KU game tapes.
-
ISU scores!
-
@VailHawk If I didn’t know any better, it appears they don’t want this game and are blowing it on purpose
