they played like a team without its leader and most talented player. The offense isn’t going to be a juggernaut without DP’s greatness.

Somehow i missed this game entirely. Need to get my shit together and begrudgingly renew my espn+ i guess.

Yea, i begrudgingly renewed as well. You fortunately missed really really bad audio. Halting. Stop and start. Annoying as hell. Almost as annoying as Self forgetting every year that you need shooters. Hoping whatever’s up with Dawson resolves itself quickly and he can help.

You can begrudgingly only have to sign up for November and December. Cancel before Xmas as the last plus game is the 22nd. However if you don’t have Peacock you will miss 2 conference games. There are free streams all over the internet for those that are a little tech savvy and don’t wish to pay but that’s for another conversation.

Interesting, the defense giving up 35 pts was apparently the lowest pts allowed by KU in an exhibition game. Missed if it was the Self era only or ever. The defense definitely can be really good and offset what could be an offensive challenged team outside of DP

Wow that would be new this year. they are usually savvy about spacing the games until tournament time comes around.

@BeddieKU23 Other than Peacock games (which totally suck for sports) there must be some demand for KU games. It seems the tv guys want KU to make them some money on the regular channels. I hope we can deliver a strong season and get back into the national spotlight.

@wissox Scratching my head wondering how the winningest (is that a word?) Program in the history of college basketball had to get back into the national spotlight

@wissox KU drives subscriptions so it’s a money winner for Disney and NBC. Nobody is going to pay to watch Cincy UCF but KU is a different beast

The Jayhawk is very recognizable and respected (some love some hate) in basketball.

I’m less concerned with Flora’s problems this game than others seemed to be. He’s trying to learn how to be the outer big in a two-big set. Needs to able to put the ball on the floor and drive to the hoop. He’s obviously not very good at it yet, but an exhibition game is the right place to try things out. I was more concerned with the 5 bricks he clunked off the rim from the free throw line. On the flip side, it looks like Paul Mbiya has pretty good touch from the line for such a big man.

@ImmunoHawk +1. Count me as a Flory believer. Last year was a dumpster fire and he was a bright spot. this year he should have more structure around him. There is room for great growth here, and I think he is capable of it.

When you demand a bag a critical eye will come with it. He’s not carrying his weight yet. Hopefully Flory will, but his frame and skill level will limit him.

Flory is going to have to get a lot better for me to buy in. He looks stronger. Hoping for the best!

 All fair

@FarmerJayhawk Except the last two seasons we had quite a few conference games on ESPN+ when we weren’t quite up to must see watching.

@approxinfinity Nice to be worried that some athletic stud will round into form as opposed to some plodding jack wagon.

@Crimsonorblue22 yeah, but he’s got THE BEST name!

 @nuleafjhawk hes going to Florysh.

It appeared Flory was pressing without DP, perhaps trying to show he could be the #2 option. Growing pains is what we have seen through both exhibitions. Concerning but not the end of the world yet. Monday would be a good time to start figuring it out

@wissox our fans are incredibly loyal and subscribe almost regardless. That’s what really matters

-

@FarmerJayhawk it’s because we’re so desperate for some “W”'s after football season. Surely nobody subscribes during football season?

-

@nuleafjhawk insofar as they line up, sure. If someone signs up for the basketball games now they can watch us boatrace Okie Lite Saturday

-

@FarmerJayhawk I didn’t realize that Saturday’s game was on plus. I have it already, but I sure wouldn’t have signed up specifically to watch that! Lol

Let’s be honest here. I’m not sure anybody expected Flory to turn into Dirk Nowitzki or something (I wish). Not even in 10 years. If you did, your expectations are likely off the mark. He’s an athletic pogo stick without a ton of basketball skill. That’s ok. He just needs others around him to make him an asset — on offense at least. It’s not gonna happen, but if he pulls a Sasha Khan and sticks around, I’d expect we’d see some growth in his post up game and general basketball skill. I enjoy watching him swat back to back shots! If he can catch a few lobs and put backs every game, maybe even a baseline spin move or two, I’m perfectly happy with that.

If Flory doesn’t improve thru the year does KU pay him what he wants again? Or do they spend the NIL money elsewhere? So far this year he’s a bad investment, hopefully that changes. Absent NIL demands Flory’s future would just be about development and seeing what he can become, but the NIL dollars must be spent wisely and he has a big price tag. That changes the need for production to now.

-

@dylans its way too early. I think we need to let it breathe. The NIL should be treated like an annual contract. We have him for a year. Unlike football, it matters far more where he finishes the season than where he starts.

-

@approxinfinity Gotta be smart with those NIL dollars. So far Flory has had the least return on the money - a poor value/investment at this point. Hopefully he becomes worth his pay or they cut him next year. Still curious if he gets hurt if KU stands by Flory like they did Elmarko - might just kick him to the curb due to salary demands and limited funds. That’s something I’m truly wondering how it would play out as it would be more about the character of the coaches and AD. - Are they better people than Flory or are they just about the business side too?

Real games next week should give us an idea of whether to worry or not. He certainly needs to elevate his play now.

Bill is publicly dumping on them, he never would have done that the last two years we are so back.

-

@BShark So you’re saying Bill thinks they have more to give. Good sign for things to come.
