@nuleafjhawk did you just flip the care switch on?
-
@approxinfinity nah. That was my sarcastic care
-
“I’m really excited to be back for another year to continue to grow and develop and bring a national championship to Kansas,” Bidunga told ESPN with a wink and a bag of cash.
-
@dylans dont understand the Flory hate. If your employer tried to pay you half what you were worth what would you do?
-
@approxinfinity Go to another company. I started my own. What’s the safety net of an employer feel like? Suffocation?
I don’t hate that he got more money. I hate how he went about it. It he wanted to leave don’t come back for money, that’s dumb. KU won’t get the best version of him. Go away and flourish or fail.
I understand he’s your man crush, but he isn’t loyal. I won’t go to an event he’s sponsoring, I won’t believe a speech he gives about how great KU is (I’ll just wonder how much they paid him to say that).
As of today there is not a player on the roster worth rooting for. Maybe one will emerge - Jamari perhaps will be a four year player. The rest are rentals, Flory equates to a high dollar hooker.
-
@dylans geez man. Ok. I hope the off season softens your stance. I will root for a team that goes out and competes. There were plenty of teams that competed at a high level with a bunch of transfers this year, we just werent one of them.
-
@approxinfinity I’d do cartwheels! Jump for Joy! Praise God! Only half of what I’m worth would be a huge windfall
-
@approxinfinity If the season started today I would buy tickets just to boo Flory! He’s just an easy target. Much easier to be pretend mad at a dumbass kid making himself look like a jackass than to deal with real life emotions. I’d rather be fake mad than sad all the time…
-
@nuleafjhawk lol that made my day
-
@approxinfinity I’m not really mad at Flory as much as I’m infuriated with his handler.
-
I think it is a win-win for everyone, including us fans. I see it’s a whole other territory with the NIL but good for Flory for making Coach commit to him full on. Now we get to sit back and watch a guy blossom and contribute to all the many memories we have from our players in years past. RCJH
-
@RockChalkinTexas love it, agreed.
-
Just happy I’m not a Baylor fan. Robert Wright, wow. Now that’s not a good look based on the info out there. Wright had said he was returning, apparently signed NIL paperwork for a new deal, got some of it and then is hitting the portal. Baylor apparently turned down some other prospects at his position due to him and now chaos. Baylor by my count does not have a scholarship player back from this years roster.
-
Let’s go get Robert Wright
-
Great Talent and was my favorite freshman from this year but I doubt we can afford him and our other needs. If what’s out there is true about the events leading to his transfer, yikes. Nope
-
@BeddieKU23 What has been said about the events leading to his transfer?
-
In the case of Flory’s decision, I doubt any of us know the details.
But for the sake of giving him the benefit of the doubt, let’s consider a possible scenario (completely hypothetical):
$800,000 might be double what he got last year. So that seemed like a good place to start from KU’s perspective. He heard he could get a lot more. Maybe $2 million, so he enters the portal. Maybe he even gets into conversations that look like $2 million is possible. KU doubles its offer.
He has a bird in the hand of $1.6m with a coach and program he knows or possible $2m with unknowns. He leaves $400k on the table and sticks with KU.
We can be critical of shrewd business practices (which are unfortunately way too common), but when was the last time you left $400k on the table to stick with KU? (possibly 20% salary raise?) That smells like team spirit to me.
-
Told Baylor team he was returning and reupped NIL deal. Baylor didn’t recruit other PG’s. Now in portal and hearing a certain team lured him in.
-
@BeddieKU23 Diggy?
-
@bskeet I am sure that Flory’s values are not the exact same as mine. I also know that Flory didn’t grow up in Lawrence and hasn’t been watching KU basketball for as long as he can remember, like I have. So I don’t really expect Flory to adopt the same “ride of die with Kansas” attitude during the offseason that I would adopt if I were a collegiate basketball player of his caliber. As long as, while he is here, he gives it his all in games and in practice, that is enough for me. So while I would not have done what Flory did, I don’t think he is a bad person for exploring his options and trying to get paid more.
-
@Jhawk69 yep! I’ll wait until he half-asses the first half of the season to throw him under the bus
-
@approxinfinity Man, I sure hope that doesn’t happen. I want him to explode to the list of wooden award watch… along with DP
-
@bskeet me too me too
-
@Crimsonorblue22 said in FLORY FLORY FLORY FLORY FLORY:
@BeddieKU23 Diggy?
Think the main difference here is Wright was a starter and expected to be the face of the team next year while Coit was expected to be a role player next season if he stayed. I know Coit said to the media he planned to return but we don’t know that he renegotiated a deal or anything to stay. Wright apparently was committed to staying, signed a new NIL deal, received payments on his new deal and then up and left.
-
@BeddieKU23 was kidding! Thought you’d get it. He’s available.
